I’ll take a Sachs suspension everyday over the KYB for tough Rocky Mountain enduro riding that’s not racing. I don’t race. Most don’t race. I love the more plush Sachs suspension. Great content. (Plus I like the looks better)
I'm 72 and picked up a 300 race edition. I added a lowering link and trail valving to the forks. And a nice Seat Concepts seat. I absolutely love this bike. Plushness and handling on steep technical nasty trails is smazing.
I’m so happy my dealer talk with me out for the race edition ( costing him money) I honestly liked it for the look, but ended up getting a free set of race edition graphics anyways haha. All the other bling I can add over time. But after riding my dads race edition, I definitely prefer the standard suspension for my riding style. Lower speed technical Hard enduro.
Thanks for the comment and sharing your experience with both of these models! It was cool your dealer is like us and didn't just try to sell you the more expensive model! Thanks, Jared
Thanks for the video - super informative and very easily laid out. I was on the fence between the two models and you just made the decision easier. Standard RR all the way! Thanks again
Have been a woods rider since 1972 it is time for me to thin my herd of vintage and post vintage bikes . So I wanted the button.....lol I chose the 200RR because after all my injuries and getting older i dont need a big bore and i have several . I've always enjoyed 250's and in the modern era this 200 has as much if not more power than some of my old 250's. My racing days i think are over so this will be (i hope) the ultimate retirement bike although they are very tall and the seats suck for old guys . Already ordered and new one from seat concepts but they are 3 months out ....grrrr guess i need to do alot of squats to get my chicken bone legs in shape again. Love the bike just haven't had it out on the trails yet. Big learning curve ahead of the this old Husky and Bultaco rider!
I put 135 hours on a 21 300rr and 200 hours on a 22 300 Race. Night and Day difference, the Race is so much better a bike on the trail. I'm not super fast. I actually bought another 21 Race to back up my 22, by far the best bike I've ever owned for the stuff I like to do, 95% single track.
The line to ride the 200RR was always long at our demo day so never got to ride it but all I heard ranged from that was the best ride ever to Wow. Never heard a complaint . Got to ride the 300RR several times and it was awesome in both tight and flowing trails with water bars and hard pack . I was a mid pack B rider and now a fast C - the RR was as close to perfect for me as can get with no rider specific set-up.
I absolutely agree that the standard RR model is a fantastic bike for 99% of us riders! Glad you got to ride the 300s but you missed out on that magical 200cc bike! Hopefully you get the chance next time! HERE IS MY PRO TIP: Even at the dealer meeting I am already dressed and on the BIKE Side of the group for the riders meeting that way when they say we can go ride I make a fast walk to my favorite bike! Enjoy the ride, Jared
I’ve watched so many videos the last week comparing bikes. I keep coming back to the 300rr. I’m 57 and just got back into off road riding after buying a 22 klx300 dual sport to ride to work. Took it on some single track a month ago with some buddies. Loved the riding but not the bike for that. So now I’m looking for another bike for just that. Started researching the xtrainer but after watching several videos and reading I’m leaning more towards the 300rr . Great videos
Glad you like them! I would suggest the 300 RR as well, not the race edition but the standard RR model for off road trail riding. If you end up finding a Beta Motorcycle I would be glad to help you with parts/ accessories at a discount! Orders also qualify for free shipping at a certain dollar amount. Enjoy the ride, Jared
I just purchased a 2022 200rr race edition! It's my 1st ever new bike. I can't wait for it to warm up so I ca ride it!! Hopefully next week 😬 🙏. Because it's my first bike I did a ton of research and a couple of things that were missed on the 2022 200rr race edition..... the race edition has a different head with a tighter squish. Also on the new race edition they use a different cylinder with one exhaust power valve. On the regular 200rr it's a double power valve setup. Also this year they re-valved the kyb forks to be softer in slower chop.!
Thanks for the comment! Yes the 200 has some differences between each model. I was trying to do a more general difference between a Standard RR and a Race Edition.. I just happen to have the 200cc versions here.. Also, the 4 stroke models will have traction control on the Race Editions for 2022!
Did you break both wrists in the same incident? Thanks in advance, I'm bared from responding in comments. Great side by side comparison and narration, very straight forward and clear.
Hey thanks for watching our videos and the positive comment! Yep, I washed my front end and slammed into a tree... I used a Rekluse for the rest of that year to help...
Race edition has billet triple clamps apposed to cast. The closed cartridge Sachs forks that are on my 390 RE are what Beta should have stuck with, amazing forks!
Thanks for watching our video! Actually all Betas come with billet triple clamps. Just the race editions can be anodized a different color depending on the model year.
