One of the most iconic holiday movies ever made, perfect for both Halloween and Christmas. The Nightmare Before Christmas is unforgettable, not only because of its spooky-yet-fun setting, but also because of the overall heart of it’s twisted characters. Who wouldn’t want to spend some time in Halloweentown? The place where pumpkins scream in the dead of night.
But with so many interesting residents, in such a dark and creepy world, we thought it would be interesting to dig into these characters’ psyches -- and figure out once and for all, who is the most good… And who is the most evil. As well as where everyone else ranks.

They're there to bring holiday delights to human world. They can't do that if everyone is resenting the 31st.

Wait I just realized that Jack blinks even though he doesn’t have eyes.
Funny fact, the studio wanted Tim Burton to give Jack eyes because eyes are used to express emotions. However, giving Jack eyes made it very creepy. Thus, they gave Jack the ability to blink to make his overall facial expressions better. A sort of compromise. Thank God they didn't give him eyes, that would be creepier tbh.
It's like this photoshopped image of Venom having eyes, it's much scarier and unsettling. Just doesn't look good.

@@enderethan229 Like, in normal circumstances I can see why they'd want to give him eyes but he's a skeleton, so he doesn't need eyes. Lol Then again, Disney used to whine that Tim Burton's creations were "too scary for kids". I laughed when I heard that tbh.

Sally is and always has been my favorite character! I’ve always loved how sweet, clever, shy, and brave she was. I also think Sally is so beautiful and I love her song! ❤️
While, yes, Oogie is the "villain" in no uncertain terms of the film, there's times when Jack can be just as bad, though for good reasons. He used his authority as the leader of Halloween to invade another land and kidnap their leader because he was interested in doing his job for him even though he had stated in multiple ways that he, and the citizens of Halloween Town, have no idea what the hell they're doing because they've done the same thing for centuries and had never understood Christmas because... well, they just discovered it. The only thing that totally puts him far below Oogie in terms of evilness is because, unlike everyone's favorite gamblin' boogieman, Jack actually cares about everyone around him, even Lock, Shock and Barrel.
You're right! I was thinking that while watching this video. Jack isn't a bad guy and his "heart" is probably always in the right place, but there have been times where his head most definitely wasn't.
Like Tim Burton, I don’t exactly think of Oogie as a villain, he’s just a fun entertaining character with a somehow evil but crazy personality. The other thing is that his perfect song is the true reason I love him throughout most of the film.
I can give the evil scientist some credit for not showing any negativity towards Jack

Fun fact: there was an alternate ending for Oogie Boogie where he's not a sack of bugs, but actually dr. Finklestein in disguise.

But overall he is harmless and does seem to care about Halloweentown and Jack. Seeing as he led the search for his friend, went along with Christmas, and was there to save everyone with Boogie’s boys

Going to disagree with Lock and Shock's ranking. Shock's the smartest, most devious, AND keeps the other two in line. She's also the most dangerous of the three *because* she's the most subtle. I'd put her higher than Lock.
Lock's impulsive and doesn't think ahead. He's boisterous, and yeah, talks big game about what they could do, but he's more of a talker than a doer, while Shock actually gets shit done.
Though, your comment about them needing a bit of guidance, possibly from Santa...

The Wolfman must have been a little taller, as he may look fierce, but he had a heart of gold, he was friendly with the other inhabitants and helped everyone, and not to mention that at the end he howled sadly after the accident of the Jack

- anger issues
- fhrightened men into an early grave
- ignored Sally's advice the whole damn movie
- ordered the kidnapping of Sandy Claus
Only the latter was because of his inocent misconception of Christmas but it's still one of the evilist things he does

Ya know, I hate that ya'll keep misusing the term "Sociopath". Sociopaths are individuals who are angry or manipulative, BUT they have morals and empathy (they just usually only show it AFTER they've done their harm). Boogie Woogie is a Psychopath because he has absolutely no empathy for those he hurts.
