I worked with David Phelps many years ago for a private concert. I was contracted to provide sound equipment and engineering. Met with him during rehearsal and right before his concert. Amazing Christian man. Really enjoyed meeting and working with him.
Micheal English with the greatest solo part of all time and Mark Lowery with the greatest reaction. He just nailed that.

I wrote I Believe In a Hill Called Mount Calvary in 1972. My mother insisted she didn't want me praying The Rosary. She pounded my head against the headboard till I got a concussion. This led to my first permanent brain injury: slowed down mental processing. Then my father ordered me to stop praying The Rosary. But despite my confusion I was determined to serve God.

Amen! I came to the Lord at the age of 13, yet there were still many negative things that had affected my childhood but were unknown to me. God used this song to wash away all the negatives with a flood of tears and being complete healing in my life. I praise Him and am so thankful for the Gaithers. 🙏

Every time! It hits me at the core of my soul. The Christ, who was slain at the cross has the POWER to change lives even today!
I have stood in front of a congregation of people and sang worship songs with microphone in hand. In that moment when you're on stage it's not a performance for people. It's worship and your song IS your testimony. It's not about me or the band or anything else at that moment. It's me and the Trinity. I sing to them and yes "By the cross I shall stand."
Michael was doing just that. He's screwed up, made mistakes. Haven't we all. Thankfully we have a God that made a way through Jesus that all one must do to earn his mercy is...

Have true faith and works will come, but by no means will works EVER bring salvation. That is why I sing not to a congregation but to a God who loves me and gave me a talent and while I worship him maybe just maybe I can bring a few with me.
I wrote Sweet Holy Spirit in late 1993. During the Holiday season that year I was separated from my husband. It was a difficult time for me to be alone and under attack spiritually at the same time. But praise God! Shawn returned home in early January and I had a spiritual breakthrough as well. The LORD never leaves His children alone!
Watching this in July 2022 and hearing the words of the song. And earth is no more. I never heard these words in the past, no matter how many times I've listened to this song. But I believe in the hill where Jesus was crucified for my sins. Listen to the song with different ears.
This is probably the best group Bill Gaither has ever assembled.

As a Christian for about 8 years, it is still hard to deal with my sin daily for some reason. Pornography and lust still invade my life and sometimes make me think I’m not a child of God. Very discouraging. But praise the Lord I’m still here today and am being drawn to repentance. I BELIEVE in a hill called mount Calvary!!! It is better than anything in this wicked world. Pray for me, brothers and sisters, to finally overcome this addiction. I love you all!

When I was in my early 20s I rededicated my life to Christ. That was almost 40 years ago but I remember that I couldn't get enough of Bill Gaither gospel music. It has helped to get me through some tough times in my life. You can sense the holy spirit just by watching these videos. I can only imagine what it must be like to be there.

After all these years, I am STILL blown away when Michael English delivers the power. I get delighted along with Mark, and feel transported when David Phelps soars effortlessly to the finish, above the pristine harmonies of some of the finest singers in the world. I love Michael. I saw him in concert some 10 years ago and I was going through the same things he had been going in his life and I cried the whole concert then after the concert he sat down with me and I opened up with him about my addiction to pain killers. I had been addicted for years. It always starts innocently I had two major back surgeries torn rotator and bicep. I was a weight lifter. Michael prayed with me gave me his book and wrote the prodigal son comes home. By the grace of God I am free of addiction. I lost my wife of21 years because of my addiction. But I can say I am a happy man today
I loved his book! So raw with his emotions, that I could actually feel his sincere thankfulness for his second chance!
Our God is a God of many “second chances” if needed!

