I think Oda is going with the Prince & The Pauper fable for this arc. Road is actually the real Prince Loki. He wanted to go on high seas adventures but his royal duties would not allow it so he found a look a like in Road and they switched places. Maybe the impersonator Road will claim the throne and turn out to be an overarching villain
Luffy using Gear Fourth without transforming was unexpected but super cool, it reminded me of when he casually used Gear Second against the Pacifistas in Sabaody
I feel like Oda might be using Road to poke a bit of fun at himself. He's a dramatic storyteller, likes building with Lego, seems to like the samurai and Wano culture, and is a major horndog for Nami. Road even shares all the letters of Oda's names. My bet is that Road will become an ally.

More about the -taso suffix: most people who read manga/watch anime will be familiar with the -chan suffix, used to impart a sense of familiarity, cuteness, and femininity in reference to another person. If you want to make it even cutesier you turn it into -tan, written タン. タン (Tan) looks very similar to タソ (Taso), so some use misspelled -taso as the suffix on purpose (similar to how "own" became "pwn" in now bygone English internet lingo). If you are familiar with Hololive VTubers, this is why fans of Amane Kanata often refer to her as Kanataso.
It's pretty much confirmed that the inhabitants of this tiny fake Elbaf were just going along with the game for their own safety, eager to get out at a moments notice
Hajrudin, Goldberg, and Gerd have known each other since childhood (and were the giants that recovered Ohara's books) Stansen was imprisioned at the Human Auction House on Sabaody, and escaped in the Straw Hat's assault on the auction house Road is really the only one of the five New Giant Warrior Pirates we've not seen anything about, so it's interesting to get more info on him right away on Elbaf
After learning the reason behind Road's deeds, I am having a feeling that Elbaf could have some Fishman Island references instead of just some Amazon Lily ones as I previously thought. And if Road and other giants are Elbaf's Arlong/Hordy, then it won't be too surprising for Hajrudin to be the Jinbe of this situation.
Rodo is probably a big fan of history and the Story of the Sun God from the fables of Elbaf. He recreated a prison setting and oppressed others which since Evil existed, fate created heroes to take it down. He probably didn't accept Luffy as sun god after Hajrudin approved. And now fate has brought the crew into his "rpg" which is making Rodo excited to see results.

Here’s an idea, modern Elbaf has a very power centric culture. It could be that as innately powerful giants who have a warrior culture and isolationist policies, they’ve developed a very “power scaling”-esk disposition, tying the innate value of any being to how strong they are, hence Rode’s/Road’s disdain/dismissal of humans and his willingness to use them to fulfill his own whims (a sort of “might makes right” type of deal). This would allow the story to still explore themes of bigotry and discrimination while preventing it from feeling too similar to fish man island. Would also tie in really nicely with Usopp, as his physical weakness could be used to create some great narrative tension between him and the newer generation of giants with this mentality about what makes a great warrior.

I think the reason that the diorama mini arc seems so underwhelming now is because of all the errors in chapter 1127. We all assumed that the errors were all intentional because one piece has such a small amount of errors in it especially considering how many there were in just that one chapter,so we all started to make insane theories about what could be happening,so when we actually found out what was really going on it seemed very anticlimactic, but if you look at it at face value putting aside all the theories it's actually really cool!!!
I think it's too soon to say that all of those things were errors. We see Road spray the Strawhats with some type of gas this chapter and in chapter 1127 when the cat is suddenly a lion we do see lots of gas around it. I think Oda tried to portray a sort of woozy vibe with Nami as the main focus. It would mean that the last panel of chapter 1127 is when Nami is completly sober.
@@NeonRoger My intention was not to trash talk GrandLineReview but to hype up Tekking. 99% of people don't predict stuff like. That's why its so cool when someone does.
Based on the general atmosphere and silly premise of these last few chapters I wouldn't be surprised if when this mini-arc is animated it'll be very explicitly presented as a comedic series of gags. Not the lore-rich twilight zone twist-fest everyone was expecting EDIT: You actually said the same thing at the end. Nice
Thought: Nami successfully shocking tf out of fake sun god is a foreshadowing for Enel popping back in during Elbaf and shocking Luffy but being unsuccessful, helping to prove Luffy’s legitimacy as the real sun god
Is it weird that I hope Iscat sticks around for most, if not all of the arc? I'd love to see Usopp fight him in a rematch and genuinely earn his respect.
I don’t get why people keep thinking gears are obsolete. I’ve seen people call all of gears 2 through 4 potentially obsolete since Gear 5 happened. Luffy will continue to use all of them on a whim.
