On a purely professional level - if Xabi is ambitious then Liverpool is the job he’ll choose. For one it’s a job that doesn’t come around that often. It’s a more forgiving environment, it’s a more challenging league and he can test himself in the most competitive league with one of the best in Pep and his childhood friend in Arteta. The Liverpool job would give him more discretion in terms of direction and transfers than Bayern would.

  • @earnst5407
    @earnst5407 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I believe he'll choose Liverpool.
Bayern, as you say, will always be there or thereabouts with regards to league position. They'll always cannibalise the Bundesliga for it's best players and are by far and away the richest club in the league.
Real Madrid will always be able to buy super star players and will always choose to buy players with high commercial value as well. So similar to Bayern, that managerial position will always remain what it is. The profile of those opportunities more or less stay the same and come around every two or three years.
The Liverpool job is now, for a number of reasons. The depth of the senior squad is ridiculous and it's a fantastic blend of experience and exciting young players. Players who've won everything and players who've yet to win trophies. The club is one of the best clubs in the world, playing the most exciting football. The academy is in place and will bear fruit. The next appointment, should they be successful, is likely to remain in place for half a decade. The owners won't be there forever and they're in place now to continue to develop the club for the long term. They've a proven track record and the club is going in one direction. He'll also have the opportunity to face his own greatest manager in Pep and be competitive. That opportunity may not come around again for the remainder of his career. He'll instantly receive the warmth of the fans who'll give him time to settle.
If he does choose LFC, I don't see him changing much in the first season. Why would you? It's a well-oiled machine. That also affords him more time to get used to league from the managerial perspective and identify the players he wants to bring in himself, and the style he thinks will return the most rewards. Liverpool is the "no brainer", imo. I'm biased, but objectively speaking, it has the most upside and the least downside.

Xabi would in my humble opinion be doing himself no favours if he went anywhere else but Liverpool he was a legend as a player at Liverpool and he knows everything a manager needs to know about the club and it’s fans and set up. everything is in his favour, yes he could bomb out and mess things up, but I believe the odds of that happening is a lot less likely because of all the pros in his favour, he has proved to himself that he has the right tools in his locker to make things work. I knew nothing about Klop when he came to our beloved club, but now he should have a statue built along with Shankly, Paisley and any other great’ Liverpool manager, I’m sure Xabi would also be amongst [them

Xabi Alonso might choose Bayern over Liverpool because:
    1. Less competition in Bundesliga offers a potentially easier path to winning the Champions League.
    2. Lower managerial pressure at Bayern compared to Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp have set high standards.
    3. Alonso's familiarity with coaching in the Bundesliga could make it a more comfortable environment for him.

    • @dave-ld8mo
      @dave-ld8mo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. I get your point. But if you believe you cannot get a Top 4 finish in the Prem, you shouldn't think about winning the Champions League at all
      2. doesn't make any sense at all. Bayern sacked Nagelsmann even though he was first in the Bundesliga and doing great in the Championsleague. There is so much pressure for Tuchel, because for once Bayern are second and not first. Despite the points collected by Bayern this season are actually better than in previous seasons. At Liverpool on the other hand, people would be fine with a top 4 finish during his first year as a transition period. At Bayern he would be sacked immediatly.
      3. Xabi still knows the Premier League from his playing days. So I don't think that would be an issue. Also, Liverpool created a great work environment with the new training ground over the years.

It is on FSG that we don't have a sporting director. They need to hurry up and get that in order. They have known that we needed a permanent solution for over a year and they still haven't solved it. It's scandalous within itself that both Sporting Director and manager has been allowed to be open positions at the same time. That should never have been allowed to happen.
Hansi Flick could be an option for a short term solution on manager. He can still work short term before we can get the perfect candidate. It would of course be better if we didn't have to wait for the perfect candidate.

You want to take a year off. We can arrange that. Your management team can run the club for a season. Then when you're ready you can take the reigns again.

Couldn't have put it better 👏👏👏👏👏👏Give Lijnders/Matos the job for a season, if it works we keep them, if it doesn't then get Jurgen back. The more time passes the more I don't want Alonso. From the start I have felt he is the wrong fit, he has no personality, he has little experience, he hasn't got the sports science background Klopp has, it isn't just about picking 11 players there's the analysis, the diets, the technology Klopp introduced like those neuro specialists he brought in. Plus he's only about 10 years older than the likes of Van Dijk and Mo, would they take a rollicking off him? Especially if he lacks experience. Add the fact we're set to lose all the coaches, it's a car crash waiting to happen for me. I am already dreading going to games next season with such an uninspiring manager possibly at the helm. Anfield will be flat enough with Klopp gone, and unless we hit the ground running I dread to think how bad it could get. I never thought FSG would go down the MU route and go for the Hollywood signing, they need to think this through.

