    The struggle is real bro, I'm working on a 2000 R6 cafe transform and at a stand still because I can't decide what direction I want to take it. Leave the existing frame for the seat and "modify it" or build my own. Leaning towards building my own, but that puts a fork in the road for which seat to go with. I want the Cafe hump seat but finding one off the shelf is proving difficult, might just have to make my own seat pan and cover and lay down some fibre. Thanks for the vid, cheers on the victory on the restart, I needed this.

    I miss my 2 strokes ! After a minibike, a Yamaha 60, then building a H-D flathead chopper in high school back in '69-'70 (and being a hang-a-round with the Hells Angels in Phoenix), I learned that street riding was too dangerous. Then, I got into dirt bikes where everyone goes the same direction. The Husky dealer provided me a 360 8 speed for desert racing (against Maicos, CZs, AJSs, Suzukis, Bultacos, Montessas and Yamahas). College then became the priority, then the U.S. Air Force. Now decades later, and retired, I currently ride an Indian Scout on the scenic back roads of Montana. In looking to build a small collection of bikes brought me to your TH-cam channel for the cafè builds. Now you went and got me all jazzed for the smell of Castrol oil and the ring-ding of an expansion chamber all over again ! I suppose an ADV bike can wait for later. Keep shooting your informative and personable videos, we sure do enjoy them. Stay well !

      It is that smell and pinging that brings a feeling like no other. best to get a 2 stroke again :)

      @@forthebold Many riders, having started on the dirt, eventually find their way back to it. A sort of circle-of-life per se, within our community.
      P.S. The past few decades I worked in Film and Television productions all over Montana. From PA to Location Scout to Grip to Producer. That'll be handy when shooting for TH-cam.

    Kinda falling in love for this channel, I've come across your channel because I restoring a broken fairing on my YZF600R Thundercat, and well here I am! Keep up the awesome work.
    I would love to have a chat to clear some doubts about fibreglass since I've been DIY a lot on it.
    Yeah,.. Those 2 strokes man, wish I could have one as well.. but here in Portugal I guess people put some sort of gold on them.. since every bike is soooo damn expensive lol.
    But for the meantime no more bikes, need to fix my main bike so I can ride it!

    The trick on how not to have an ankle problem starting these bikes is getting your feet back up as fast as you can right after you kick start it.

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only superman can get his foot back up faster than a kick back from this bike. Especially a Maico.

      @@forthebold I mean, just don't force it or fight the what we call "kickback" , something like that. Can't actually explain it😅

      I can’t see it happening. I see this going on until end of September and no public gatherings at least until Xmas . Because of everything also I doubt This’ll be ready in time. Backlog of parts and it’ll be a few weeks for the powder fosters to catch up before they get to mine. But enjoy your build.

    Nice. How much does powder coating cost roughly? I’ve got a CD200 Benly in bits... carb cleaning kit just arrived funnily enough!

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Around £170 for a bunch of parts. All depends who you find.

    I’m not a fan of powder coating, soon as it chips water tracks underneath it. I’d go etch primer and pain personally.

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunately it’s what it had last but that didn’t let the repeated scaling of my boots next to the frame ☹️it does sound also like you’ve had bad experience for bad powdercoating. What I’ve had from my supplier is properly bonded pro the frame.. had a few chips and scrapes in the last but no chance of water getting anywhere underneath

      For The Bold I used to work on a powder coating plant, it never really impressed me to be honest, I’d say it was ok for interior furniture but that about it. Just my opinion, I’m sure many would disagree lol.

      There are legal versions of the Maico, I might be wrong with my names but I think the GS version is the Enduro version of the Maico. But they do exist
