I swear you blow my mind every time you make on of these videos when you read 175 books in a month!!!😂 I’m over here like hey look at me I finished 2 books 😂
Heeeck yes for Rooker Flynn, can't wait for you to read the sequels!! And lol can't say I am surprised with how the Lightbringer journey went 🤣 You're getting me eager to try out some Joe Hill here though!
«The Martyr» looks very interesting! In September I read three Rosemary Sutcliffe novels: 2 YA Historical Fiction Novels, «The Silver Branch» & «The Lantern Bearers» (set in Ancient Britain during the Late Roman and the Roman Withdrawal & Saxon Invasions, respectively) and an Arthurian Historical Fiction novel, «Sword at Sunset», all loosely connectied to each other following a family over generations, with the POV character of «The Lantern Bearers» as a mentor figure and his son one of Arthur’s companions in «Sword at Sunset». I also finished «Sword in the Storm» («Rigante» series #1) by David Gemmell (S&S/Heroic Fantasy, inspired by Celtic Britain and the Roman Invasions) and «The Eternal Champion» by Michael Moorcock (Multiverse S&S/(Anti-?)Heroic Fantasy). Just finished «Lustrum» (US: «Conspirata», «Cicero»-Trilogy #2) by Robert Harris (Historical Fiction about the Roman Statesman), that one or «Sword in the Storm» might be my Book of the Month! Cheers!😄
I love Hedge Wizard (all three books I've read have been 5-star books for me) and have Book 4 on my "to be read real soon now...really" list. I also love Arcane Ascension, though I thought Book 4 was a bit weaker. I still plan to buy "When Wizards Follow Fools" as soon as the audio is available in March. I've mentioned here before that Deathstalker _really_ didn't work for me. It was my only 1-star read for September, and it was an easy 1-star for me. Glad you liked it, though. September was a weak month for me as well, with only 23 books and an average rating of 2.96. A large part of the low average rating for the month was the CivCEO series, by Andrew Karevik. I read several books from that series while on a cruise (so I wasn't really looking for anything compelling). In spite of a rather intriguing premise, it failed pretty miserably on character and quality of writing. Unless you find the idea (LitRPG run like a game of Civilization) fascinating, I'd avoid that one. But at least it was free on Audible+, so there's that. The only 5-star book was Marc Cameron's "The Stone Cross", a thriller/mystery set in Alaska that was excellent. Excellent characters, very strong investigative details, strong sense of place, and solid plot. (The entire series is quite good.)
12 books is beast-like Wizardly. I am still shooting for two. I am going with the I am a writer excuse for the little time I appropriate to reading. But I do agree that a writer should read a fair amount to get to be the best they can be. A Canticle for Leibowitz is next for me this month. Maybe another one.
Great month! Since I started following your channel I don't think I've ever seen a month like this where you didn't DNF anything. Unless the hormone energy was too much for you to finish The Black Prism? 😂
Good month for me reading, despite reading the worst book I finished this year: Jinx High by Mercedes Lackey. I love Lackey and kept hoping that she was going to redeem the story, but it kept getting worse. For days afterward, I was angry at some of the sentiments expressed in it. I also ready the best book of the year (so far): Slewfoot by Brom. I couldn't stop reading it. It wasn't my only five-star book either. I read My Side of the Mountain by Jean George, the classic boy's adventure from the fifties. It was absolutely amazing. Just missing five stars was Raising Abel by Michael and Kathleen Gear. I'm a huge fan of their historical fiction and historical fantasy. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this sci-fi thriller in a used bookstore. I had no idea they wrote anything like this. Also read Island of Doctor Moreau for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not my favorite HG Wells but I still enjoyed it.
@@AndrewsWizardlyReads I just finished Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge (with Covid, can't do much but read and right.) It is another A+ modern horror. While I am a huge horror fan, I have a difficult time with a lot of current horror writers like Tremblay, Hendrix, Kingfisher. These two books restored my faith in modern horror.
You should continue to embrace your “hyper fixation, ADD parts of your personality when creating your videos. So much positive energy mixed with a presentation ability that is intelligent and haphazard enough that I feel like I’m an acquaintance or friend and you’ve pulled me aside and exclaimed, “Dude you’ve got to check out this book!” And while I know you’re mostly about modern fantasy, adding that energy within a mix of genres gives your channel even more of a unique feeling.
Your welcome about Matheson his son was not a bad writer either some good collections out there by Richard Christian Matheson. Far as horror collections go don't forget Charles Beaumont!
