Amen! I came to the Lord at the age of 13, yet there were still many negative things that had affected my childhood but were unknown to me. God used this song to wash away all the negatives with a flood of tears and being complete healing in my life. I praise Him and am so thankful for the Gaithers. 🙏
I have stood in front of a congregation of people and sang worship songs with microphone in hand. In that moment when you're on stage it's not a performance for people. It's worship and your song IS your testimony. It's not about me or the band or anything else at that moment. It's me and the Trinity. I sing to them and yes "By the cross I shall stand." Michael was doing just that. He's screwed up, made mistakes. Haven't we all. Thankfully we have a God that made a way through Jesus that all one must do to earn his mercy is... have true faith. Have true faith and works will come, but by no means will works EVER bring salvation. That is why I sing not to a congregation but to a God who loves me and gave me a talent and while I worship him maybe just maybe I can bring a few with me.
I worked with David Phelps many years ago for a private concert. I was contracted to provide sound equipment and engineering. Met with him during rehearsal and right before his concert. Amazing Christian man. Really enjoyed meeting and working with him.
What really hits me is when Michael English sings his part ... I am a Preacher Kid that has made mistakes and I am so thankful for Gods forgiveness. I LOVE Mark Lowrey put his hands out how he was so happy for Michael and victory! I am so happy for The Cross! Keep singing!!! Michael! When I was in my early 20s I rededicated my life to Christ. That was almost 40 years ago but I remember that I couldn't get enough of Bill Gaither gospel music. It has helped to get me through some tough times in my life. You can sense the holy spirit just by watching these videos. I can only imagine what it must be like to be there.
I truly love David Phelps beautiful voice. God has granted him an honest gift. I love the gifts shared in praising our God and magnificent creator, with the Gaither vocalists and musicians.

In my humble opinion this is really Bill's all star group. The blends these five make are epic. You can tell they know how to create the sounds that explode the music into the listeners ear to create those powerful moments of emotion in each song. That's what Gospel music is. Great harmonies, powerful lyrics and anointed singers. Perfect combination.

I love Michael. I saw him in concert some 10 years ago and I was going through the same things he had been going in his life and I cried the whole concert then after the concert he sat down with me and I opened up with him about my addiction to pain killers. I had been addicted for years. It always starts innocently I had two major back surgeries torn rotator and bicep. I was a weight lifter. Michael prayed with me gave me his book and wrote the prodigal son comes home. By the grace of God I am free of addiction. I lost my wife of21 years because of my addiction. But I can say I am a happy man today
I loved his book! So raw with his emotions, that I could actually feel his sincere thankfulness for his second chance! Our God is a God of many “second chances” if needed! To God, unlike man, a sin is a sin! The only difference is the consequences! Thank you Jesus for love, grace, forgiveness, tolerance and everything it takes to make us more like you! I can hardly wait to see you face to face!!!!!!!

I wrote Sweet Holy Spirit in late 1993. During the Holiday season that year I was separated from my husband. It was a difficult time for me to be alone and under attack spiritually at the same time. But praise God! Shawn returned home in early January and I had a spiritual breakthrough as well. The LORD never leaves His children alone!

I am very sorry that you feel that way but it appears that you are confused. God gave angels, Lucifer is an angel, free will which means they can choose to do right or not. Consequently, when Satan fell God made plans for the redemption of man. If you have chosen to turn your back of God, understand He will not turn His back on you. I personally would question whether you really know Jesus as Messiah and Lord. Jesus is a very real person that you can get to know and it takes time but it sounds like you got mixed up in something that is taking your attention away from the cross.

I think this performance of "I Believe In A Hill Called Mount Calvary" may well be the finest thing this incarnation of the Gaither Vocal Band has ever done...and that's really saying something. What an assemblage of almost un-Earthly talent for making beautiful, spiritually powerful, vocal music, out of all proportion to the size of the group!

Michael of course struggled with his voice through the years. His first 3-5 years were unlike anything we've ever seen with a range from top to bottom unprecedented. In his prime, he could have even held his own beside David. Not as high, but hold his own. Michae had a very unique Bartone which he would use in certain songs to create such an impressive low sound. His ability to hit a peak and hold a note in his prime was astounding. I said that to say, this concert in Texas, was likely the last time Michael sang with a complete voice with little to no limitations.....And, this show with these members and this track list was in my opinion the best concert put together by any Gaither Band in its long history. I say this primarily because I love the old hymns and gospel songs done here by such gifted singers. Not just talented but, Gifted.

I wrote I Believe In a Hill Called Mount Calvary in 1972. My mother insisted she didn't want me praying The Rosary. She pounded my head against the headboard till I got a concussion. This led to my first permanent brain injury: slowed down mental processing. Then my father ordered me to stop praying The Rosary. But despite my confusion I was determined to serve God.

