    ℹ️ About this episode:
    On this episode of LivinRvision, we are going to take a journey through time. To a period when the threat of nuclear war between the U.S. and the former Soviet Union was a reality…the Cold War. It started in 1947 after the end of World War II and lasted to 1991.
    For more than two decades, 54 Titan II missile complexes across the United States stood “on alert” 24 hours a day, seven days a week, heightening the threat of nuclear war. The Titan II was capable of launching from its underground silo in 58 seconds and could deliver a nine megaton thermo-nuclear warhead to its target more than 6,000 miles away in less than thirty minutes.
    Today, we’re going to visit the only remaining Titan II missile site that is open to the public, the Titan Missile Museum located in Green Valley, Arizona. We are going to take a journey through time and take part in a simulated missile launch from the actual launch center.
    We hope you enjoy and learn something about a part of our country history.

    I was a Titan II Missile Combat Crew Commander (MCCC) in the 1970's in Arkansas. When I made Commander, I was only a 1st Lieutenant. Believe me, it was a stressful and awesome responsibility. At the time, we were under the Strategic Air Command (SAC) who made sure we remained fully trained and capable of executing our responsibilities. The hours were long and half of our time was spent on recurring training. Your tour guide, though young, was awesomely knowledgeable. Thanks for the flashback! DC

    Welcome to S E Arizona. You are in my neck of the woods (or cactus). I live in Sierra Vista, AZ. Bisbee to my SE and Titan Missile Museum to my W. If you are still nearby... Ft Huachuca, home of the Buffalo Soldiers, has a couple very nice museums. Kartchner Cavern, S of Benson, is fabulous. Did you make it to Tombstone, it is always fun. The Chiricahua Monument has beautiful rock formations. There is so much beauty and so many places to explore in Cochise Co. BTW did you know 2 very old buildings along the old downtown shopping area in Bisbee burned last week. Very sad. Anyway, hope you are enjoying beautiful Arizona. I'm a native "Arizonian" but spent many years living in SE Iowa (Keokuk). Moved back 4 years ago. Always enjoy your videos, they are very beautifully done and always interesting. Thanks so much.

      We have left the area. We had a list of these places to choose from but only the weekend to film and some of these required a 2 week notice for filming permits. Hopefully we’ll get back to do more of these places another time.
      We did a video on Tombstone a few years back and really enjoyed it. Here’s a link to it.

    Very intersting. I was raised during the cold war, so this gave perspective to how things were back then. In the early years of it, everybody was so worried. After a while, it just became ho-hum life. Nice job with the film inserts. 👍

    I was in the Air Force 1966_1870 as a security policeman and worked on the minute man missile site in North Dakota. As a guard I got to go down to launch center a few times taking the officers food, also was part of the security for the missile sites. sometimes when the weather was bad the security system we would go out to the site to check out the site and wait for a security team would come and stay on site till the system came back up or repaired. A team of two in a truck camper would stay on site till the system came back on. I did that duty my first 6 months there before going to Launch Site. My first time camping, I guess you could call it that. Any way I really enjoy all of your videos, we have a class C maybe see you down the road.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We shared all our expenses after our first year. That video is still out there. What “we” spend changes every year drastically and we have found is by no means anything that anyone should base what it costs to travel full time. Simply because of how drastic it changes for “us” year after year. We are all different with what we spend over a years time, but that video we did will give you an idea of what expenses “we” had then. We spent almost double that this past year.