Best case scenario he wins 1 CL in 3 years, and even that is extremely optimistic, provided he is allowed enough freedom to manage his players and they use his tactics. Biggest draw for Bayern is that there are only two bigger clubs in Europe than it: Real and City. If you all remember during Kane’s transfer saga, Sky News had to grudgingly admit that Bayern is one of the big boys and bigger than every Premier League club outside of City. The downside is that winning the Bundesliga is a must and getting to the semis is a fair requirement since a manager doesn’t worry about a bigger club poaching players.

From a football only point of view, obviously managing Liverpool is more exciting and challenging. The Bundesliga is a poor league compared.
If Klopp leaves winning the four trophies this year, who would want to try and follow that?

As liverpool fans we will have to back him, when I say back him that means if he goes a goal down and there's a low block from the opposition and we miss a sitter, don't moan we need to applaud and encourage take what we got from klopp and give it to the next manager (if we get him 🤞)

xabi loves an underdog story tho and thats what attracted him to leverkusen. maybe he stays but no way bayern is attractive at this point in his career. same with real. liverpool would be a real challenge, and to be competing against the likes of pep and arteta, would make him excited for sure. I bet 6 year old xabi dreamt of an opportunity like this.

Xabi has two choices at least, one LFC or FCBM, maybe at a push Barca or stay put. He is at a club that has never won the Bundesliga and doesn’t have the economic might to really complete in the CL, so for me staying put is done. Barca are a basket case and he used to play for Real, so they are done too.
lFC has currently the best manager in the world, they have a comparatively young squad with some great players, but have a few key players who are aging. They are losing all their key back room staff and have no director of football, so no idea on future strategy. They also have owners that are renowned for being mean with money and regularly seemingly promising the manager money for key players only to pull out. They are also in the most competitive league in the world and are never guaranteed CL football. They win the PL once every 30 years but that may change this year. They do have great fans that nearly always back their manager to the end bat Hodgson, who didn’t deserve any backing.
FCBM seemingly have a more money to spend, in a league that takes a special kind of manger to not win, so are guaranteed CL football and normally go deep into it. They do have a great mix of old and young players, but perhaps have a problem with overly entitled older player who need to go and maybe some younger ones who have learnt bad habits. They do have a very good sporting director Christoph Freund who could lead them into the future. They have a ground that is world class and has a capacity of 71,000.
For me the easy choice is FCBM unless he wants to be really challenged and feels he could build something better than the current team. For that it is down to the owners again, will they give him enough to say I can build an even better squad and be backed by the best analytics, medical team and be at LFC for the next 10 years
I desperately want him at Liverpool, but if I were in his shoes I would go with Bayern

Personally, as a manager, why would he choose Munich?
It would honestly be a boring move and not a learning curve for him, which seems to be the way he looks at his career.
If you choose Munich, you go there to put them back on top and then win the league every season. Boring 😴
In doing that, you'd also make the Leverkusen fans hate you for that move.
If you choose Liverpool, you have a massive learning curve, get to test yourself in the most difficult league in the world, go up against the best managers in the world and come to.a club that will love you and help you through the tough times.
I hope he comes to LFC, because I honestly can't get too excited about the other names on the list at the moment, none scream LFC Manager

My heart says absolutely yes but my head says no. Xabi is doing a fantastic job at Leverkusen and deserves a few years at least developing his project there. Adored him as a player and I would hate to see him thrown through the same mulching machine as so many PL managers.
ETH, Tuchel, Graham Potter, Pottechino…just some of the managers who in 18 months went from respected professionals to almost laughing stocks. Unai Emery was laughed out of the league and had to rebuild his credit before even daring to show his face again. I don’t want that happening with Xabi.
No one will ever be able to match Klopp, but I don’t want a former reds legend to have his managerial career ruined before it even begins.

All this nonsense about “we have to have a charismatic manager”
We’ve just had a manager for the past 8 years who firstly was a brilliant manager! Secondly. Was a brilliant coach! Thirdly was a unbelievable tactician! And the big bonus was he was incredibly charismatic man!
But charisma is the last quality that I’m looking for in our next manager, I am old enough to remember a certain un charismatic manager in our history by the name of Bob paisley😄 who was our greatest EVER manager and in my opinion will never be surpassed!? So let’s just understand that by demanding the next manager has to be close to a jurgen 2.0 is only going to narrow our options

And he will know that if he starts well at Liverpool he will get left alone. Whereas at Bayern he will be explaining himself to the Board EVERY week. But he is Spanish and the lure of Madrid with Bellingham, Mbappe and Haarland (of course he is going there in 1 or 2 years time!) and ruling the world for 10 years. He's going to Madrid!

The option that has me most worried is Ream madrid contacting him and Alonso saying he wants another year at Leverkusen, hence Madrid extending Ancelotti's deal by a year. IMHO Madrid are the only real comertition for Alonso and it's a bit worrying that it's gone quiet regarding them (almost a 'Ancelotti has another year on his deal so they won't be in for Alonso'). But that said i think Real madrid is the end game!! if he does end up at Liverpool i can see a world where he leaves for Madrid at some point hofully a long way down the road.
