    I lived in Guatemala when I was a teenager. Guatemala City is ringed in active volcanoes, but I was up in the mountains, like these folks. It is like paradise there, flora and fauna-wise. She speaks truth about the mountain roads. One lane, totally treacherous. This kind of V. activity was unheard of back then. Now, I've lived thru Mt St Helens and am in direct site of Mt. Rainier. If it's waking up there..and Europe..and S.E. Pacific..the EQ swarms have already started here in WA.

      @@mangoryder7139 yes, it is a beautiful country. I remember the scary rain storms we walked in. The ground would go from dry, to water up to my knees in just minutes! I was told to wear tall boots there but still, I never experienced such flash flooding before. And when I washed my clothes, it was so humid that it took days for them to dry, lol😅. Good for plants though! And I made many friends there.😊

      Just look up the USGS weekly volcanic activity report. The majority of eruptions are continuations of eruptions that have been occurring for years. This one in the video since 2015, another in Guatemala since 1922. Current volcanic activity is actually on the low side of average.

      I hate it when the media adopt the sensationalist/ alarmist angle, and it makes me very angry. Because not everyone has much more than passing knowledge about such things as volcanoes, they rely on media outlets to give clear, concise, impersonal information, not hysterical crap. By plying such news stories as this one with thick layers of histrionics they A) give a very false view of the world and B) actually cause the alarm, anxiety and panic themselves. It's about time all such news stories ought to be monitored and amended by trained geologists-and news groups slapped with hefty fines for attempting to cause social disruption with overblown news!

      Volcanic eruptions, seismic activity, and decreased sunspots all go together hand in hand. • @KillberZomL4D42494
      @KillberZomL4D42494 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mount Makiling is very unlikely, it is considered inactive due to not having an eruption for the past 10000 years. Taal, Kanlaon, Bulusan and Mayon, they are our most active ones. There shouldn't be a worry for Pinatubo at this time as it releases all of its power in 1991, a VEI 6 eruption is no joke but it'll take another hundred of years, could be another 600 years before it erupt again, it might have minor eruptions raging from VEI 1-3, a phreatic eruption cause by the water on top, if the water reaches the magma chamber then expect an eruption, but it won't be another colossal eruption like in 1991 but a similar eruption to Taal last year, a cataclysmic one, but still very unlikely at this point.

    2. Fuego in Strombolian eruptions, as it is now, is generally harmless. It is when it suddenly stops, that it becomes dangerous. That is, thankfully, rare, and gives a few days' time to evacuate.

      Quite a lot, along with things like water vapour and sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and other noxious gases. It isn't so much how much CO2 a volcano puts out that's the issue- they've been pumping it out for billions of years but I guess it's been at a rate the planet has been able to cope with, if only just in some cases. There's been time for the planet to develop ways of absorbing/ storing the excess carbon. Then along comes us humans, and in just two hundred years, our activities have produced CO2 at such an accelerated rate that the planet can't keep up. That's why we're in trouble now- we've exceeded our world's capacity to absorb and stash the excess carbon away, and worse still, we're still putting out more.

    Sky News: Please consider following Dutchsinse on YT & Twitch. He tracks & forecasts earthquakes quite reliably, & has been for years. He doesn't forecast volcanic eruptions, per se, but many times the energy that travels across the globe release via volcanic activity &/or earthquakes. So, if there are volcanoes in the vicinity of a forecasted area, they may go off instead of earthquakes. The avg energy of a volcanic eruption is guesstimated to be roughly equivalent to an M5 earthquake. He's worth following.

      Videos from the KREM 2 archives show the aftermath of the Mount St. Helens eruption, as Spokane and others cities were covered in volcanic ash. th-cam.com/video/tYtlt-TO-wg/w-d-xo.html Mount St. Helens-a volcano in Washington State located 96 miles south of Seattle and 50 miles northeast of Portland, Oregon... six-mile radius blast. On March 20, 1980, Mount St. Helens was the center of a magnitude 4.2 earthquake. Steam venting from the volcano started on March 27. By the end of April, the north side of the volcano started to grow larger.
      On May 18, a second earthquake of magnitude 5.1 made a huge part of the north face of the volcano collapse. It was the largest known debris avalanche in recorded history. At 8:32 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time, the magma inside of St. Helens exploded. On the Volcanic Explosivity Index scale, the eruption was rated a five, which is the same rating of the famous Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD.

    I think, just my amateur view, that with the melting of the north and south poles and the ocean level rising that there is an increase in the hydro-static pressure to the oceanic crust. The "Ring of Fire" seems to outline the margins of various regions along the faults between the oceanic and continental crusts thus causing far more than normal volcanoes, including in Central America. I think too of all the bodies the death squads dumped into, not sure which, volcano craters during the US supported military dictatorships all over Central America.