@@young_raymond47 counterpoint, obsolete does not mean not used. as far as we know, all gear 4 variants still have their drawbacks. it's just if luffy can use just part of a gear 4, those drawbacks are gonna be a lot less. for extended use, gear 2 and 3 are still useful. for power, they are left in the dust.
@@ninjaman0003 What you described wouldn’t be obselete though. If there is a scenario where it is distinctly advantageous to use Gear 2 over gear 4 of any variety, then it clearly isn’t obsolete. I think the idea that Snakeman makes Gear 2 redundant is inaccurate. Even a partial transformation into Snakeman would be less haki efficient than, for example, a red hawk. The gear number roughly translates to how taxing the technique is on Luffy’s body. I came to this realisation during Thriller Bark. When Zoro took Luffy’s pain, what I found most interesting is that Luffy barely takes any damage from enemies across the arc. It was only really Ursos Shock. So most of the pain bubble that Kuma extracted was just recoil damage from his gear 2 and 3 attacks. Similarly, Gear 4 was him pushing his body to it’s absolute limit at the time, and then we’ve seen how draining G5 is. On this fact alone, none of his gears will ever be redundant because there will be opponents who he’ll be able to beat with G2, in which case he should do so to minimise recoil. All of this is besides my point though, funnily enough. I am aware that Luffy doesn’t necessarily look to optimise for haki consumption and recoil when he fights (we just saw him use G5 to punch a snake). Luffy largely just acts on his whims. When he has a specific target in mind he does try to conserve his energy, but generally he just goes with whatever he feels like (because he’s FREE to do so). But that’s where my real point is made. Even if G2 was actually obsolete (and I explained why I don’t think it is) Luffy would still use it regardless on a whim.
@@young_raymond47 as much as i hate words having multiple definitions, i'm using a biology definition of obsolete. (of a part or characteristic of an organism) less developed than formerly or in a related species. ironically enough, that would be appropriate definition to use canonically since the current lore says devil fruits of forms of evolution (i say current because vegapunk says it is his theory. so there is room for changes).
I think the giants no accounting for the sleeping mist could be explained by said mist never reaching high enough to affect the giants on their ships so they just forgot about it, but a normal human ship does get affected by it.
the part with Road referring to Nami as a could be queen, reminds me of what we heard about Loki. Could Loki be his alter ego around giants, and playing the Sun God with his captives?
There is as a short time in the chapter where I felt like Road was a mouthpiece for Oda himself, his excitement over the organically developed actions of the “characters” in “his world” reminds me of the way Oda feigns having no control over the actions of the characters in his story, which he is undoubtedly been uproariously excited over at least at a few points in his life.
With Nami and Luffy showing further growth, I believe every strawhats skills will displayed at their best this arc and give off real Yonko crew vibes. We’ve only been to Egghead since members gained Commander status.
That giant is giant indeed holy moly. I'm loving this saga so much, it's been nothing but bangers and rewards, the latest being a partial gear 4th confirmed, mega cool
8:35 idk Hajrudin was kinda cunty when he was first introduced in the corrida coliseum, not even close to the level of honour and respect from dory&brogy . Like, i distinctly rememember he giving strong giant supremacism vibes, he had no haki and wholeheartedly thought he would easily win against any non-giant , dude went on a whole megalomaniacal monologue about how getting the mera mera no mi and mixing the best genetics with the best class of devil fruit would make him the peak specimen . And more importantly , his whole goal was basically "make giants great again" just for the sake of reviving some idealized glory from the past he didn't even witness , which is very historically sus . Now at leat he has a reason to want the giants back on the board
13:50 - Well yes but actually no, there is still use for gear 3th, with gear 3th luffy limbs get much bigger then in 4th, so if he wants "more aoe" he can use gear 3th and gear 4th for "concentrated effect".
13:39 Based on my experience, given that "gears" are a reference to classic manual transmission-style cars, It's not entirely unforeseen for certain gears to not be used. Most Manual transmissions are usually 5 or 6-speed. Low gears (1 & 2) are usually made to gain speed and have high torque but have low output, Mid-range gears (3 & 4) are usually made for low-speed average movement, like driving on city streets, and High Gears (5 & 6), are usually for high-speed cruising. Depending on the transmission and your skill in driving manual, it's possible to just "skip" gears entirely, and in my case, when my father had a manual-transmission mustang, I'd see him jump from 2nd to 4th gears from time to time pretty easily. It's not _entirely_ recommended though, given that it _can_ put stress on the transmission if done incorrectly, but if you're good at it, you can pull it off.
The sleep mist area isn’t an area at all the people inside the diorama said that but if you look it was just Road with a syringe spraying the ship so this must be a name for the gas he uses that the people say like the gods are animals
1:30 I suscribe to the idea that Luffy's dream is to have the worlds biggest party (Idea I stole from some other internet person haha), BUT that he will achieve that with his funeral. So I agree with you internet man.
