Great reaction. This university once won in one of the World University Choir competitions. It is a University located in the Western Cape province on the outskirts of Cape town. A bit of history about this verse. This rendition has a sensational twist to the 1st Chorus of SA's national anthem sung in both Xhosa and Zulu languages, which directly translates to "Lord bless Africa May her glory be lifted high Hear our petitions Lord bless us with strength to conquer this evil." It's a powerful prayer written by Enoch Sontonga, a Xhosa clergyman In one of the missionary schools in the year 1 897 which became a struggle song for the pan liberation movements during Apartheid that inspired the fight and resistance of oppression which led to the democracy of this country. Nelson Mandela incorporated this verse in the national anthem of the new South Africa in 1994.
First Off, What’s Up Man it’s Me and I hope your day is great and keep up the great content. However, totally off topic, You gotta do the other parts to Blasting Inappropriate Songs In The Library. The total parts are a series of 14 parts(Videos) There super hilarious and Shout Out To Chicago What’s Big Dawg? Yessirski!
You see this somg is not only what we sing as am Anthem but the second stanza, the one youvsaid it made you feel something. Thats pain this is what the 2nd stanza say in English; Even when it is so hard on this earth, Being viollated by Boers "Whites" ( this part they changed to painfully) God give us power to conquer and fight the devil (Whites/Boers) How would you feel when such a deep song with painful memories is being romatised and son by unrepentant, racist???
Our National Anthem is a prayer 🙏🏽
Wow. So profound. I know this but forgot this if you know what I mean. Forgot the power behind it. We are truly blessed as South Africans. 🌈🇿🇦
Thanks for reminding me that it is not just a song but a prayer.
