- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view on the Spielfeld-Trieste Railway between Villa Opicina in Italy and the Slovenian capital city of Ljubljana in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Spielfeld-Trieste railway is a double-track, electrified main line in parts of Austria, Slovenia and Italy. It was built as a section of the Austrian Southern Railway (österreichische Südbahn Vienna-Trieste) by the state-owned k.k. Südliche Staatsbahn (Southern Railway) and from 1858 onward operated for decades by the Austrian Southern Railway Company (Südbahngesellschaft), a large private railway company in the Austrian Empire and Austria-Hungary. It runs from Spielfeld-Straß over the Austrian-Slovenian border at the Municipality of Šentilj, continuing via Maribor, Ljubljana and the Slovenian karst to the Adriatic port of Trieste, today in Italy. It continues from Spielfeld-Straß to Vienna as the Southern Railway nowadays.
The historic Southern Railway is one of the two main axes of rail traffic in Slovenia. It still serves as an international link between Slovenia, Austria and Italy.

Wieder ne schöne Tour , da ich ja nicht glaube , dort jemals hin zu kommen . Bin jetzt zwar erst in Borovnica. Aber fangen die in Serbien jetzt auch mit dem Quatsch und den Lärmschutzwänden an , wie es bei uns gang und gäbe ist ? Da kann ich doch dann auch gleich in der Nacht fahren , wenn ich da von der Landschaft nichts sehe .

Il filmato è ottimo, come al solito; lo stato della ferrovia, del suo impianto, è ancora ancorato a trenta, quaranta anni orsono. I mezzi sono all'altezza dei nostro tempo, ma la struttura è deficitaria; i pendini di poligonazione ancorati ad isolatori ceramici, le velocità commerciali da terzo mondo, le traverse in legno. Una nota positiva è che da loro non è transitato l'uomo della "struttura snella" che ha messo in crisi l'intera struttura italiana !

Meglio dire "le velocita' da quarto mondo". In Slovenia le cose vanno in marcia indietro: recentemente hanno modernizzato un tratto tra Borovnica e Ljubljana e prima la velocita' era limitata a 100, mentre ora, dopo il rinnovamento, sta a 50.
@@maxart3392 These are temporary speed restrictions on sections that have recently been modernized. The modernization of Ljubljana - Borovnica section is still ongoing, and will be designed for speeds of up to 160 km/h after completion.

thanks for the super scenic ride! too bad the train does not start in trieste centrale, but I believe this has to do with the train not being able to work on italian signalling system. hopefully in the future...

Perhaps I'm being excessively curious but, what prompted you to make that transition at 1:50:34?
Why do these connections only go to the Italian border, also coming from Rijeka? The few more kilometers to Trieste would make the connection even more attractive.

sarebbe molto bello ma i rotabili sloveni non hanno SCMT, e i CAF italiani non hanno i 15kV per andare in croazia it would be very nice but Slovenian rolling stock doesn't have SCMT, and Italian CAFs don't have 15kV to go to Croatia
Many such reasons, that’s just the way it has always been, passenger trains usually only take you to the nearest transfer station in the foreign country, but the main reason for this is changing drivers is tedious and it’s usually financially more feasible to let a couple of the driver get special access and track knowledge up until the nearest station. Either if you want to travel internationally by train you should get on an express service and take a local one once you’re inside the country
