a couple non-spoiler things to know about this series:
1. You may hear some dub vs sub debate however, they are about the same and for a first watch the dub is much better for understanding all the information.
2. The show is heavy on exposition but most of the information is said at least 2 times.
3. You may eventually want to have a notepad or note app to keep track of things unless you have a good memory.
4. Don't feel bad for pausing or going back to re-watch a scene in your reactions, this is natural for this series and everyone did it on their first watch.

Naruto and Death Note are two completely different anime. Both anime are popular and very good. But Naruto is an anime focused on fighting and clashing ideologies through combat. Death Note is a detective and psychological thriller. So Death Note is much more focused on mind games.

Haha! Don’t worry. I don’t like to compare our worlds and many of the things happening in the show are just examples that sadly happen in real world but aren’t as usual as it looks. I like to try to think from his point of view and he just amuses me so much because how detailed he is.
A masterpiece work nonetheless. It is said that the story questioned the creators themselves and their sanity. I read somewhere (probably was about the drawer) that he felt disturbed. I mean hell. I watched the whole show 2 days straight and I had soo many questions and had very hard time to sleep coz how exciting it was at the moment.
The craziest thing is that the actual writer is very very much unknown. Name has been given and he is still active manga writer but like for real no appereances not even known gender lol. Weird because how popular the show is.
But I ultimately respect his decision trying to stay away from the media
Edit: oh. the writer seems to even use a fake name (Tsugumi Ohba).
This is honestly one of the best psychological animes of all time in my opinion

When I started to watch Death Note so many years ago, I had the exact same reaction. I was amazed and hooked on it immediately.

18:37 something they don't have shown on the subtitles is he wrote down the guy's name multiple times, misspelling it to test it further.
I thought it was because he just heard the name (and probably one of those names you can write with different spelling) so he wrote it in all the ways he might think of.
But yeah, very interesting detail
@@danielduarte6802 The explanations i heard were saying he did it on purpose. But it's also possible it was to get the right name. I think there is a scene somewhere that might go into further detail about it but i don't remember. Most of the rules are explained throughout the series. But some only show up in the title cards and don't play much role in the series. so it's easy to gloss over.
@@Kepothethief No, he wrote so many names, precisely because he didn't know the correct spelling of the name. He didn't know if the notebook was working yet, so there's no point in checking what you're describing.
I think it has to do with japanese kanji, one name can be spelled different ways

Fact is that out of the 9 thousand animes out there (its around that amount) i’d say 8 thousand are set in real life or in some setting resembling real life ( i daresay) Animes like naruto and dragonball that are set in fantastic or mystical/supernatural worlds are actually a minority. the whole visual and the soundtrack is perfect, its very thematic :) Shinigami realm looks like a place where you would die of boredom xD no wonder Ryuk did what he did :P you remember Shinigami from Naruto? when Hiruzen sealed Orochimaru's arms? Shinigami is a big thing in Japan, its their Grim Reaper :) was really cool how they showed Light and Ryuk next to each other kinda thinking the same thing, good imagery, thats one of the big strengths of this series, the visuals and the imagery is on point :) imagine finding that IRL :D a really dope concept :D oh ye this is dark and serious :) the morals here man, it really makes you think whats good or bad, righteous or evil, whats justice, its really cool :) Light is 17 right now :) you can see that Light is very intelligent and very rational, rather than emotional, he is more cold, :) and bored as he said :P also love how they are showing you the rules during intermissions :) Light is loving this :D loved his first interaction with Ryuk, how he took him by surprise, he felt happy to see him, he is excited, he is an interesting fella :D Ryuk is great I love him, many people have him as their favorite :D he is cool and entertaining and gives zero fucks :D like all the designs of the Shinigami too :) the only anime where writing in a notebook is epic xD Light is willing to sacrifice his own soul to make the world better, now noble :P you are right they are perfect for each other, or at least Ryuk is happy he got Light to entertain him xD like that little random detail about Shinigami loving apples :) great start to the series :)

This is gonna be a amazing journey 😍 This is my second favourite anime after naruto and just one simple advice - Understand and watch every episode carefully because you dont want to miss any detail or any character. Otherwise there can be lot of doubts and confusion.

It's funny how pretty much every reactor I've seen on this anime who says "killing is killing it's wrong" are not truly 100% sold on that, it just takes the necessary trigger for them to say: "ok, kill that one", and the trigger is almost always rape.

Nothing in this show is meaningless, everything has some significance, something a character does in one episode could have effect 20 episodes later
Being that you are not going to react to Death Note daily, I suggest that after every episode, you should write down notes. Trust me, this anime gets complicated and you don't want to miss any key details.