Luffy being able to use gear 4 with specific parts of his body and seemingly no effort makes me wonder how it'll be like if other Strawhats got similar power ups I.E: sanji using ifrit Jambe but instead of spinning he just walks up like garp does, or being able to turn invisible or see invisible things without the raid suit. Zoro having one arm behind his back but using Ashira 9 with only one sword like an Ashira 3 but only using one sword but still considered a 3 sword style could be major disrespect for other swordsmen. "Fight me using three sword style" *Zoro puts arm behind his back*
We all were thinking that Luffy saying gear 4th while not fully transformed was a mistake but it just shows us how much he's actually grown these past few arcs.
6:33 Roads „Bird friend“ is actually pretty much confirmation that odin exists in one piece cause this bird is a raven called mugin which is the combination of the names hugin and munin which are odins two spy ravens
For some reason, I really like Luffy trying to escape without damaging Road's legos. It kind of reminded me of when Luffy protected Chopper's flag because he knew it was important to him
"it's back to you" "me" I'd love if you would do the "me" part as the one, that does the current video, because you usually have different lightning and/or shirt you wear, would make the transition even better. just a small detail, but this would be waaaay better imo :)
The thought that Rodo is able to do this seemingly undisturbed, makes me wonder if the giants no longer have a need for that dungeon and makes wonder how long that has been the thing for the giants.
I ran a DND campaign based off of the start of elbaf and I literally had the villain be some guy who loves theater. Love have I got so close to predicting a one piece chapter.
Looking down on humanity by the giants could be something Loki has brought to the culture. Since the oldheads don't care too much. Goku can't retire a signature attack. One that his master used, his grandfather used, his sons can use, that cell can use, and one that his foil uses.
I feel like the minute Hajrudin finds out his crewmate was kidnapping people and essentially keeping them as slaves, Road is going to get one hell of an ass beating.
I thought the Gear 4 thing cleared up the previous confusion, but he still clearly used a gear 3 attack in that previous chapter. It was an elephant whip and his leg was clearly blown up as it would be with gear 3
I'm honestly hoping they just burst out in to a full size room in this building. Oda has done a good job the past few chapters delivering the scale to us a bit at a time. Imagine how big a living room or kitchen is on elbaff. They're clearly in a building so there's a chance that they're about to bust out to the outside but a bigger chance that they'll just be in an even bigger room. They had to ride a cat to get across that atrium, a full sized room will be massive and then the outside is gonna be insane
If I remember correctly, Shinobu had become thin to later restore her bulk before. Also: I think Gear 3rd will sill be a useful tool to gage enemy strength while conserving energy. Partial Gear 4th probably uses a good chunk of Haki.
I feel Dorry and Broggy will finally remember their reason for dueling during this arc and remembering how ineffective they were against the smaller Baroque Works Agents they'll agree the size of their Sea King Hunts will no longer matter (Not the size of the fighter but the size of the fight in the fighter) and they will end their battle over the past willingly in order to focus on the present and future.
I do wonder how will Rodo's story progress form here. - Was this the end of it? - Will he see that the Strawhats are worth being subordinate to? - Will he start chasing them, seeking retribution for his roo... temple? If he does the latter, will he see Strawhat's true strength again and again, until he's convinced of it? Will he be told off by the other giants? Will he serve as a minor antagonist until the end?

Oooooo so that’s why Buggy made himself appear massive with his cloak so the Giants would work under him
You weren’t expecting this huh? Guess your future sight isn’t on the level of Tekking.
No need to trash people because one person called it, GLR didn't seem into the miniaturization fruit like many other channels pushed.
@@NeonRoger My intention was not to trash talk GrandLineReview but to hype up Tekking. 99% of people don't predict stuff like. That's why its so cool when someone does.
Pretty impressive Nami beat a giant. I think she's finally catching up to the rest of the crew.
One thing that’s extremely underrated are your thumbnails. Definitely the best in the OP TH-cam community
8:16: They were showing more respect to Usopp than you are by saying that lol
Based on the general atmosphere and silly premise of these last few chapters I wouldn't be surprised if when this mini-arc is animated it'll be very explicitly presented as a comedic series of gags. Not the lore-rich twilight zone twist-fest everyone was expecting
EDIT: You actually said the same thing at the end. Nice
0:08 "Watch Out For The Quiet Ones." - Knock Out from Transformers Prime show
Props to Tekking 101 for predicting the false Sun God identity!
