I’ll be honest I have watched every single top top videos and they have helped me every single time before my mocks so these videos are sooooo helpful and I can agree the level of accuracy is incredible so Ty James 🐐🐐
Just to let you know, based on 2022 paper 2's mark scheme, a test for phenol needs an indicator to show acidity and a carbonate (that doesn't produce effervescence) OR FeCl3 and a purple colour
15:17 when you neutralise the acid with sodium carbonate, will it not START bubbling (and not stop bubbling) when it’s all gone because: e.g. 2HCl + Na2CO3 -> 2NaCl + H2O + CO2 (no more acid present because the reaction has gone to completion resulting in CO2 bubbling)
I would think that whilst the reaction is ongoing and CO2 is being produced, it will be bubbling. When all the acid is gone, reaction will stop so the CO2 won’t be bubbling anymore (it’s no longer being produced so it will have left the separating funnel into the air?)
40 mins from James is better than 4 days worth of work Tysm for taking time out of your busy schedule to make this wonderful video ❤❤

for phenols we always went with testing with br2 bearing decolourised bromine water and a white precipate with antiseptic smell
That’s correct too