As much as I love Guy Penrod..and I DO, (he's an awesome brother in Christ and man can he SING!), THIS group here is my favorite of all.. David - Wes - Mike - Mark - Bill .. *Fantastic!* THIS is the group I would love to see in person, wish I could have.. The new group was here last month, but I didn't make it.. too sickly, and they are okay...but THIS is the best group Bill ever put together. I'm one of those people who has a REALLLLY hard time with change, and it isn't as bad just watching videos but in person, my heart isn't in seeing the new group but for Wes and David though I loved Adam with Matt Hagee's group.. I didn't realize he had written a book. I will have to get it. I was struggling as a young Christian at that time as well. Grown up singing in the church and thought I would some day sing for the Lord. But I got caught up in some things I shouldn't. I am a preacher kid, but I watched some of his interviews lately and I am so humbled and so happy to see how he has let Christ come in to his life like never before. Martie Davis There were different prices. Ranging as low as $35 up to $65. Where I was in Louisiana anyway. I'd never been and I didn't want to be in no balcony with binoculars or looking at a screen. And I lucked out I think at Ticketmaster when I got Front row center. I was trying for that and a can't believe it was still available. It was so worth it. I so would have paid more to see them. They were Amazing. It you ever get the chance to see them. Take it. They put on a great show. The only thing...They don't allow you to video. You can take as many pics as you like though. 🤗

I have stood in front of a congregation of people and sang worship songs with microphone in hand. In that moment when you're on stage it's not a performance for people. It's worship and your song IS your testimony. It's not about me or the band or anything else at that moment. It's me and the Trinity. I sing to them and yes "By the cross I shall stand."

When I was in my early 20s I rededicated my life to Christ. That was almost 40 years ago but I remember that I couldn't get enough of Bill Gaither gospel music. It has helped to get me through some tough times in my life. You can sense the holy spirit just by watching these videos. I can only imagine what it must be like to be there.

What did the thief on the cross do to save his soul from satan? He believed in a hill called Mount Calvary! He was talking to the Lamb Of God, God's only begotten Son, and he believed!
In my humble opinion this is really Bill's all star group. The blends these five make are epic. You can tell they know how to create the sounds that explode the music into the listeners ear to create those powerful moments of emotion in each song. That's what Gospel music is. Great harmonies, powerful lyrics and anointed singers. Perfect combination.
Only missing Guy Penrod. My favorite 5 are: Bill, David, Michael, Guy and Mark. Wish I could have heard them in person.

I love Michael. I saw him in concert some 10 years ago and I was going through the same things he had been going in his life and I cried the whole concert then after the concert he sat down with me and I opened up with him about my addiction to pain killers. I had been addicted for years. It always starts innocently I had two major back surgeries torn rotator and bicep. I was a weight lifter. Michael prayed with me gave me his book and wrote the prodigal son comes home. By the grace of God I am free of addiction. I lost my wife of21 years because of my addiction. But I can say I am a happy man today
I loved his book! So raw with his emotions, that I could actually feel his sincere thankfulness for his second chance!
Our God is a God of many “second chances” if needed!

But praise God! Shawn returned home in early January and I had a spiritual breakthrough as well. The LORD never leaves His children alone!
I can NOT listen to this without being broken completely inside. What a POWERFUL Holy Spirit ANOINTED song!!! The writer of these words had to be under the influence of the Spirit of God, but THIS PERFORMANCE at THIS particular time and THIS particular place will NEVER be rivaled or duplicated. Michael of course struggled with his voice through the years. His first 3-5 years were unlike anything we've ever seen with a range from top to bottom unprecedented. In his prime, he could have even held his own beside David. Not as high, but hold his own. Michae had a very unique Bartone which he would use in certain songs to create such an impressive low sound. His ability to hit a peak and hold a note in his prime was astounding. I said that to say, this concert in Texas, was likely the last time Michael sang with a complete voice with little to no limitations.....And, this show with these members and this track list was in my opinion the best concert put together by any Gaither Band in its long history. I say this primarily because I love the old hymns and gospel songs done here by such gifted singers. Not just talented but, Gifted.

I wrote I Believe In a Hill Called Mount Calvary in 1972. My mother insisted she didn't want me praying The Rosary. She pounded my head against the headboard till I got a concussion. This led to my first permanent brain injury: slowed down mental processing. Then my father ordered me to stop praying The Rosary. But despite my confusion I was determined to serve God.

The new group was here last month, but I didn't make it.. too sickly, and they are okay...but THIS is the best group Bill ever put together. I'm one of those people who has a REALLLLY hard time with change, and it isn't as bad just watching videos but in person, my heart isn't in seeing the new group but for Wes and David though I loved Adam with Matt Hagee's group.. I also love the group with Guy and Marshall...I guess I am just happy in a rut..haha....a fantastic one though as this group here is *awesome*!! God bless all!
I hope these videos stay up forever too, because I watch them EVERY DAY and all day and I love them ALL...especially those ones with the dear folks who have already gone home..my favorites: George Younce, and Jake Hess (I LOVE his smile! I can't wait to see him in Heaven!) and of course sweet Vestal!! And JT! OH and Anthony!! OK I could do this all day! Heaven's full of praise music for SURE!! heheheeh

I totally agree. I get chills every time Michael starts to sing, knowing what he's been through (having read his book). He truly is expressing how much God has changed him and given him a new life. Singing from the heart.

I didn't realize he had written a book. I will have to get it. I was struggling as a young Christian at that time as well. Grown up singing in the church and thought I would some day sing for the Lord. But I got caught up in some things I shouldn't. I am a preacher kid, but I watched some of his interviews lately and I am so humbled and so happy to see how he has let Christ come in to his life like never before. I am still struggling with things, but for some reason every time i listen to this song and I hear his part, it hits me right in the heart! God bless the Gaither's and who and what they stand for!

There were different prices. Ranging as low as $35 up to $65. Where I was in Louisiana anyway. I'd never been and I didn't want to be in no balcony with binoculars or looking at a screen. And I lucked out I think at Ticketmaster when I got Front row center. I was trying for that and a can't believe it was still available. It was so worth it. I so would have paid more to see them. They were Amazing. It you ever get the chance to see them. Take it. They put on a great show. The only thing...They don't allow you to video. You can take as many pics as you like though. 🤗
