Not trying to sound negative or what, but most Americans when they're lead singing the National Anthem they turn it into a performance/show with all those high notes etc. As a result, there's no coordination with the crowd. There's no need for high notes and spicing it up...you're defeating the purpose by doing so. The National Anthem hits deep on its raw form.
The American anthem is a song that was turned into an anthem, whilst our anthem is a prayer.
I feel like someone needs to explain this to them before they even learn the anthem.

Hey I'm South African. Just to let you know the National anthem contains 5 languages in it
Red colour - Our people's blood that was spilled during Apartheid.
Blue colour - Our oceans from East to West, the natural beauty of our oceans.
Black colour - The colour of our indigenous black people.
White colour - The colour that represents our goal during the struggle, Peace in our Land.
Gold /Yellow - The colour of our rich mineral resources. Especially our abundant Gold.
Green - THe beauty of our natural landscapes, The trees and our fertile agricultural land.
The 'Y' symbol in the flag - Diverse people unite. We were separated racially and now we are One NAtion.
That's the beauty of our South African flag. 🥳

So here's another interesting observation on how the anthem has been arranged in terms of it's languages, firstly, the Xhosa, Sotho and Zulu verses speak of our relation to and dependence on God, the one who created everything and on who's foundations our nation stands, its a petition to Him to bless and protect the nation, that's first and foremost, secondly the Afrikaans part then flows from that and shifts the focus to our relationship to the land that He (God) gave us, it speaks of our majestic mountains and etc, and lastly the English part ties it all together, it highlights our relation to each other in all our diversity as a united people making up the nation of South Afrika. Quite idealistic and inspiring..That being said, we appreciate the dope reaction🔥 a shout out to yall from South Afrika!

I lived overseas for a long time, when you hear this, you want to die. Come rugby time we’re all amabokke, at least with an enormously expensive bokke t-shirt, no matter in SA 3/4 of the people gathering together for three nations, etc. we’re not rugby fans at home.

You have to remember that they have to pause the video for copyright purposes, it sucks in terms of enjoyment but thats the T&C's that TH-cam has in place for TH-camrs.

I am Not South African, but I lived next door to the country for 38 years.. Now I cannot help but feel emotional when I hear "N'Kosi Sikilele Africa" especially when sung by the "Boks" prior to a match..! I think it is especially significant given the countries deeply divided history that, the THREE Main languages spoken in the country are included, opening with the indigenous verses before switching to Afrikaans and finally the crescendo in English...! Seeing "Springbok" Captain Siya Kolisi sing the words "Freedom" with such passion, really epitomises the whole South African ethos and is why the "Boks" are such a force to be reckoned with on the worlds' sporting stage..!!

Our national anthem is actually a prayer. During aparhied we had four national Athems and in four different languages. Then they combined the four Athems into one at the end of Apartheid.

Our anthem is a straight-up prayer bru. You will be amazed at how often these huge rugby players break out in tears before an international game, especially on debut.
Also with rugby, unlike most other sports, the International fixtures are more important than the domestic stuff on the rugby calendar. There is massive tradition involved when we play against countries like England, New Zealand, and Australia. Some seriously ancient rivalries there.
With soccer, for example, international fixtures are only important in a World Cup or Continental Championship year, and South Africa doesn't make a habit of qualifying for World Cups or Continental Competitions in soccer. So, as a nation rugby is where it is at for us., being three-time World Champions and all.
In rugby, there is a series of July Internationals, the Rugby Championship (South Africa, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia), Six Nations (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy), and November Internationals. These contests happen every year and carry a little more weight than the domestic competition. Big moments in our sport.

When she started singing I was so confused about how old this clip was because Zim and SA used to share the same anthem until both countries changed them. Till I realized that SA basically just expanded the old anthem to include other languages. My fave is the seSotho verse because my family is Sotho and I wish our anthem had a Sotho verse

I was part of the African expat society in London and it was the same, something bad hitting the news and it’s an expat was involved, first thing everybody say I hope it wasn’t someone from Africa and then everyone’s individual country.