Thought: Nami successfully shocking tf out of fake sun god is a foreshadowing for Enel popping back in during Elbaf and shocking Luffy but being unsuccessful, helping to prove Luffy’s legitimacy as the real sun god
1:28 Liam is all in for Two Piece here I see
I loved the little Strawhat 2D images on the 3D Tile dnd map
Is it weird that I hope Iscat sticks around for most, if not all of the arc? I'd love to see Usopp fight him in a rematch and genuinely earn his respect.
this also retires 2nd gear too cause snake man exists. bounce man and snake man were pretty much upgraded versions of the prior gears.
2nd gear will always be useful. Also i think that its kind of applied in gear 4 and 5th.
7:14 you say green fairy and mist. I believe road doesn’t know they got crunk off the green so he just assumed it was a sleepy mist.
I think the giants no accounting for the sleeping mist could be explained by said mist never reaching high enough to affect the giants on their ships so they just forgot about it, but a normal human ship does get affected by it.
Also kinda cool that it was thunder that took down road, fake sun god and all.
the part with Road referring to Nami as a could be queen, reminds me of what we heard about Loki.
Luffy using gear 4 in base also gets rid of the error in chapter 1127 where we thought he was Using gear 3
It’s still an error, he was clearly using gear 3. The attack was called elephant whip, and the design is clearly a blown up leg.
Road has one hell of an imagination, and him saying taso was kinda wylin after everyone's name plus Nami stocks at an all-time high
I'm gonna call it...I think Shinobu can freely fatten/thin herself up in fighting forms similar to the rokushiki seimei kikan technique.
With Nami and Luffy showing further growth, I believe every strawhats skills will displayed at their best this arc and give off real Yonko crew vibes. We’ve only been to Egghead since members gained Commander status.
The captain and his navigator putting in that work you love to see it
I loved how the crew all was getting licks in and joking around with eachother. East blue crew feels like 900 chapters ago in a great way
Saul wouldn't like being lumped along with elbaf giants 😂
Going into the sponser during the Cover Story is beyond what I thought likely.
My guess is the original Nika or Joyboy was a giant and the giants cant imagine their god being human
I like how GLR shouted out Tekking for the correct call. Respect amongst the OP reviewers.
3:05 Shinobu's DF power is literally ageing things up. She simply used it on herself to return to her old form.
1:57Pan flag doggo man
The sleep mist area isn’t an area at all the people inside the diorama said that but if you look it was just Road with a syringe spraying the ship so this must be a name for the gas he uses that the people say like the gods are animals
1:30 I suscribe to the idea that Luffy's dream is to have the worlds biggest party (Idea I stole from some other internet person haha), BUT that he will achieve that with his funeral. So I agree with you internet man.
You should do a true bounty video again
10:56 mmmmm idk Luffy showed respect and didn't seem threated so I think he might swing back as an ally
Luffy being able to use gear 4 with specific parts of his body and seemingly no effort makes me wonder how it'll be like if other Strawhats got similar power ups
I.E: sanji using ifrit Jambe but instead of spinning he just walks up like garp does, or being able to turn invisible or see invisible things without the raid suit.
As time moves, the wind blows, children are born, crops are harvested and the wave of your hair grows bigger.
Love it.
6:33 Roads „Bird friend“ is actually pretty much confirmation that odin exists in one piece cause this bird is a raven called mugin which is the combination of the names hugin and munin which are odins two spy ravens
I absolutely loved the shout-out you gave Matt on his observation of Road being the fake sun-god.
For some reason, I really like Luffy trying to escape without damaging Road's legos. It kind of reminded me of when Luffy protected Chopper's flag because he knew it was important to him
"Shadow of the Sun God"-Otama
I feel like elbaf is gonna be so huge that where the straw hats have been is gonna seem like a lake compared to the whole ocean.
I have no idea wtf is going on anymore. A first in all these 20 years of reading One Piece
0:01 I really like the use of thumbnail in the first shot.
It’s like I clicked on the thumbnail and it immediately moved. The visual illusion was nice
Telling usopp to get his nose out of his butt gives me a very let’s just say interesting image in my mind
"it's back to you"
"me"
I'd love if you would do the "me" part as the one, that does the current video, because you usually have different lightning and/or shirt you wear, would make the transition even better. just a small detail, but this would be waaaay better imo :)
Thank you for explaining Road's character because every other review was mentioning him as if I should have known from the beginning who this was.
I really like the idea that after awaking luffy realized his body can just do the shit his Gears does with no need to transform.
For those wondering: Map from Monastery of the Shadow Sorcerers, made by the Arcane library, a 8th level 5e Adventure :)
It was an elephant whip and his leg was clearly blown up as it would be with gear 3
he appeared in the cover of a chapter called "I will return" literally a foreshadow
Sooo does this chapter confirm that all the errors in the previous one weren't illusions but actual mistakes?
i like how the other humans all broke character and decided to book it when Rodo started chasing the Straw Hats
