Wow, that last story was really, really relatable. I was in the exact same situation. My brother also has a girlfriend (now fiance) who has parents just like that. They even took their kid's money that they worked for if they had a job. For drugs and such, she told me. She even moved in with us after her parents kicked her out because she hid a gold necklace she got for her 18th birthday from her aunt in our safe. She knew her dad would come looking for it and try to sell if for money. Sure enough, one day she came home from school and her dad cornered her asking where the heck it was. He had gone through her room looking for it to pawn. She told him she put it in our safe because she knew he would try to steal it, and he was livid. he kicked her out, and even threw things at her. She came to live with us until she left for college on a scholarship. At first it was really hard for her, years and years of mental abuse like that really took it's toll on her. She would never ever ask for anything, and she felt horrible just eating dinner with us. She always felt like she was this huge problem to us. Eventually things started looking up for her and she has gotten more confident and sure of herself. We always told her she was a part of our family and now she believes it too. She still has a long way to go, and her parents still call sometimes and try to guilt trip her into giving them money, (She has a stable job on her campus, and is looking great financially) but she is the happiest she's ever been. I'm so happy my family was able to get her out of that toxic house, and I do hope that someday her parents become worthy of calling themselves mom and dad. I wish the best upon her other 6 siblings. Yeah, her parents are also choosingbeggers. But anyway, everything is great now, it was about two years ago now. And I'm even one of her bridesmaids. It's great.

The kid comes outside and walks towards my truck looking like he was gonna sit in my truck. I watched as he reached for the door handle so I locked it. He yells at me like I'm preventing him from getting into his own car. I told the kid: 1 I don't like you and 2 I don't know you so you can't just get into my truck. He walked away an soon my break was over so I went back to work. I didn't have any other issues with the kid for the rest of the day till that next morning. He came into work with makeup on his eyes making it look like he had to black eyes and tried to say I punched him before work and that he wanted me to be fired. I told his mom and dad that if I supposedly punched him for them to call the police. Which they did call the cops an when they got there I told the officer that I didn't touch the kid and that they need to wipe the makeup off the kids face because it looks like crap. He asked if it was makeup an he said no it isn't. The officer walked up to the kid and could smell the makeup coming from his face. Now with all of this going on none of us knew that the owner was in the office watching and listening to the hole thing. The manager told the officers that it wasn't makeup claiming that I slugged her son for no reason. The cop walked into the kitchen and grabbed a brand new rag, got it wet and walked up to the kid to wipe the makeup off and the kid started to back away from the cop trying to protect his ruse. Well the cop reached out an grabbed the kid an wiped his left eye and sure enough it was makeup. The cop said that he was going to charge the mom, dad an kid for making fraudulent claims wasting tax payer money. By this time owner walks out scaring me because he walked out from behind me and told the cop that he could add Tresspassing aswell. He fired the mother right there on the spot and banned them from returning.

I'm really sorry for the girl in the last story and am happy that she found a supportive boyfriend and a family that accepts her as one of their own. 13:50 The Studenka train crash is a good example that it can go really wrong both ways. A smaller truck was carrying aluminium sheets and stopped on train tracks, instead of just going through the barrier which they are designed for in case you get stuck on tracks. The train barreled through it and I think 7 people in the train got killed. Ofc the truck was totaled too, but depending on the cargo it can really create havoc.

It's a kind of welfare, basically. The way our social system works, if you make under a certain income (roughly 1k/month) the state has to pay on top of your income, so you can hit close to that 1k - that's the sum that's considered "necessary to survive without being homeless or starving". There's different funds for that. 'Arbeitslosengeld' (jobloss money) for if you recently lost your job, Sozialgeld (if you're too sick to work or your retirement money doesn't reach 1k/month) and Wohngeld (living money) if you work and aren't sick/eldery, but can not afford bare minimum living space anyway (say you hold a very low wage job). There are strict rules on which living spaces you can rent with that money (size/cost) and it's not easy to find something within the requirements, I believe, but technically this should make it so that in our country no one has to be homeless. Doesn't always work out in reality, but that's the thought behind it at least.

A smaller truck was carrying aluminium sheets and stopped on train tracks, instead of just going through the barrier which they are designed for in case you get stuck on tracks. The train barreled through it and I think 7 people in the train got killed. Ofc the truck was totaled too, but depending on the cargo it can really create havoc.

It's a kind of welfare, basically. The way our social system works, if you make under a certain income (roughly 1k/month) the state has to pay on top of your income, so you can hit close to that 1k - that's the sum that's considered "necessary to survive without being homeless or starving". There's different funds for that. 'Arbeitslosengeld' (jobloss money) for if you recently lost your job, Sozialgeld (if you're too sick to work or your retirement money doesn't reach 1k/month) and Wohngeld (living money) if you work and aren't sick/eldery, but can not afford bare minimum living space anyway (say you hold a very low wage job). There are strict rules on which living spaces you can rent with that money (size/cost) and it's not easy to find something within the requirements, I believe, but technically this should make it so that in our country no one has to be homeless. Doesn't always work out in reality, but that's the thought behind it at least.
