  • ARNE SLOT, BEST OF THE REST? | LIVERPOOL NEXT MANAGER TIER RANKING. With Xabi committing his future to Leverkusen, Ruben Amorim in talks with West Ham, and Gary O'Neil and Arne Slot on the shortlist I'm trying to figure out how I feel about the search for Jurgen Klopp's Anfield successor. To help I made a tier list based on a few basic criteria. Leave your thoughts below.

    Zidane - no English

How about instead of crying and complaining let’s get behind the guy and give him a chance if he gets the job. Lets be honest anyone who’s going to be coming into liverpool is going to be compared to klopp and I think it’s honestly unfair. If he does good then great and if he ends up being crap for us then yeah I would want him out. Anyone who says the future of liverpool is in shambles is being very overdramatic imo I trust the board to get it right and I hope they end up making the right choice and proving everyone wrong. Just because he’s not a well known name among most fans or that he’s dutch doesn’t mean that the guy will be crap right away or that he shouldn’t be given a chance I think it’s very stupid. I think fans should do their research and actually see what he brings to the table rather than just going off emotions and what the internet is saying. He has an interesting tactical approach, he’s good with transfers, and he’s good with youth players which would be great to have considering the amount of bright young players we have. I’m backing the guy until I see there’s a reason or two that I cant. Lets make the guy feel welcome and just see what he does and hope he turns out be the right guy instead of being a toxic doomer.

    • @sevenforcex
      @sevenforcex 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

Utd and Arsenal are very good examples of how you can set your team back decades by making the wrong choice, this already happened to Liverpool in the past hence a 30 year wait, I'm pretty sure nobody wants to wait another 30 years, this manager is going to be a massive choice for the future of Liverpool.

    • @collin18806
      @collin18806 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@sevenforcex I can understand the anxiety Liverpool fans are having right now one hundred percent and they have the right to feel that way or have some concerns it’s a weird crazy time being a Liverpool fan right now absolutely no one was expecting us to be in this situation so I obviously understand but I just think some of the fans writing this guy off right away and acting like they already know what’s going to happen before he even steps into anfield is just a little crazy to me. I genuinely believe slot has some of the tools to come in and build on what klopp is leaving us with and that he should have the right to prove he’s the man for the job if Liverpool think he is that guy. Them being open about hiring someone who might not be well known and taking time with choosing the right guy instead of just hiring a popular name just shows me they are putting a lot of thought into it and imo I would rather have them do that and take a daring approach like this I actually respect it a lot more as a fan than just hiring the most popular name right away just because of his name or hype he’s been getting on the internet. If slot doesn’t work out then it would suck and I really hope that isn’t going to be the case but if he just doesn’t work out then he just doesn’t but right now no one should be saying anything till we see the team out on the pitch. I know a lot of fans wanted Ruben but it wasn’t an absolute guarantee that he was going to just come in and be great right away and from what it looks like we will never know so there’s nothing me or the fans can do about it. Im going to be honest I didn’t know who slot was like a lot of fans i don’t watch a lot of the Dutch league at all but instead of being upset right away I did my background check on him and there’s a lot I like about him and honestly the more I dig deep into him the more I’m actually sold on him. If all the reports are true that he is indeed the preferred candidate he now has the chance to come in and show us if he is truly worthy of this opportunity to be on this position managing a club like Liverpool and to show the board that they made the right choice by appointing him so we will see if he proves himself worthy. My point is that only time will really tell if this hire was the best choice and it’s way too early to judge so those fans who are saying we are setting ourselves up for failure or that the clubs future is in jeopardy already by appointing slot should calm down and relax a little bit that’s all having that mentality just sounds to me that they want it to happen just to prove themselves right and it’s just toxic to think that way as a fan. There are positives of bringing in slot and there’s a lot of good things that have been said about him trust me if it’s really going to be slot like the reports are indicating we could’ve chosen someone way worse. I was going to be okay with whoever it was no matter if it was Gary O’Neil or someone like a Thomas Frank I was going to back them regardless because I’m confident in Liverpool getting it right and I really hope they just made the right decision if it’s slot. Im sorry for all the yapping I basically wrote a whole novel but I wish the fans would just chill for a second 💀

