- "Good Enough" is a song by American singer Cyndi Lauper, which was released in 1985 as part of the soundtrack for the film "The Goonies." The movie "The Goonies," directed by Richard Donner and produced by Steven Spielberg, is a beloved adventure-comedy released in 1985. The film follows a group of kids from the "Goon Docks" neighborhood who embark on a thrilling treasure hunt to save their homes from foreclosure.
Cyndi Lauper's "Good Enough" is an energetic and upbeat song that perfectly captures the adventurous spirit of the movie. The song's catchy melody and empowering lyrics reflect the determination and camaraderie of the young protagonists in the film. It became a popular track on the soundtrack and remains a nostalgic favorite for fans of both the movie and Cyndi Lauper's music.
If you're referring to the song, it's worth noting that song titles are usually written using standard English spelling, so it would be "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough." The use of "R" instead of "are" in the title adds a playful and casual touch, matching the film's youthful and carefree vibe.
1 of the most underrated voices ever Cyndi Lauper!
They definitely played this song on the radio. It made top 10 on U.S. bilboard hot music chart and 15 weeks on the top 20-40 chart.
Wish you would so part 2. It has the Bangles in it
I love my man in the middle reaction! He is a true Goonies fan!
Also never seen this video. Y’all have quickly become a huge favorite channel. Thank you all for these reactions.
I unashamedly LOVE this song ❤
I like the song. It’s fun and catchy
I love the goonies too! The song is "Good Enough" and fits the movie well.
The lyrics have nothing to do with the movie.
Cyndi’s vocals and vocal range are amazing! She’s from Queens. Check out I’m Gonna Be Strong and Who Let In The Rain.
My favorite of hers!! So much fun!!! ❤
You have to do part 2
Listen to “she bop” and “girls just wanna have. She is very unique, likely never to be replicated or replaced
Cyndi is just about my favorite person in the world, but this is far from her best song. Both the song and the video bring me a lot of joy just from nostalgia, though. On my 8th birthday I was allowed to buy 2 cassette tapes for the first time. *So exciting!* I chose "She's So Unusual" and "Purple Rain" and I will stand by those two albums til my dying day.
Rip rowdy Roddy Piper brought them together.. 1 of the legends.
Lol... I Love the chorus in this song!! The song itself is ok. However, All Through The Night was my song by her! 👍🏿 Great Reaction as usual guys!! 🥰
The teen actors have stated that all of them were starstruck when meeting Cyndi, even Josh and Sean, Google who Josh and Sean's parents are.
I fuckin love the guy in the middle. Firstly from the Shane Hawkins drumming reaction, but now to one of my favourite guilty pleasures - Cyndi. The genuine joy and enthusiasm is infectious, seriously :)
I drove all night, is another fave
Theres more of this video andre the giant shows up at the end with the rest of the goonies.
Never would have thought a Goonie would turn out to be Thanos.
Or an Oscar winner.
I know right. Who knew? 😃
Its was the time of the rock and wrestling connection back in 84-85 known fact the late Richard Donner directed the Goonies Spielberg was a producer.
Cyndi Lauper was an orphan Captain Lou Albano found her on the singing at the stairs of a live event and adopted her
At the time, Cyndi's manager and boyfriend, Dave Woff, astutely recognized the growing interest in WWF, and it was Dave who orchestrated the pivotal connection. The rest, as they say, is history!
This video was produced by Speilberg. Its a fun parody video that promoted the movie using popular WWF Wrestlers. It is in the same style as Weird Al's Amish Paradise. I was friends with Nikolai Volkoff and Freddie Blassie. In real life they were really nice guys. See Part 2 which continues the story with the Bangles and Andre the Giant. Woman's Champion Weni Richter and her real life enemy Moohla (she hated her guts) are also in the video. All the WWF Wrestlers (except for Wendi) are deceased.
Hulk Hogan was the one to introduce her to the owner of Sony where she became a great singer
Yes but she also came out in WRESTLEMAINIA 1 with the HULKSTER
Membersof Generation X had the best childhoods of any generation on the planet. I could list the reasons why, but everyone already knows them.
LOVE YOU DID THIS !! I'm 65...Met Cyndi Lauper When She & Friend of Mine Rob Hyman were Working on Song Time After Time In Studio in Manayunk Pa ( Near Philly) Rob was in Band Called The Hooters...I made stage clothes for them...Had CRAZY Wild Party night in Philly watching Rob & rest of Hooters Play at the Grammys with her....All friends of Hooters.... WILL say Though Her HUGE Song ..Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...Was written By Philly Artist Robert Hazard,,,Knew him too,But he was kind of Pretentious Asshole !! LOL
I'm probably biased too cause I was a kid during this era. Plus the tune was played on the Goonies Atari game that I played as a kid. FYI Speilberg didn't direct it he was a writer
Thanks for the correction on that. I always thought he directed it. 🙂
check out the video / song for her version of Marvin Gayes "What's Going On".
My faves by her is True Colors and Time After Time. I’ve never heard this one! Thanks, guys. I hope you do We Are the World- Cyndi killed it on that one. ❤❤❤❤I love her Bronx accent.
She sang Cher's song "If I Could Turn Back Time" at Cher's Kennedy Center Honors show and rocked the house. She later sang it with Cher as a duet. She killed it both times. They are both on TH-cam.
@bossfan49
Cher; "You said you couldn't be here!"
Cyndi; "I Lied!" 😆
theres a part 2 to this video
That was 🔥, thanks for sharing
The Bangles are in the 2nd part of the video.
Did u not hear her vocals homie haha
it was a innocent time.
For those who don’t know the skinny guy in the blue hat at the beginning is Steven Spielberg!!
Its a two part video
Love this track!
She has a bandoleer with like armor piercing or sniper bullets.
Great song. Don't get how you couldn't like it.
It’s a good enough song
You Have To Watch Josh Gad’s Reunited Apart Goonies!! So Good!! Oh Those Great WWF Days!!
As the end suggests, there is indeed a sequel video which is the same song but continues the adventure. I didn't remember so I had to look it up.
To be fair, Cyndi herself doesn't really like the song, so Olli has that going for him. Reason it's not on any of her compilations before 2003, and she didn't play it live before 2004.
Back when they were called the WWF….
Long island
Are you fricken serious!! Shes from Boston!!!
I'm older than ya'll, but I've never watched it. I'm from the 80's, but I haven't watched a few so called classics.
Ehi, you lost the end of the video🤔
The song has absolutely nothing to do with the movie. Spielberg hired Cyndi to be the music director for the film. She reached out to other artists who contributed songs, and she contributed the song "Good Enough". It was decided it would be the "theme song" but the studio insisted it be tied to the movie in every way, so it was released as "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" and this ridiculous video was made....incorporated Lauper's involvement in WWF Rock 'n Wrestling...once again, to bolster support for the film. Because of that, Lauper grew to hate the song. She didn't include it on her Greatest Hits and refused to perform it live from 1987 through the mid-2000s.
Her voice is nails on a chalkboard to me.