Michael of course struggled with his voice through the years. His first 3-5 years were unlike anything we've ever seen with a range from top to bottom unprecedented. In his prime, he could have even held his own beside David. Not as high, but hold his own. Michae had a very unique Bartone which he would use in certain songs to create such an impressive low sound. His ability to hit a peak and hold a note in his prime was astounding. I said that to say, this concert in Texas, was likely the last time Michael sang with a complete voice with little to no limitations.....And, this show with these members and this track list was in my opinion the best concert put together by any Gaither Band in its long history. I say this primarily because I love the old hymns and gospel songs done here by such gifted singers. Not just talented but, Gifted.
My husband’s favorite!! When he went to be with the Lord this past September, I had this song sung at his funeral. Our worship leader did a great job...he would have loved it!! David Phelps...keep singing for the Lord!! HE truly blessed you with that beautiful voice!!

Gaither Vocal Band is fantastic, second to none. This was arguably the best line up of GVB, with David Phelps and Michael English part of the band.

Stop judging people by who is better than the other. God looks at the heart of man. You could sing like an angel, but if you are not singing to glorify God, then you are only pleasing man, not God!! Nuff said!!

I’m my humble opinion also , I’ve been singing in churches for of and on for 60 years I could stand on the piano stool with my dad playing , then later on trio , then a church quartet , nothing like these guys
This conglomerate of these 5 is THE BEST that Gaithers has put together, I know Bill Gaither is going by age instead , he’s afraid of loosing his attraction of youth , maybe these guys have to be paid to much , I repeat myself for sound , spiritual, the BEST blend of voices

God Bless the Memory and Legacy of Anthony Berger. He and Roger Bennett shared the NQC "instrumentalist of the Year " award, alternatelu, for 15 years running. Anthony died, PLAYING, on a Gaither cruise. Russ Taff was one of the first people to get to Anthony, and move him back to a stateroom for Medics to attend. I wasn't on the cruise, but the account is valid from Taff and Gaither, who led the whole crowd in prayer as medics tried to restart Anthony's heart. An audience member noticed he wasn't moving, and had frozen in place. Russ got to him just in time, and kept him from falling off the piano bench. He was an amazing player. This tune, and many others for the Gaithers, as well as Lamp Music Group in Georgia.
Let us all praise God and Jesus always. Because he is our power and strength so all that are the children of God worship ,adore him so all the world will know he is the true and living god that they need to turn too. Love you all

In my humble opinion this is really Bill's all star group. The blends these five make are epic. You can tell they know how to create the sounds that explode the music into the listeners ear to create those powerful moments of emotion in each song. That's what Gospel music is. Great harmonies, powerful lyrics and anointed singers. Perfect combination.
Only missing Guy Penrod. My favorite 5 are: Bill, David, Michael, Guy and Mark. Wish I could have heard them in person.

I can NOT listen to this without being broken completely inside. What a POWERFUL Holy Spirit ANOINTED song!!! I am very sorry that you feel that way but it appears that you are confused. God gave angels, Lucifer is an angel, free will which means they can choose to do right or not. Consequently, when Satan fell God made plans for the redemption of man. If you have chosen to turn your back of God, understand He will not turn His back on you. I personally would question whether you really know Jesus as Messiah and Lord. Jesus is a very real person that you can get to know and it takes time but it sounds like you got mixed up in something that is taking your attention away from the cross.

The complexity of this universe, the complexity of life and the fine tuning of this universe all shout that a supernatural, super intelligent, personal being started it all. I have always loved this song but the way these guys sing it causes me to want to shout!! There is such an annointing and Holy Ghost power in their blended voices that I cannot help but raise my hands in worship and cry. Praise God for the Gaither Vocal Band.

I play this video over and over! What an awesome group of singers. David Phelp's and Michael English what beautiful and strong voices they have. When English sings the word "today" and goes up the scale with his voice - well, i get the goose bumps!
Thought I was crazy when I felt something all over and Goosebumps when Michael sang his verse, I could see it in Mark and even it got Bill making that big smile when the anointing is so strong, so glad others feel it to, this song is very personal to me, having my precious child killed and wanting to just give up, the words are so perfect, no matter what, I believe in that Hill, and whatever the cost and time is no more, I'll still cling to the old rugged cross and my precious God and Lord!