Very cool! Glad the video helped! Keep in mind we offer discounts on Beta Parts/ Accessories so if you end up with a new ride we could ship stuff your way! Thanks, Jared
Apparently the 200RR Race Edition has a new 1 piece power valve and head for more mid to top end power. But the standard edition does not. Can you comment on whether the RE feels any less "rideable" than the standard edition? Thank you for your effort on Beta content.
Thanks for the comment! I spent quite a bit of time on the new 2022 Beta 200 standard model when we had it here for the Beta Demo Days. There was not a 2022 200 Race Edition in that group of bikes that we got to ride. I did sell one of our Race Edition 200s to a friend so with luck and good weather I will get a chance to ride it! Stay tuned on our channel for a bunch more beta content! Thanks, Jared
If you were a heavier and taller rider (I am 6ft 4" and 205 lbs dry), would you then recommend the stiffer suspension? I'm also typically riding in 2nd and 3rd gear in black rated single track. But at 45, becoming less and less aggresive in my riding style.
Good Morning, thanks for watching our video! I would 100% recommend the standard RR model. I am also the exact same height and weight and would rather trail ride the standard model on the harder trail stuff. Stiffer suspension is great for launching jumps but it is not friendly to slower speed rock sections and tight trails. Thanks, Jared
Man I really want the Beta 200! I’ve been on 4T’s the past 10yrs but before that I grew up on 2T’s. I really like what I’m hearing about this 200! It seems like the perfect balance of bike for the tight single track & mountains here in Georgia. I had a KTM350EXCF the past 4yrs & loved the balance of it being in between the 250 & 450. I feel like this is the same thing but a 2T. Also, can I make this bike street legal? Thanks for the video!
You will LOVE the 200 2t. I have both a 300 2t and a 350 4t and was able to ride a 2022 Beta 200 for a week and absolutely fell in love with it. If bikes were not so hard to get I would of considered keeping a 200 and selling one of my other bikes. BUT as a dealer it's important to take care of the customers! Thanks for watching, Jared
Good question! Yep the 2024 RE KYB is still inline with the race editions of previous years. I would try to get to a demo event and see what works best for you! I would recommend the standard RR model but you never know until you try it! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Thanks for the Video. I was leaning towards the Race thinking the forks are that much better however I’m only going to trail ride. I’m 42, 205, intermediate rider getting back into riding now that my son is getting older. I was still planning on ordering it from Factory with the 200lb springs. Lot of the National Forests I ride have several erosion berms that I launch off. Now question is 250 or 300?? I live East coast SC will ride Sand ,Mud and roots. Occasionally NC,OH hills. I’ll be lugging around with the boy but still will rip it occasionally. What do you think? 250 or 300?
Good Morning Kevin, thanks for the comment! Based on your riding description I think the standard RR is a great bike for what you are planning on doing. I don't think the KYB forks are "better" unless you are aggressively riding. We just got back from a trip down south and made a stop in SC at the GTR facility. It was a super fun place, they had just held a hare scramble so we were able to ride the whole race loop! I would suggest a 300cc bike. They lug for days and won't leave you wondering if you are in the right gear at the next hill climb. Hope you enjoy your future Beta purchase!
Hey Good Afternoon! Yep, Beta is switching to Liqui Moly, in all honesty it's because it will be their new title sponsor for the race team but they have been promoting and still sending Motul in every crate with the bikes. That will eventually switch over as they run out of the Motul.
Great Video! I have a 2021 Sherco 300SEF wich is one of the best bikes i have ever owned ( over Honda, KTM Husqvarna) and considering Beta 300cc since i want a 2 stroke bike, i love the KYB forks in my Sherco and wanted to ask you if i will be dissapointed with the standard sacks forks if i go to with the RR ? I dont race mostly hard enduro and a little bit of motocross, Thanks
Good Evening! Thanks for the comment, I actually enjoy the stock Sachs forks! If I am riding motocross then yes I enjoy the KYB but if I am doing a hare scramble, following my boys, trail riding I would rather have the smoother ride of the Sachs. Good Evening, that was really limited to 2018/2019. And even saying that we only replaced 2 motors I believe out of all of the bikes we sold. Thanks for the comment, Jared
If you’re going to have a pro tuner revalve the forks no matter which version you buy, does it just make more sense to get the Race Edition? Is KYB simply a superior platform and if you’re gonna have it tuned anyway, the RE version is the way to go?
Thanks for watching our channel! Some customers enjoy the Oil Injection that is provided on the standard RR model & the standard RR is less money. Other than that it just depends on your suspension guy and what he is more comfortable working on. I would reach out to them and see what they would rather work on. Enjoy the ride, Jared
Are the rear shocks the same? Do they have the same valving? I have owned several Yamahas with the KYB SSS forks and do agree that open cartridge forks are more comfortable, while the sss are better at harder hits and higher speeds.
