I loved the Law and Order skit its hilarious and not to mention you nailed it .I hate that the Cummins is acting up i guess he feels let down by all the yellow around him😂😂😂😂
The older you get the longer you take but you still figure jobs like you were young. I thought this winter I would rip apart the master bath and paint, tile and replace the toilet and sink and vanity. Yeah thought maybe a month……….well it’s been 2 and a half months and still peeling up the stupid glued down floor so I can get the tile laid. I forgot about the naps, the sore back and the other stuff like watching Jpaydirts videos that take up time.
With the cam tool we pulled the rear cam bushing forward and knocked the others back. Use a sharpie to draw a center line down the cam bore oil hole and the new bushing. Then line up the bushing line to the cam bore line. You need 3/4 hole or better open. Measure the old cam box gaskets and use that thickness as a starting point for the new gaskets. Before TDC will give you more pull and After TDC will give you better fuel economy.
Thanks for the video Jeff well done with the Peterbilt great work 💪👍❤️❤️. Take care of yourself and family and friends and Griffey 🐕 and be Blessed ❤️.
Mr Griff is hilarious. Petey says AHH, thanks jeff for the under carriage spray job. Like new truck will be so relaxing, just need to charge more to cover expense. Get well Jeff stay warm.
AWESOME update!!! VERY INGENIOUS on the tool manufacture...... 😏 LIFE is FUN when things come together, JEFF will WIN!!! THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO, ALWAYS interesting to sit be the fire and watch you folks plod along "GETTIN-ER-DUN" GOD BLESS 😍😍😍😍😍🙏🏻
Great video Jeff nice law and order skit. One way or they other you'll probably have Petey in the shop for however long it takes to fix what's wrong. The other things you have to do starter, air system for transmission shifting. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Jeff.
It takes a while to learn how to play and win .when you get new toys . Especially when it's not yellow.. we all know you will win .. just spent four days looking for a wiring fault in my 40 year old Isuzu scr480 . So enjoy your fixing
Can’t believe ya over looked that damn battery Jeffery. What kinda amateur hour outfit ya runnin anyway?! Haha. On a serious note, thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
🎵 Bum, Bum 🎵 The story you are about see is true. Peaty’s name has been changed to protect the innocent.😇 🤔 Dragnet and CSI mixed metaphor. 🤣😂🤣 The ol’ hotsy looks a bit fussy after its long nap, but it’s running and spraying hot. Definitely a win. 🏆
My n14 had had plastic oil nozzles for each main bearing one broke off made the one starve for oil I could see it looking from one side of the the block to the other
What’s that old line “The quality Doesn’t go in before the name goes on.” I wonder what rocket scientist in accounting thought it was a good idea to use plastic nozzles in the oil system. Arsholes nothing but Arsholes working for Cumming these days.
there are timing marks on the pulley that set the injectors, when you get the pulley off there is is a plug in the hole you will find the timing marks for the ass drive
Grinding when shifting between the high and low side is a lot of times just the synchronizer, but inspect the flange on the main shaft bearing and make sure the shoulder isn’t broken. A new synchronizer will cure the problem for a week or so but o broken flange will wipe out the new synchronizer.
I was waiting to see how much used black oil Mr. New Coat would be wearing after dumping that bucket...........he enjoyed better luck that I would have!
Mister Paydirt, have You ever noticed the difference in the amount of effort put into steaming the job to be worked on when the guy skin diving it warshes it ? Sorry to hear that your Petey is suffering. Now that the Cummins is getting an OoF OH, is there any thoughts, or possibility of putting a Cat motor in Petey instead? (I bet you get loads of comments about that.)
my guess is 23 days. rent that tool out, there is gunna be others that will/can use it. Got love these throw back to "Dragnet TV show & Law and Order" theme. You gonna make a "Welcome back Kotter" when it get running again?