Just some info on Arne Slot. First and most important. He let his teams play like Liverpool does right now. So full pressure on the opponent and plays with offensive and attractive football.
Slot fist came in to my view at AZ. It was a team a little bit in trouble. Not much money to spend. Not the best players. He became coach and he started evolve the youth at AZ. Some of them were integrated in to the squad. And he changed the style to the mentioned offensive style I mentioned. Many of those young players changed teams for good money. It made AZ financially heathy again. Now AZ has one of the best football academies in the Netherlands.
3 years ago Arne Slot became the coach of Feyenoord. Feyenoord had no money at all. And indeed they were in debt by ‘de vrienden van Feyenoord’ (friends of Feyenoord, who borrowed money to the club to keep the club alive)
He did the same with Feyenoord as he did with AZ. He let Feyenoord buy a few cheap players. Took some of the youth players, changed the playing style and conquered the hearts of the Feyenoord supporters. Also that of the neutral football supporters. In his first season he reached to the final of the Conference league. Again, with somewhat mediocre players. Second year Feyenoord became quit unexpectedly National champion. 5 of his young players made it to the National team. Some foreign young players made it to their National teams.
Only question mark for me is if he can coop with the pressure at a real European top team. En yes. He did not win de pig prices. Which was impossible with this group of players.

I’m still not over Klopp leaving, it’s overshadowed everything this season. I also don’t know why on Earth they announced it so early, if they are still scrabbling around to replace him ( thought it was announced early as we needed to interview replacements, but we are only doing this now 🤯🤯🤯)
If we wanted to wait until we got Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes in place, then again why announce Klopp leaving so early?
It’s starting to feel like last summers transfer window all over again - let’s just hope it turns out as well.😭😭😭

I wouldnt say no to Jose. You got to take your emotions out of it. No matter how he plays, he's a born winner, there's no disputing that. He's also got the personality for the job and wont bottler it when it comes going head to head with Pep.
He wouldn't be the long term replacement for me but to make sure we dont dip or fall off in the short term, he's ideal.
If it means having a solid defence, being hard to beat and still competing, I'd take that.
The go for Xabi, IF we can get him.
But lets be honest, out of all the names that have actually been linked, Mourinho's CV pisses all over everyone else

Xavi!? Why would you want him??? Just a manager. Maybe decent. Won La Liga while the club is in chaos so that’s not nothing. But with the players / recourses / financial doping they’ve got working for them - coming 2nd should be a failure. He was gifted the job, and wasn’t wanted by anyone else. Has shown his limitations in Europe. Does he speak any English? Thankfully not an option. Slot sounds interesting, as does Amorim and Mota feels like the next wave of talent along with Xabi.
Klopp u-turn for one more go while Xabi gets ready for the big job. Would take Pep for the interim role too. Maybe he’ll smash it🤞🤞

Problem is Arne slot has lost 3 times in Europe to Jose Mourinho's Roma. That is poor, we dont need someone
who does not know how to win against a poor Roma team. He has won one Dutch title and one Dutch cup. 2 trophies in 4 years and he is now Liverpool manager, ten hag had a better record than slot in Dutch league and he is terrible. Slot reminds me of a poor version of ten Hag, he is just not good enough. Jose schooled him 3 times and Guardiola will eat him alive.
He just feels like someone who is happy to come 2nd or 3rd in the league and win a cup, thats not good enough. And he is no way in same league as Ruben Amorim, who will be doing the league and cup double twice with Sporting.

