Please help I have 2000 Ford mustang v6 3.8l the car seems to warm up fine while it sits but then when I get on the road the temperature guage sits around 130 degrees instead of 190. What could be the caused of this ? Bad thermostat? I just replaced it unless I didn't do it correctly.

take a look at your air intake and see if it’s damaged or the IAT sensors or MAP sensors could be reading the wrong air or measuring the wrong temperature. To see if your thermostat is working put it in a pot of water and boil it if the spring opens up and the passage is clear then your thermostat is okay

Because there’s an alternator positive post like a quarter inch from the metal burp tube that wraps around to the back of the engine..right in this exact area. It’s extremely easy for the two to touch if you are squeezing around in there for leverage to lean in or, well, do anything repair wise in that area. ESPECIALLY when replacing the water pump, as you have to remove that overflow tube from the top of the water pump. I’ve seen plenty of sparks fly on this particular engine from that exact area. Ford does have a boot to cover the post, but 90% of them have been broken or removed from alternator replacements.
