    When Mae was trying to attack Torbin all I could think was the scene in Liar liar when Jim Carey is in the bathroom and is asked what he's doing and screams "I'm kicking my ass!"

    Started off strong in ep 1, then hit another gear of greatness in ep 2. Sol is already one of my favorite Jedi ever, and I really, REALLY like that they are showing Yord to be more like a prequel era Jedi. Like he’s kind of a forerunner of that here: a bit vain, arrogant, maybe corruptible. Quick to draw his lightsaber and prepare for violence, etc. So far, I LOVE this.

    • @Omn1Media

      Yord is definitely a little on the edge for sure!

    • @HaydenWerren

      Really tells the difference between two different era Jedi:
      High Republic: Peacekeeping Jedi who don’t involve in violence and let the Force guide them through their actions
      Prequel Jedi: Jedi who blindly follow their Code, act in aggressive mannerisms and slightly strip themselves of their passion

      I don't think corruptible fits here. He seems more like a "play everything exactly by the rules" kind of guy. A little bit like Mace Windu sometimes comes off. One of his big lines when he initially confronted Osha was literally "It doesn't matter what I think". And the way he was going on and on about not giving Osha the stun gun because she isn't a Jedi. And besides that, he might be a little trigger-happy sometimes, but he doesn't seem like someone who would fall off the way.

    I get the feeling that in this time period there are mini Jedi temples scattered throughout the Universe and when we see it for the first time in Episode 1 there is only one on Coruscant.

    • @rubeniscool
      @rubeniscool 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      By the time this show takes place, they've started to become more insular and a century later, practically all of the local temples have been abandoned. The novel "Star Wars: The Living Force" as Qui-gon and Obi Wan in the process of closing down one such temple.

    • @doomse150
      @doomse150 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The way I understand it, there are a lot of smaller outpost temples scattered around the galaxy (don't one or two of those even show up in Rebels?), while the main center/head of their operations is the temple on Corousant, which is the same one from the Prequels & Clone Wars era.

  • @mojoshivers
    @mojoshivers 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

    I just love the fact the story so far points to some kind of miscalculation by the Jedi which killed Osha and Mae’s family, and then a subsequent cover-up where each girl was told the other died. This points to a Jedi order that, if not fully corrupt, then is kind of politically motivated rather than doing what is considered right. Whatever the situation turns out to be, it makes for a fascinating set-up.
    I also like the combat more resembles old Kung-Fu Films than sword fights.

    I think they defeated Mae during the fire, but decided she was too dangerous to live. So, their only course of action was to execute an unarmed Mae. Andara says Jedi don't attack unarmed assailants, and Mae says yes you do. Anyway, I think those 4 Jedi covered up what they (thought they) did knowing they'd be kicked out of the order. It's like when Mace tried to execute Palps instead of imprisoning him. Also, what if the Jedi actually started the fire to cover up what they did. Made it all look like an accident.

    There are a lot of reactors that are saying they’re showing the Jedi to be corruptible
    But when you think about it, the idea that they were completely disregarding what Anakin was going through with Amidala is what led to the emperor being able to control him so easily
    Even Yoda, who gave the great advice, don’t have any attachments after he was already hopelessly in love with her
    It might not be the Jedi or evil, but it may certainly be that they are completely out of touch with the way normal people live their lives

    The only thing that i didnt really like was the reveal of the whole "they're twins" happened so fast. Like as soon as osha showed up i knew if was either going to be twins or DID. I feel like showing the story of osha as a fugitive and mae as an assasin would have lengthened the tension and mystery of "is it actually osha? Whats really happening?" I look forward to seeing where this show goes as i did enjoy it. But right now it just felt like the whole "who is the bad guy?" question was resolved way too fast

  • @tomkadams
    @tomkadams 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I'm wondering if the four Jedi made some sort of mistake that led to the fire which separated Osha and Mae, and they both thought they were the only survivors of the fire. Mae grew up blaming the Jedi and now is killing them one-by-one, while Osha grew up blaming Mae. I don't think the Jedi could have done something blatantly evil, but I wouldn't be surprised if they covered up a mistake. That helps build up to this idea from the prequels of the Jedi not always being right and becoming their own worse enemy.

    My guess is that the 4 Jedi on that planet became aware of identical twins who were Force Sensitive and wondered what would happen if one were trained as a Jedi and one was not, and set up the fire and told each twin that the other one had started the fire but had perished. Some kind of wild, wacky, Jedi version of My Fair Lady.

    Sith apprentices don't go to some planet to find Kyber crystals like Jedi do. They need to kill a Jedi Master with their own hands and take the slain Master's lightsaber for themselves. That's what Palpatine had Vader do in the comics, even though he had an abundance of lightsabers from Order 66.
    I think this is what Mae is trying to do here. Goad a Jedi Master to attack her with full force, fight the Master with her bare hands, take the lightsaber and kill the Master with it. If she can achieve it, she would fulfill one of the key criteria to becoming a Sith apprentice.
    That doesn't necessarily mean her master is a Sith Master. Sith apprentices can also take their own students in secret, just not as true Sith in order to uphold the Rule of Two. If the apprentice defeats the master, the acolyte would then officially become the new Sith apprentice. If the master defeats and kills the apprentice, it may then consider the acolyte as a potential replacement candidate.

    In my opinion that's the reason the order fell in the 1st place. I don't know if you've read any of the old SW books but one of the things I loved was when the Senate tried to interfere with Master Lukes Order he was like hell No and left the planet. You either are politicians or you're for the people it can't be both if you're a Jedi (at least that's what I've learned in my 30+ years of being a SW fan).

    The Jedi sensed the dark side in Mae, thought they took her out via the fire they started, brought in Osha to train, and told her Mae started the fire. The Jedi cover up their assassination of Mae who seeks revenge on the Jedi for killing her family.

    Does not feel like Star Wars. The Galaxy is a failing Republic that breeds tension. At the end of clone wars i felt that there were stakes involved when i saw the clone troopers mobilizing. Once again the Jedi are the center of that major conflict. This is no galactic scare

    I felt a heavy wave of disappointment. Watching these two episodes. I felt like Andor handle their time. With much more care than this new high Republic era, and also the actions of the Jedi order really don’t match the Jedi order. in the prequels, kind of giving me an understanding that they are still super blinded somehow even in their republic era.

    This is seeming like another case of the original Captain Marvel. The movie was fine but Brie Larson out there saying it was not for 40 year old white men ruined it for people. This may be the same thing. A good story but tainted by the opinions of the showrunner and some stars. Just listening to other reactors I thought that she simply killed a jedi with a knife. The context was much different. Glad I watched your reaction.

      In what world would they pay someone that actively loathes the sequels and isn't shy about it or their business practices. That said, I just don't mindlessly hate shit. I'm not that miserable. I judge each piece on its own and while I liked this quite a bit I still called out the awful dialogue in the first episode. Outside of Star Wars, I'm not shy about my dislike of their soulless live action remakes. And Marvel has been mid as hell lately aside from a few things. If I like something, I like it. If I don't, I don't. Is that so hard to understand?
