Thank you soooo much - these are such special words and I am so pleased you liked my video.
Well done for making it so far in the course, it seems many people stop after a couple of weeks. It really is an amazing, life-changing course if done in its entirety.
I just wrote my morning pages this morning (I do them every morning) and some great stuff came out. They really are medicine.
I wish you well and thank you so much for your lovely comment, it really gives me the confidence to make more videos 🙏🏼
PS - I will check out your videos!

I was aware of the book for years!
There is a small element of disappointment that I didn't make the time and effort for the course earlier. But now I've done it I am so thankful. Also, in the past I didn't have the time or space.

Someone left the book behind when I moved into her apartment, and I gave it away. Nearly 3 years later, I saw the book at a giveaway and started the program. I had to laugh at the part with the man who wanted to go into film school somehow got in through work, quit in fear, and realized years later that he should have done it. It was the same for my book. It was like a boomerang; it was there, I gave it away, and it came back to me at this specific moment in my life.

I started crying so hard when you were talking about a letter from your 80 yo self
I’m on week one and amazed how the tasks changed how I see myself. It uncovered all of the childhood trauma and why I see myself in a negative light, bullying and hating myself.
I’m so happy to be somewhat rid of those chains now and this is only chapter one. I’m really excited to go through this program and videos like this help me be even more encouraged!

I'm a little nervous. I'll soon be 67 years old and wonder if there is hope for me to get motivated doing my art. You have convinced me to have a go honest go at this book. Thank you so much. Laura, it is easy to see what a big heart you have, and also how hard you can be on yourself. It’s been my way, too. Your weekly progress really did yourself proud. Personal growth and creativity will only come through being there for all of who you are including the very worst times not just the fun stuff. This is how we experience our life. I read this book in the 90’s and loved it, and still have it. The spiritual path has been my basic type as a writer and artist/ graphic designer, painter, all my life and now in my 60’s. The learning, loving, and creative urge never leaves those of us who are committed to being fascinated with being awesome right here right now, every day! 🙏📖✝️💟🇦🇺

Synchronic stumbling upon your video this morning. You inspire me at 64 to return to Julia's creative processes that censor repeatedly blocked with "after you do this first" and as you say, conditioning oneself to do it all and do it perfectly and then not doing at all. Whether it be work, children, house or where and when--time to let go of shadow artist tendencies. Your vulnerability and authenticity enCOURAGEs!

WOW! Thank you so much Laura, for opening up and allowing us to be a part of your very personal journey. I got this book about 30 years ago on recommendation of an Acting coach and I'm sad to say I didn't follow through. My 18 year old is a Dance Major at University and her Professor recommended it. She started telling me about it and I was like..."Oh, my goodness, I have that book upstairs in my library." She asked if she could borrow it, and I said I would gladly get her her very own copy because after watching your video, I am so inspired to crack this book open again and stay the course. When the student is ready, the Teacher will Appear! Knock Knock....Come on In! XO Thank you for your video - you are helping change lives, and THANK YOU to Julia Cameron for sharing her brilliance. Onward we go! (Heather Campbell)

Your videos are very good. At 65 myself basically what it all pretty much comes to be more free is to practically forget the opinions of others about ourselves...once you get rid of that negative and critical voice of "others" you will get a LOT BETER AND FREEER ...than before...this does not means to just do anything crazy it means doing authentically what you really love to do..and or to be...thanks for your honest videos

