    This is the first time I heard about Morning pages. After I watched the video, I sat down and wrote on 3 A4 pages (didnt know what format people usualy use, but I think that is the right size for me because I have soooo much in my head all the time). Felt liberated and hope to continue this practise. I feel so good now. Thank you for this.

    Thanks for being clear about morning pages. Always wrote all over the place, no consistency. I can see how this helps ❤

    There is no right or wrong way to do anything creative. Do what works for you with no stress of trying to fit a pattern.

    Thank you so much for this video. I first started doing Morning Pages at the start of 2019, filled up my first notebook and then fell off the wagon, not even sure why as I was enjoying the process. Now I am on day 22 of writing them again, and loving it. My notebook and pen are on my bedside table, I don't even get up to write them first thing in the morning, I sometimes don't even prop myself up either. The book is on my chest, vertically, so I am writing 'away' from me, and my pen barely leaves the paper. I just write, and write, and write. My handwriting writing this way is so awful, even I can't read it, but I'm not interested in reading them, I just want to clear my head and get on with my day. I have already got a few more notebooks lined up so hopefully this time, I will continue to do this for a very long time. Again, thank you for this video. So nice to hear someone explain the difference between journaling and writing Morning Pages.

    I struggle with writing 3 pages not because I don't have thoughts but because I think at a different pace than I write.

    • @donnajaemoon
      @donnajaemoon ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think I know what you mean. So, just to make sure my pen keeps moving until I’ve written three pages, I’ll have to maybe let some thoughts go or capture them when they occur to me again. I’m just starting. But I’m thinking I shouldn’t spend time trying to write cohesive thoughts. Until I get a better understanding of exactly what stream of consciously actually us, I’l just write thoughts as they come - kind of like a brain dump, I guess.

      Most people think at a different pace than they write!
      This is a practice. Writing what you can...and the goal often is to activate the right sided part of your brain (which is what happens with writing)...vs only the left side of your brain (which our society is led side dominant), which is where thinking continues to spin.
      Writing can be a way to get the thoughts processed differently.
      Just trying and writing what you can, is more than fine.
      Our mind, will come up with all sorts of excuses, obstacles, and unfortunately it can be self sabotaging.
      Meditation can help slow down thoughts too.

    Julia have said time and time again that there is no right or wrong way to do morning pages

    • @maryl.7226
      @maryl.7226 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      She says that, but also “insists” on handwriting, 3 pages (blank? narrow ruled? wide ruled? college ruled?) dedicated to stream of consciousness, first thing in the morning… so actually, she has several ways of insisting there is a “right way.”

    This was totally different from any TH-cam video. Its just audio. Is that called a podcast? Is that why it is only audio?

    • @Idkdude50
      @Idkdude50 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. Podcast is usually over a platform with no visuals, but this one is on TH-cam as well.

    I’ve only heard about morning pages but am curious. I saw a video where someone describes doing morning pages but never reading them later on. Is this correct ?????

    • @ILOVE2FeelGOOD
      @ILOVE2FeelGOOD ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, most people don't read back their pages afterwards because it's a brain dump.

    I have an issue with writing what I’m thinking instead of thinking of what to write. I feel like I’m not thinking about so much at 5:30am lol. Many times I have to stop writing and think of what to write. I’ve been doing them for about a month and I feel like it’s a journal. Then again I’m only 16 minutes into the podcast, so maybe I’ll get some answers soon 😉

      It may help to meditate after doing a short breathing exercise before you start them.

      That's a hard jump to make but as you keep up morning pages the process will become more natural to you. I've been writing morning pages for 30 years. It definitely took a few months to smooth out the process.

    • @maryl.7226
      @maryl.7226 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can just write “I don’t know what to write, I don’t know what to write…” your brain won’t stay parked there long. Other thoughts come very quickly!

    Paper needs to be 8 1/2 x 11” - three pages. No more, no less.

      So those who live in a country other than the U.S. can’t do the pages because they can’t get US Letter-size paper?

    THERE'S NO RIGHT WAY. JUST WRITE

  • @Sub0x-x40
    @Sub0x-x40 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i can barely write 1 paragraph. my mind is generally empty upon waking

    • @Sub0x-x40
      @Sub0x-x40 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so i generally just write one paragraph

    • @craigfoulkes
      @craigfoulkes ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Sub0x-x40 keep trying. You may finds the words will come eventually. Each session is different. Sometimes the words flow, sometimes it's harder. So times it is insightful other times it is drivel.

      Try typing. I HATE long hand morning pages, but if you type at least 750 words, that's roughly the same thing. It's the same benefit, just a different way to do it.

    The book first came out in 1992 don’t make it sound like it’s that old as if it were the bible.