TH-cam has playing with the coding for a few weeks now. Updating stuff for AI I guess and figuring out how to make more money 💰. Adding numerous unwanted corporate commercials to the queue. $$$$$$$
ONYX 1/2" right angle impact. Not the highest of impact torque but better than nothing. Relatively cheap. This tool has made many a difficult job easier for me.
Please keep using the sound effects until you get a cease and desist letter from Special Victims Crime Unit's lawyer. Then we can all read it and laugh on how they pick on the little guy!
Some how I missed that Petey was down for the count and need to go under Doctor Jeff’s sockets and wrenches. That said I know it would cost more but after I saw Jeff was replacing cam bearings and given the other stupid parts replacement problems and other Cummin engine troubles he has had I think I would be looking for a 3406B or C mechanical engine and 18 speed that pour good money into that pile Cummins and years ago I used to like to run Cummins engines in my junk many moons ago. My prediction for how long Petey will be down and under Dr Jeff’s care is a minimum of 2 months regardless if f you decide to keep dumping money into that pile of Cummins or do a mechanical Yellow transplant. PS. Personally I prefer crimp style hose fittings be it Hydraulic, A&N, style, A/C lines, etc and when I was first teaching myself to crimp hose fittings I really didn’t mess up that many fittings but I started with A&N Fuel lines and then moved to Hydraulic lines not that I think that it really mattered.
i guess you didnt see my reply from a couple days ago from the video three years ago, but i told ya so. you will need a air regulator, schro and the drive gear to stop the grinding, if there any burrs at all replace the gears. there is a special tool for the acc drive pulley to remove and install it. you can make a quickserve account and get the repair information for free. you better redo the rods and mains. well at 24 mins i guess i will accept that as accepting i told ya so. can you live with 40 psi cold and 20 psi hot oil pressure?
Next time put your trans in high range 9th or 10 th gear and you will break the accessory drive nut loose. The valve set marks are right behind where the rear of the water pump belt sits. Recommend using a scotch brite pad to clean it up. There will be A ,B and C marks. A= 1or 6, B= 2 or 5, C= 3 or 4. Trans issue, you can pull just the auxiliary section. In most cases you will need the synchro assembly and the auxiliary drive gear with the snap ring. Replace the trans air pressure regulator also. Excessive air pressure will cause premature synchro failures. You will need a trans gasket kit also. When pulling the back box drive the two big dowel pins forward and out of the main case so you don’t fight trying to pull the rear case off the dowels. There are timing marks on the aux. countershafts. Leave the rear c/shaft covers off and bolt two puller bars on with a bolt into the threaded hole in each c/shaft then two bolts using the cover bolt holes to hold the c/shafts in place. You will see the dowels you knocked out have a slightly larger diameter into the main case. The larger OD must protrude a minimum of 1/8” into the auxiliary case to properly align the two cases. I have the same cam bearing driver you have. If you trim the hex off about 1/8” behind the roll pin you have enough room to install #7 cam bearing without damaging the drive plug in the block. The service cam bearings have slightly larger oil holes so you can be off a couple degrees and the oil hole line up okay. Use high tack gasket adhesive to hold you trans gasket to the main case after you reinstall the dowel pins. Good luck
On the NTC Cummapart's it was done with an A. B. C. on the accessory drive... they were way better than the N14... Truthfully I don't know why you even have that pile of crap N 14... The 1 I had would eat a seal out of the accessory drive every 6 months... $9,000.00 t9 replace the accessory drive every 6 months hurt...
I loved the Law and Order skit its hilarious and not to mention you nailed it .I hate that the Cummins is acting up i guess he feels let down by all the yellow around him😂😂😂😂
It’s amazing what you get into and fix Jeff! Filming it all the while which slows down. Amazing to watch you! Thanks.

