Matt I salute you as an ex-Muslim. Actually I can't really call myself an ex-Muslim since I never truly believed but rather had these ideas literally forced upon me since childhood. I remember being a 9 year old kid complaining about the inconsistencies of the Quran and being silenced by my religion teacher saying something regarding the miracle of the Quran in literature when even then I thought it to be a bullshit explaination but I was forced to accept it otherwise I risk taking a beating. This is the kind of things happen when you allow religion to take authority. For all the theist apologists out there.

Arsalan Rizvi i don’t really see why your facts are relevant.
The largest group in Islam are south Asians, like Indians and pakistanis. So what? What’s your point?
“The message has impacted billions of lives.”
So? It doesn’t make it true. It’s only impacted about half the lives of Christianity, does that make Christianity twice as true?
      “The message has remained uncorrupted.”
It doesn’t matter since it’s never been established to be true.

These guys have no idea what they are talking about. In order to study a book (in this case the Quran) and see how it is unique (in this case God's word) you analyze the text from linguistic point of view. To begin with, prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not able to read or write himself, so there goes the theory that he borrowed it from other books. Now lets talk about the linguistics of the Quran, after studying it they concluded that it's not man-made. This is based on the style of writing of that time, the books/writers of that time, the poets, scholars etc. The uniqueness of the vocabulary, the length of the verses, the choice of metaphors, the ability to memorize the Quran word for word makes it miraculous. The predictions that it has made have all come true. The content of it is supported by science: mountains acting as pegs and giving stability to land, the pulsating star, the expansion of the universe, the revolving of planets around the sun, the creation of living things from water, the formation of rain from clouds.....the list goes on an on. NONE of it goes against science. Only recently they discovered the pulsating star and it was written about in the Quran more than 1400 years ago. Only recently they found out that the universe is expanding, the Quran stated this more than 1400 years ago. So when the Quran challenges you to write a verse like it, you take all of that into consideration. These guys are just giving their baselss opinions without knowing anything about the Quran.

When I was a kid , I was told all the time that if I sinned I'd burn forever and never see my mom, which horrified me because she had cancer. When I was 6 my grandfather actually told me that if I ever turned out gay that he'd kill me, he pointed to a shotgun and said ill.blow your head off. It's not always about just being irrational , it's about making people afraid of being themselves.

@ the fact that the scriptures points to God tells me nothing about whether that God is factual or real.
If Lord of the Rings points to Sauron does that mean he's real?
And here's the problem - SCRIPTURE - languages and interpretations change and evolve which leads to conflict and differences of opinion. Notice in Islam how quick Muslims are to re-interpret controversial verses a variety of ways because Allah want clear enough, or the verses are embarrassing enough to force them to re-interpret. These are the proverbial Allah's helpers or clarifiers.
If this is the best method a God has in delivering his message - it's utterly counter-productive and a failed system.
If he has other ways but won't use it - it's not my problem, shouldn't be my problem.
      Peace to u 2.

    • @majeedm689
      @majeedm689 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

@ Scriptures alluding to God has nothing to do with whether there is a God. The Greeks alluded to Thor so therefore Thor was a god, right? The primitive tribes in Papua New Guinea also have a god, so therefore they received scripture, right?
When people don't have answers, they invent gods - it's part of our evolutionary development. Sauron just represents this "all seeing eye" another facet of a god. It's all myth, stories and fantasies.
Islam has to be pluralistic to account for the massive fallacies, discrepancies and contradictions contained in the Quran.
Without a proper central message but rather dualistic in nature, people have no choice but to invent stuff and apply it.
Simply put Islam is not required if there's already beliefs out there that are less pluralistic, make more sense, more tolerant and produces fewer terrorists.

11:07 - "We don't need to go there". Yes you do (as Matt rightly says). When a religion says it holds up a paedophile as a holy man, something is really wrong. The argument that is often used to refute this is one of "Oh, things were different in those times" but then the next question would have to be "Then why are you taking these peoples' word for things?" if they were basing their morals on their societies' morals of the time which even you think was lacking.

I was wondering what that means since it causes some logical problems , no book is same as the other , I can say that Mozart and Beethoven composed musics that nobody can produce like it ,
    Is that a miracle too , ?!
It is hard to understand what it means really , just a claim that makes no sense .

Why does a self-sustaining, omnipotent being require and demand self-worship to such degree that he is inclined to punish his own creation for eternity in a place of anguish if they don't follow his instructions closely or offer him continual propitiations through an ancient book written in a language that a small percentage of the Earth's population can read and fewer can understand? A book that is open to interpretation and susceptible to incorrect and jumbled translation? Of course god would dictate his message--through his final prophet--in a language that only a few camel-herds located in the ass-end of nowhere spoke. He'd also ensure that the only people who could truly understand his message would have to be fluent in that language.
You see, there’s no such thing as “real Islam”; there are multiple versions of it, however. Apart from the few most basic concepts, like the existence of heaven and hell, and oneness of Allah, each Muslim has a slightly different idea and understanding of what Islam entails and demands, and that’s completely natural, since Islam is what the average human beings of unexceptional intelligence subjectively understand and believe.
Some view this as a flaw in God’s design, leaving the religion in the hands of imperfect humans. A God could’ve sent his commands telepathically to all humans, but, for some reason, chose to write a book in a language which more than half the world doesn't even understand. A book over the interpretations of which mankind has been bickering, fighting and even killing for over a thousand years. We may blame this on the stupidity of human beings, but who created these stupid humans in the first place? And more importantly, why did He not anticipate the inevitable sectarianism?

The Qur'an is perfectly balanced, just as God says that it is. For every time God threatens the punishment of hellfire he also says that He is the Most Merciful and forgives whomever He wants. Funny, the more people like yourself who don't believe that the Qur'an could be the Word of God protest, the more I adore it. I love every word of the Qur'an. The Quran came from Mohammed's brain, not from Yahweh. Yahweh is imaginary.
"As it was initially spoken, the Quran was recorded on tablets, bones, and the wide, flat ends of date palm fronds. However, the Quran did not exist in book form at the time of Muhammad's death in 632. There is agreement among scholars that Muhammad himself did not write down the revelations.
Thomas Carlyle, after reading Sale's translation, called the Quran "toilsome reading and a wearisome confused jumble, crude, incondite" with "endless iterations, long-windedness, entanglement" and "insupportable stupidity." He said it is the work of a "great rude human soul". Gerd Rüdiger Puin noted that approximately every fifth sentence of it does not make any sense despite the Qur'an's own claim of being a clear book. Salomon Reinach wrote that this book warrants little merit from a literary point of view. " Wikipedia

What's he talking about is called the Quran challenge, and it's the most ridiculous thing ever, because even if you were to prove that the Quran is not the product of human mind, it doesn't mean it's from God , since the god claim itself has not met its burden of proof and even then you would still have to establish the divinity involvement since other agencies must be ruled out as well such as aliens or even angels and demons.
Secondly, the Quran is full of contradictions and errors on all levels let alone being the worst "literature" ever composed and as a fluent Arabic speaking ex-Muslim I know for a fact that Arabic poetry is far more eloquent, articulate and coherent than any given Quranic verse especially the pre-Islamic literature which is highly rich in such qualities and right to the point, in fact if there's any beauty found in the Quran is due to Muhammad's plagiarism of pre-Islamic poetry.

@@arsalanrizvi4616 Being an ex-Mislim does tend to make one more qualified than most people in the Western world to challenge Islam. That does not make him an authority, and he never claimed to be one. Also being more qualified than most in the "Western world" is hardly an achievement nor is it a proper way to measure ones knowledge on the subject.
