Nice demo. I noticed when the chicken cooked how much whiter the bottom of it was. Was wondering since the basket is so close to the inner pot if it is restricting the air from a good circulation.
In all fairness, I think any recipe that doesn't tell you to drain the water after the pressure cooking is probably useless. In this test, I did drain the water so it would not be interfering with the air fryer. We did another test using the left over (non pressure cooked fries). Ninja vs our Homeleader air fryer doing an air fryer only challenge of these sweet potato fries. Kinda interesting. Hoping to have it up tomorrow. Thanks. glad you enjoyed it.
This show is about educating the public. I didn't know if anyone knew of the multiple uses for mineral oil. It does a nice job cleaning metal too. That pesky potato wasted a lot of time. LOL!!!
Go Amy Go Amy go Amy lol. Eric I love it when you & Amy are together in a manner of speech. Yous 2 are a comedic act. Please make a video together some time. It'd be hysterical seeing the 2 of you together, noising one another up lol. Great video Eric & Amy's voice lol
Thank you. Yeah, my director was getting a little hungry back there, so she got a shot of tequila to entertain herself. Too funny. Hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day as well.
@@EricLearnstoCook I don't blame you! in all seriousness about sweet potatoes. kudos for trying. talk about a vegetable that's built not to be fried! dense, woody, wet and full of sugar..
@@BretFrohwein Thank you. I know air fryers do a decent job on store bought frozen fries. I thought I could just fresh cut them and air fry. Appears to be a big mistake. But we thought this might be a "Ninja problem" so we put it up against our Homeleader air fryer. Mano a mano. Kinda interesting. Hope to have that up tomorrow.
Wow, I like your video but as hard as I'm trying to like this air fryer I just can't. It's huge and has a tiny cooking area. I think I'll just use my convection oven...which is the original air fryer with less clean up and larger capacity 😊
Why not just air fry these without pressure cooking them first? By the time you wait for the pressure to build and then cook, you could've been air frying them and not have to stop, release pressure, dump the water and dry them off before air frying. It seems like a lot of work for a small amount of fries. They are cut small enough that they should cook through fairly quickly without that first step.
Thanks Jane. This was part of a test. There are some recipes out there that complain about cooking fries where the inside is not cooked and the outside is overcooked. Some people do the 'two step' frying method where you fry at two different temps to accomplish this (we did a video on that several years ago). Some people do the pressure cooking to do this. Some people imply that the baking or air frying takes a lot longer if you don't do this first. Also, there's the whole argument of whether you should soak your fries in water (or salt water) (in order to drive the starch out of the fries so you get crispier surface). So the pressure cooking (and using salt water and baking soda) is supposed to do the same and shave all that time off. In my testing, it has negligent effect. Proof is by doing it. As you said, you should be able to just air fry it and be done in a fraction of the time. Like I said, if you have steak fries, then there "might" be some benefit of doing the pressure cooking. My fries are about 1/2" diameter and should cook up fast. See my next video. Ninja Foodi vs our Homeleader Air Fryer to see if there is any difference between the two and/or does straight air frying these produce decent fries...
Yeah that is pretty much widely known but for some reason we still call them yams. We grew up calling them yams and it just stuck. Thanks for watching!
Hi Amy&Eric!!! I enjoyed that video so much. Im still debating about getting one. I dooubt I could cut the fries like that tho. I have no strength. Eric you remind me of my dear husband ♡. Same built same hair doo and he had beautiful blue eyes too. Im not trying to flirt at all. Just saying. I like you both so...much!!! A fan and friend. DiDi
DiDi, these are sweet potatoes, so very tough to cut. Regular potatoes are much softer. See my video that we'll likely post tomorrow. Once again, I'm not using russets which might crisp a bit better. Air fryers are great for heating up food like frozen fries and spring rolls. Those are already pre-fried and just need to be heated up. It's when cooking raw food that they may not crisp as well. But then, you aren't using an air fryer to compete with deep fat frying (since you are looking to eat more healthy, right?). A convection oven works better in most cases, but these can cook faster. It just depends on WHICH air fryer you get. Thank you for the compliment.
if you put the sweet potatoes in the micro for one minute it will go thru the french fry cutter WAS easier. :) I make mine like that and it's so much easier.
This ninja foodi just seems so clunky. An open lid in the way when I pressure cook isnt something I would like. And no fry basket or handle, just holding a pot? I'll pass. Ninja is supposed to be better than this
I don't want to say the Ninja Foodi is a piece of garbage, but...... It can pressure cook and it can air fry, but how good does it do it? I'm thinking some of its fans might not have used a pressure cooker or air fryer before, so they have no frame of reference. So for that reason, I did a test using some of these extra cut fries. Should have it up soon.
Instead of using a petroleum lubricant for the cutter why not use olive/cooking oil? I personally don't want to eat anything petroleum based... No matter what, it's still million year old dead dinosaurs lol.

Loving this! At the cutting point you could save the odd ducks to freeze for your veggie soup!! Just a small Ziploc full.
Good idea. I never thought of that. Glad you enjoyed.
I don’t think tequila has nutritional value 😂😂 love it

What is the name of cutter used
Maybe you could try the Foodi rack insert. Perhaps they would air fry better. Who knows? Just a thought.
Thanks. They provided this 'air fryer' basket, so that's what I used.

You need the original Philips airfryer the get the best results. It really does make a big difference.
That or just use the oven behind me. LOL. I actually did a test between another air fryer and the Ninja. Should be posting that tomorrow.

I dont think you are supposed to cut sweet potatoes with these cutters. I have a comercial model and even that is not made to cut SPs.
Ps, Yams & sweet potatoes are not the same.

We don't have a Philips :-( but it air fries frozen spring rolls twice as fast as this Ninja did. LOL!
