  • Vlog 014: How to build a custom niche!
    Today I will show you everything you need to know on how to build a custom shower niche. For us it is very important that we make sure that we had no sliver cuts and have our grout lines line up perfectly. We always go the extra mile to make our work look sick!
    For that reason we were not able to use laticrete niche or schluter niche. Those niches are 20" wide and would result in us having slivers. Those types of things are the reason I am not a huge fan of laticrete shower system or Schluter Shower System. To me GURU Shower system is best shower system for the money!

    Thank you so much. I'm a a 71 year old lady new DIY. I'm making my own kitchen Island with minimal tools. I have the Hacksaw and new blades. I don't want to spend anymore money than I have too. Love the easy way you showed how to do the miter corner with the Aluminum trim. God bless you for helping the new DIY.

    Loved your attention to the layout in this video. If you're not putting these showers together on daily basis it can become very hard to picture how they come together. Always a good idea to dry-fit if you're new or haven't done it before.

    Hi, are you using cement boards on the studs? Then the membrane over them using thin set? I'm motivating myself to do the shower build and am religiously following your method😇😇

    Always love the vids - learning a lot! CURIOUS >> Why do you only use Green Drywall instead of cement board or Denshield?

    Winni! Love your work! I was wondering if I can repeat the same procedure you just did to waterproof the niche to waterproof my plywood countertops before tiling them? What do you use to glue the Guru membrane to the wood? Thank you so much 💕🇻🇪

    Can someone explain to me the 1/4 inch he gives himself? How does that help him? Won’t that impact the grout line?

    What happened when you have a stud in the middle of the niche??

  • @BonBon770
    @BonBon770 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why don't you build the niche as you build the shower, so as the studs are exposed you can do all that work

      For me it’s hard to know exactly where it will be. I’m not 100% sure how tall the mud job will be

      This is the best way to get it exactly right. I tried building one up front, and it didn't line up!