I Love the paint color of your dump truck. It just looks so elegant.
If its anything like the D9 still by the door I would say about a year LOL Great work Jeff !!!
Mr Griffy seems happy the steamer works again....
Except for the water over spray, dampens his enthusiasm a little.

I'm betting 4 weeks if you get parts. I'm glad you are working inside for a change, Joe.
Jeff that was a seriously cool video love it when your working on the big iron.
We always installed a wear sleeve on the pulley for the new seal
Thanks for sharing your video take care.
Hi mate thanks for sharing looking forward to seeing you progress with the old girl

I think petey will be in the shop for 2 months.
Parts availability will most likely be a big problem!!
Cheers and good luck!
Just saw your short on the wrist pin play.
I think my 2 months might be accurite.
I hope cummins stock more parts than your cat dealer does!
Well done!!
One thing leads to another as you well know Jeff, I expect the next video showing the entire engine tore down getting a full inframe.
how did you know
@Jpaydirt just a hunch knowing how my projects snowball. May as well do it all right while you're in there.
Yes your tool will fit all the 14L Cummins, Small Cam, all Big Cams and N-14.
One thing leads to another, but at least it will be ready to work when you get through! 🏆
Looks like Griff solved your burner problem...there's obviously a demon inside the steam cleaner. 😂
3 weeks later.... Thanks for the upload!
If she's grinding going from high to low it's your back box I've been there lol 😅 great video Jeff as always 💪💪💪😎🤠😎
Only grinds low to high and not all the time
@@Jpaydirt synchronizer is toast I believe you will find.
Thanks Jeff!
Can’t believe ya over looked that damn battery Jeffery. What kinda amateur hour outfit ya runnin anyway?! Haha. On a serious note, thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
That was both hilarious and tragic, Jeff.
Trans sounds like the synchronizer in the back half that goes from high to low on the splitter button...it is what makes it grind
The gaskets on those cam followers are a specific thickness, just any gasket wont work.
🎵 Bum, Bum 🎵

I’d say month or longer. You know how it goes with equipment 😮
Where’s a good place to get those muffler stacks like the ones on Kenny?
Turned out to be a really good purchase... Don't feel sorry for those guys in CA.. .Just buy their old (but still great) trucks...
My n14 had had plastic oil nozzles for each main bearing one broke off made the one starve for oil I could see it looking from one side of the the block to the other

They have plastic piston cooling nozzles
Piston cooling nozzles, need changed everything.........I don't know 😂
there are timing marks on the pulley that set the injectors, when you get the pulley off there is is a plug in the hole you will find the timing marks for the ass drive
So, Jeff, at what point do you lift the radiator cap up and replace that Cummins with a CAT®️
Grinding when shifting between the high and low side is a lot of times just the synchronizer, but inspect the flange on the main shaft bearing and make sure the shoulder isn’t broken. A new synchronizer will cure the problem for a week or so but o broken flange will wipe out the new synchronizer.
Thanks for the info, I'll take a look
👍👍👍
Mr Griffey is in attack mode ,,That steamer is pissin him off,,
Skills. You have them. How long in the shop.... Depends on parts delivery. Hope you get well soon
well I've been scouring ebay for surplus parts and have saved a ton of money
I got a 92 Kenworth with a 3406B Caterpillar work really good in Petey then you’d be rid of the N14 problem lol🎉
3/4 drive ratchet with 1”5/16 socket on accessory drive nut resting against the frame and bump the starter takes that nut off all the time.
#JeffWins
Even with a Cummins.
This episode is definitely approved by Shop Foreman Mr. Griffy.
I think the hotsys are manufactured here in Iowa-Humbolt '
I was waiting to see how much used black oil Mr. New Coat would be wearing after dumping that bucket...........he enjoyed better luck that I would have!

Jeff I just went through this on my truck, the shifter knob is bad 99% of the time , Chuck
What about a SWITCHBLADE TURBO? For N14
Would you like some apple pie with that 😂
If you paint that “new tool”, guaranteed you will never need it again.
Too bad Petey wasn't born with an 06b Do you hate Peterbilts clutch pedal design as much as i do // Love your work

Yeah, that's one way lubetube screws content creators !

Yes, lubetube does that to " pork " content creators.

Thanks for the video get some rest
Out in time for Easter.
Cut to 4 weeks later, 3406b model gets lowered in complete with a construction king sticker and signature.
Might as well drill out that tamper ball while you're in there 😉
Don't put a muzzle on Petey, he sounds fantastic!
Sorry Jeff, about a month, for Petey, lol.
Question of the day, will it be painted cat yellow?
Instagram says you worked harder than you said. 😂
I bet at least 1 month

we tried that