Good Morning, thanks for watching our videos! I have always thought the rear shock is the same (model year for model year). I know it is exactly the same as far as length and brand. The race edition might be a tad stiffer valving. I would have to confirm with Beta USA on that tho.
Thanks for the comment! Let me get both models in stock (RR and Race Edition) and next to each other again and I will compare a few things. We are very low on bikes as Covid has made shipping miserable. As soon as I have an update I'll let you know! Thanks, Jared. Also, keep in mind I offer discounts on Beta parts! Give me a ring if you ever need parts/ accessories!
@@3SeasRecreation Great! Thanks. I just found this channel and am enjoying the content. I'll be a customer in the future when I travel to the states to visit family.
Hey, im currently riding a 2019 husky 250i. I’m planning on upgrading to the 2023 beta 300 rr. Do you think the race editon would be good for hard enduro riding and my style?
Thanks for checking out our channel! If you charge into the obstacles hard then it would probably work but would need to be softened up. I think the RR suspension is a bit softer and would handle the slower/harsher conditions but if you can swing a leg over one and give it a try! You will absolutely enjoy the Beta motor for Hard Enduro! Keep us in mind for parts/ accessories! We love to work with customers! Enjoy the ride, Jared
Yep as it has already been stated you can purchase a kit. The cool thing with Beta is they still offer a kick start kit. Most brands have taken away the ability to even add the kit! Thanks for watching, Jared.
Question, does the2022 Beta 480 RR has the same plastics and exhaust as the 2022 Beta 500RR-S? Been looking to buy some plastics and exhaust but they dpnt advertise any for the 500 only for the 480RR but they look exactly the same to me
Good Afternoon! Yes the exhaust would be exactly the same along with the plastics! If you are in the USA and also in the market for Beta parts give us a call we offer discounts and usually free shipping depending on the order size! Thanks, Jared
That is totally doable! They make the oil injection kit that can be added to the 2 stroke models. If you ever purchase one and want the kit please reach out to us! We offer discounts on all OEM Beta parts/ accessories! Thanks, Jared
Good evening! Both bikes (standard RR & Race Edition) have the ability to install the correct spring rates for the rider. I would rather you pick the bike based on features you enjoy and then add the right springs for the job. As a side note I am around 200lb and love the standard suspension even without different springs. Thanks, Jared
Good Morning, yes the Race Edition is a premix model and the standard RR is an oil injected model. Both us a carburetor but the standard RR has an oil tank that feeds an oil line down to the carb boot and injects the correct amount of oil needed. Thanks for watching, Jared
Good Morning, thanks for the comment. I think it 100% depends on how you ride. When I broke both wrists a few years ago I enjoyed the softer Sachs way more than the rigid KYB. Different models for different customers! Enjoy the ride, Jared
I don’t like the feel of KYBs on hard enduro. To rigid, not plush enough which is good for racing but for enduro riders who enjoy the gnarly trails like Colorado and Utah, Sachs is so much more plush. Too many make the mistake of thinking of its good for racing then it’s good for them but unless you’re racing, the Sachs is a better performance suspension.
@@3SeasRecreation Yes, that has pretty much what i have been doing the past 2 years now! Great video as well, I haven't seen one with this much depth and good, all around "look", at the 2 bikes yet. Currently waiting on the 250rr race edition, due to of course..... shipping delays. HA!
Thank you for your candor. It was extremely refreshing to hear someone explain why the less flashy bike is better for most people.
I’ll take a Sachs suspension everyday over the KYB for tough Rocky Mountain enduro riding that’s not racing. I don’t race. Most don’t race. I love the more plush Sachs suspension. Great content. (Plus I like the looks better)

Why do you say one is premix? I have never had one but live in uk and both on pictures look carb models????????
Good Morning, yes the Race Edition is a premix model and the standard RR is an oil injected model. Both us a carburetor but the standard RR has an oil tank that feeds an oil line down to the carb boot and injects the correct amount of oil needed. Thanks for watching, Jared
Kyb is leaps better than the sachs
Good Morning, thanks for the comment. I think it 100% depends on how you ride. When I broke both wrists a few years ago I enjoyed the softer Sachs way more than the rigid KYB. Different models for different customers! Enjoy the ride, Jared
@@3SeasRecreation no one rides stock anymore and kyb has far more tunability.
I don’t like the feel of KYBs on hard enduro. To rigid, not plush enough which is good for racing but for enduro riders who enjoy the gnarly trails like Colorado and Utah, Sachs is so much more plush. Too many make the mistake of thinking of its good for racing then it’s good for them but unless you’re racing, the Sachs is a better performance suspension.
what virus?
Ha! I agree, stay in the woods and keep riding!
HA!