    What a great video!
I actually started the course not long ago, and I want to use this comment to talk in detail about each week, because I'm already writing A LOT on paper thanks to the morning pages, so this will feel fresh and different. I'm stil on day 7, but I'll keep editing the comment each week.
I used to love drawing, painting and trying all types of crafts when I was a kid, but due to a lack of encouragement, a lot of misconceptions about artists (you're gonna be poor, it's useless, if you're not a genius by a certain age you might as well stop doing it) and who knows what else (I'm sure this book will help me discover it) I lost my creativity and love for art. I miss it very much.
Week 1: I would say it was a successful first week. I did the morning pages every day, 3 pages like I'm supposed to, had my artists date and did every single task. I wasn't feeling my best and the weather was not great, so my date was very simple. I put on a movie I had wanted to watch for a while, prepared myself some good snacks and just enjoyed myself. I enjoyed the morning pages most days (yesterday I didn't, I didn't sleep well so I was tired and cranky). I also enjoyed the tasks. I completed all of them because they were enjoyable and I had a lot of free time. I cried with two of the exercises while remembering the people who have hurt my creativity. I remembered some things about my past that I had forgotten. That was very cool and pushed me to continue with the tasks, because although it was painful it was very insightful and I know this kind of pain really helps. I've only experienced this with therapy, so this looks very promising. With all that said... I haven't noticed any changes with my creativity. I'm still blocked. I'll continue to be consistent. I'm very excited to start week 2 tomorrow, and also for new year's.
Week 2: This week wasn't as impactful as the first one, but it went very well. I did all the morning pages, all the exercises and I went on a proper artist date. I went out to eat by myself and then went to a comic book store I like and checked out artbooks and comics (It had been ages since I had a moment like that for myself). I really liked the chapter, it was very interesting and I related to the things she explained, and everything went well since I did all the tasks, but the difference with the first one is that i didn't really feel any strong emotions. I expect this to change at some point. But I'm still going strong, very motivated.
Week 3: I'm writing this on Monday, January 17th. I've already started the fourth week, but I forgot to write about the third one. I was very busy with final exams, which made.me stay up late some days. I didn't almost all the morning pages (I missed a day) and I did all the exercises (today, 2 days later than I should have) but I forgot about my artists date. To summarise, this week was a bit of a mess, but I'll make sure to organise my time better and do well on the fourth week. I still enjoy the morning pages, and the exercises are more helpful than I thought. Then help me discover new things about myself, and they're very interesting and quite fun in my opinion. I feel myself making small progress.
Week 4: I definitely did better than the previous week. I completed all the exercises, I did all the morning pages and I did my artists date, even if it was super small (grabbing some snacks and watching Bluey for the first time). The weather is starting to get better to next week I'll go on a proper date. This week I felt...good. I feel weird cause I think the exercises are what's helping me the most. I cried while writing a letter to my 80 year old self. And also while writing a letter to my 8 year old self. I keep feeling more and more...free. And I'm really starting to believe that maybe creating isn't selfish and shouldn't be painful or a struggle. I feel like I keep making progress. I'm close to getting unblocked and being able to create art. I'm gonna start reading week 5 now.
Week 5: I've started to see changes. For the first time in a long time, I suddenly felt the urge to draw, so I did. It was only a couple doodles, but it was something, and I'm very happy about it. I'm trying to open up a bit more on the morning pages, and this week I wrote them 4 out of the 7 days. My artists date was fun, I finally went out and just had a nice time by myself, went to my favourite book store and looked at artbooks and comics, had some cake at a nice coffee shop and took a long walk. I don't think I've experienced any serendipity yet, Like Julia mentions, but I keep paying attention in case that I do. This week has been good,I hope the next one is too.
Week 6: I liked the chapter, but this week has been the least productive for me. I was very busy and on top of that I caught a bad cold, so I did only half of the morning pages, less than half of the exercises and didn't go on the artist date. This hasn't discouraged me, it was a bad week but I'm excited for the next, I'm gonna start reading week 7 now and tomorrow I'll wake up extra early for my pages. I'll start doing the exercises and organising the date today, so everything is easier.
Week 7: I barely have time to write this before I forget, but this week has been great. I'm back on track, and I feel like the chapter really resonated with me. I experienced serendipity, and I found a great art store that also has drawing classes. I know where I have to go now. This will be my starting point. I enjoyed the part about perfectionism a lot
Week 8: I think this has been my favourite chapter until now. Either this one or the previous one. I felt like she was talking directly to me, so it was very hard to read, because she knows my excuses, and she knows my fears. This chapter really shook me, and I would like to reread weeks 7 and 8 if I have doubts in the future. I think I am making progress, though I am still very afraid.
Week 9: Every week has impacted me more than the last one since I reached week 6, and this one made me cry. It made.me realise how far my fear goes, and how much I self sabotage myself because of my fear. For the first time, I fully understand why I am blocked. From the reasons why it started and the people who led me to become this way through their actions, to the way I try to evade myself and sabotage my journey in the present. I am still afraid, but it's empowering to know that I understand that fear better now. Bow, whenever I interrupt my own growth at least I'll know I'm doing it and I'll be able to do something about it. I'm very excited for week 10.
Week 10: This week wasn't nearly as good as the previous 2. I liked the chapter, although it didn't impact me as much as the previous ones. The main problem is that I'm self sabotaging myself. Now I realise when I'm doing it, which I think is amazing in itself, but it sucks that I did it this week. I didn't go on the artists date and I only did the morning pages 3 out of 7 days. I did almost all of the exercises though. I've only got 2 weeks left and I have to make the most of them, so I'll try my best to avoid doing it. I really want this to work...