NGL, I will take Mourinho. Might be his redemption arc for what happened in 13/14 but if he gets us 1 league title and leaves in 2 seasons I'm good. The thing about Mourinho is he always manages with a chip on his shoulder and does not slack in his first two seasons. Southgate, NO, PLEASE NO. De Zerbi, he's too green. Hence, you see Brighton see-sawing a bit this season. Slot, he has won trophies but will need a lot of time to adapt to the league, our success with Dutch players has been good but would it translate managerial wise? Tuchel, he's too impatient and inconsistent. Gary O'Neil and Eddie Howe, ABSOLUTELY NOT. Iraola, he's again too green like De Zerbi but I like his brand of football. However, Liverpool might be too big a club for him. Emery, would take him but there would be the language barrier and he can go on cold streaks.

I don't hate Slot as the manager, but he doesn't entirely fill me with confidence either. Slot is a winner, he's been able to progress Feyenoord from a sort of limbo to worthy champions with fun attacking football, and he had AZ (which is like the Dutch equavelant of Aston Villa) competing for the title in the covid season before it got cancelled. He's definitely shown he can form and manage a title winning side, he's a good communicator, and he's first and foremost a coach which means he'll probably work well with Edwards - as opposed to someone like Mourinho who wants control. The big questionmark is if he can make the step up to the highest level, as people coming out of the Eredivisie don't exactly have a good track record at bigger leagues.

The way I see it is we are now looking for a head coach with the new setup and these managers need to fit with that, so the likes of Zinadin and Jose fall out of it from there. Other seemingly important considerations are our playing style we are a 4231 or a 433 side and as Ruben is a 3 52 that knocks him out. Finally the manager has to contend with FSG and their broken promises and that is where Pep falls away. I can only see the Bellingham situation last summer fried it for Jurgen and Pep, too often too many lies from FSG and the new manager will need to produce with very limited expectations of spending

Amorim is the most wanted manager in Europe at the moment. This is very bad if Liverpool are not willing to pay his demand to get the man.

Arne Slot is Ten Hag 2.0 i am concerned this is the level of unproven manager we are linked with. Winning the dutch league with feynord is like winning the scottish league with celetic or rangers. It proves nothing other than you are good enough to win a 2 horse race.

Yeah, especially since this season Feyenoord lost a league to PSV while having superior squad (for the most part) and in a season when Ajax have the worst season in modern times. Also knocked out of the UCL at group stages in a group with Lazio and Celtic.

I know it was covered here as the news broke after recording but as a genuine question is there that much difference between Slot and Amorim?
Both upset the applecart in leagues just below the elite with the recognised 3rd best teams in those leagues. Both play attractive attacking football (Slot's being closer in terms of formation to Liverpool).
I know the Ten Hag thing leaves a sour taste, but plenty of other managers have come from the Eredivisie and done well elsewhere in Europe.

It's an interesting question, one I'll defo cover on another video now I've had time to digest it. In short though I think I agree with you, Alonso, Amorim and Slot have all broken the long eatablished cartels of their leagues whilst promoting youth and playing attacking football. The hardest part is gauging the quality of the leagues.

This is where I have to draw the line and say get Gerrard until Alonso wants to come, i'll take anyone who actually understands the club before they care about the games they manage, we can replicate wins eventually but we cannot replicate the bond between manager and club without someone who takes the job purely for the passion first and the opportunity second

Alonso choice would be too early and he knows that himself. Needs to have more international experience. A manager for the future. Liverpool Barcelona Bayern all need a new manager. Exiting developments. Slot the best choice for now.

Priorities for whoever comes in....1. Another CDM to back-up Endo or be first choice. 2. A Left Sided CB because, we just need one. 3. A prolific striker, maybe Osimhen or Gyeokeres.....I Love Nunez but is he going to be a 20 or 25 goal a season striker....he blows hot and cold for me.

Can you imagine comparing Liverpool to other clubs with questions like have they won a major trophy. How can you ignore the number of major trophies won in your ranking.