Laura, thank you so much for sharing this experience. It’s so relatable, vulnerable, and inspiring, let alone well-presented and structured. The analogy of a chained-up animal that you mentioned in the Week 4 video diary made me so emotional. I already ordered the whole bundle. Can’t wait to cut those chains and run free, as you put it. Funny enough, your video about reigniting creativity and making stuff actually made me write this comment. I’ve been watching TH-cam videos for years and years and can’t really remember when I engaged. Well, here I am not just doing the mental chatter but typing my thoughts out and engaging. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with this and for being so honest. My friend and I have not heard of this book, but will add it to our reading list (as we share many motivational books together) and plan to add it to our list of challenges to undertake.
It's funny, but my friend and I are a similar age to you and have also found a renewed energy and drive to live the life we want. We have always been pretty motivated anyway, but it has gone to another level in recent years. It is great to watch your videos, be inspired by your journey and realise there are like-minded people out there, as we struggle sometimes with feeling like outsiders with our positive and driven mindset.
Anywho, thanks again LT, we really appreciate your videos and inspiration.

What you said in week eleven is so profound I felt like you were speaking directly to me, I realise I need to create and when I don’t, everything falls apart in my life and I’m not the best version of myself when I’m not creating. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Thank you for sharing your experience with The Artist's Way course...I have the book and have started and stopped a few times. I recently started but as I told someone that I'm doing the course I was told I'm doing too many things at once as I was on a seven day cleanse. I then stopped during the first day of the first week. Then I felt to reconnect with my fashion sewing and felt just to play on the sewing machine with some music...your video was shorting out for me to select and you have really got me back on track to recommence with the course. I replayed your video and feel so inspired to do this as I'll be sixty this summer. I do night shift and finish 7am so I'll still do the morning pages from around 7.30am. Well done that you stuck it out! I also want to load up my own TH-cam channel but like what you mentioned about the voices this was happening. Anyway, thank you and thank you Julia Cameron. 🙏🧡

I LOVE your vids! You have inspired me in two different ways this week - the first was the high protein meal plan and then to do the Artists Way (I have had the book in the cupboard for about twenty years and had a few lukewarm goes at it). When you explained about the synchronicity aspect, that helped me to understand how powerful it is. I told myself half way through this video, 'why bother trying this again, you will probably give up', but then I watched to the end and just seeing how effective it can be, when you fed back the impact it had on you, has motivated me - I am not very good with not knowing where I am going, so this was just what I needed!! Both videos are informative, honest and you are so open hearted! Big thanks from me and keep up the amazing work! 🥰

WOWSA! The last few minutes of your video made me CRY! You are living life to the fullest and there is nothing more to this life than that! I'm so inspired by you. I can feel your wonderful energy all throughout your video. Thank you so much for sharing your story and such intimate and vulnerable parts of yourself, along with the powerful self you displayed in the last few moments of this video.... that which you've allowed yourself to become. YOU.
I have been meaning to read this book, which I had already purchased several years ago. But, it's been sitting on my bookshelf collecting dust rather than memories in my life. I needed to hear your insistent urging...JUST DO IT & DO IT NOW!!! You are so right.... we don't want to reach an age that we later regret not doing that which we want to do in life. There is no better time than the present. So, I'm going to do it! I'm going to start Morning Pages. THANK YOU! You are a beautiful soul and you've touched many lives.

my therapist gave me this book last year to help me get in touch with my emotions (and therefore regain access to my creativity) and i wasnt ready to start it. Now I am, and I'm a bit scared but I know its what I need to do. I really appreciated that you talked about missing a week or feeling disconnected some weeks and talking about learning discipline with it and those are all things I really needed to hear/see. I might even try recording video updates even if I never plan to post them. I'm always worried that if I dont do everything perfect I can't continue it and I realize that that sense of defeat is the censor. I may watch your video weekly just to help me pull through. so thank you!

Laura, I can’t even start typing because my eyes are filled with tears. The first words that comes to mind are “Thank You.” I stumbled across your video after searching and searching for “clarity” and I am so glad I found you. This morning was my very first morning pages entry and although I kept finding a lot of excuses to start writing I finally did it and it went well. I wrote 5 pages and felt fine ending my last sentence. Although I did well, I felt i needed something else, more “clarity” and that is when I found you. I have been going through an extremely rough time presently. Making decisions are very difficult. Especially when you are going through depression and to be so afraid of the uncertainty. Your video gave me that push. That clarity I have been looking for and I cannot thank you enough. Your last two sentences are what did it for me. Please know those two sentences are immensely powerful. Thank you so much. May God bless you every single day of your life and that you may be healthy, happy and strong when you reach 80 and may you continue to live way past that. Again, Thank You. All my best wishes to you, Marisol 🙏🌹❤️

Interesting...came across your fasting vid...I've done in the last month two 36hr fasts even weight workout periods (I'm 70) and had a good experience...then I found your Artist Way experience which was encouraging. I've purchased the book twice over the years. One time I was doing an Artist day...and had an amazing spiritual experience. I was in an area of the City I've never been in before. I knew my way around the place? Then it hit me... my Mum and Dad lived there at the beginning of their Marriage, and Mum was pregnant with me ... it was like I was aware of the area even before I was born. Your well explained journey through Julia's book has inspired me to begin anew...thank you.
