Hi my name is Monique. God led me out of Protestantism since three weeks after 39 years in it. I am back to my roots which is the Catholic church. Yesterday I was struggling with confession as I had in my head the same question that this man asked you. God led me to your video. Thank you so much for this preaching. I am so grateful and blessed. I have so many wrong teachings in my head which need to be washed away. I am watching a lot of your videos and others. Thank you for your ministry. Greatly appreciated. May God bless you all. 🙏

God didn't lead you out of anything you did yourself. Catholicism isn't going to save or religion. You must be born again accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. That I the only way. John 3:3 Verily Verily I say unto thee unless a man is born again he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Matthew 16:24-26 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Our old parish priest explained it for us, ordinary church goers in the most blunt way.
"The protestants say that you can confess your sins directly to God.. Yeah, this is also taught by the church. Pray the act of contrition before going to sleep"
"The question is did HE forgive you? Really? How did you know?"
"Do you think we, the priests, enjoy listening over and over again about the craps you did?"
"Why do we hear confession then? Because Christ COMMANDED us to hear them and to relay HIs forgiveness"
"This is how we know we are forgiven"
I remember after that homily, I have made it a habit to go to confession unlike before when I did go once in a blue moon.

This is why many people are going to Hell because they reject the truth and think religion will save them. Jesus said many will say to me on this day Lord Lord haven't I done many works in your name, cast out demons and he will save I never knew you. You must be born again. John 3:3 Verily Verily I say unto thee unless a man is born again he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Matthew 16:24-26 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. @@RichardMizenko Religion, from the Latin word "religare' meaning to bind again.
Why bind again? You see the bible is categorized into Old Testament and the New Testament. The bottom line of both is the covenant between God and His people.
So to ignore the part of religion in the process of salvation is to ignore the system that ensure the covenant is in place. Exactly what the devil wants- downplay religion and people are easily led astray.

@@DadoMac What does the Bible say about religion? What does Jesus say about Heaven. I go by the Bible the end allbe all not what you say or think. Jesus Christ said unless you are born again sealed with Holy Spirit you will not enter Heaven. You will be going to Hell unless you repent change your mind and way of living turn from sin and unbelief to belief in Christ alone. Roman Catholic church departed from the truth in 500's A.D to worshipping Mary and praying to her and dead saints which the Bible condemns in 1st and 2nd Commandment. Jesus rebuked the very religious people the pharisees who thought there self righteousness and good deeds would get then into Heaven. Isaiah 64:6 talks about our righteousness is filthy rags to God.

@@RichardMizenko There you go, you claim to be 'born again'- a term coined by southern baptist in the 1960's Can you handle the truth? That term was just a few decades ago. Just because the bible mention born again doesn't mean it refers you. Proof? You false pastors taught you the wrong way to be born again, not the bible way.
You ask what the bible say about religion. The word is mentioned a lot of times and I find this one interesting:
"Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless" I'm sure you will dwell on the negativity- that's what you ae known for to fit your narrative. But in truth, the verse confirms the fact that religion is the system that sees to it the covenant is being followed.

I bet if I were to ask, "What is the pillar of truth?" You'd probably answer it was the bible. Well no, it's The Church, per 1 Timothy 3:15. Jesus came to establish a Church, not a bible reading system. The Bible didn't exist for a long time after Jesus. Lets get back to the Church he founded, which has the infallible Word of God, which has the teachings of The Apostles which are binding here on Earth as in Heaven, and is the only church which offers true Worship to God, which is the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist. Christ is the head and the body is the church, you can't have one without the other. Since Protestants split away, they've been a thousand different bodies living outside the head of Christ. Incomplete and not united. He wishes us to be as one, as He and the Father are one, John 17: 21-23. Worship is not bible study, you can do that from home, worship in the Bible has always been a sacrifice, since the time of Cain and Able, to Moses, to David, to The Acts of The Apostles. The question is, what church offers an unblemished sacrifice as worship to God? The Catholic Church. Which one has Jesus as the head of it's body? The Catholic Church. What is the Pillar of Truth per the Bible? The Church!!!

According to saint peter , all believers are a royal priesthood. So, should people also confess their sins to us?
According to the book of hebrews , the priesthood who offers sacrifices to God for this sins of the people was done away with.
So, this teaching is out of context. We are told to confess our sins to one another. The priest don't confess they're sins to us.

@agnesbarber4035 Descripters tell us to confess our sin to one another. In the body of true believers, there is no shame or condemnation.
I confess my sins to brothers and sisters in christ that I trust. And we pray for one another.
This still doesn't take a weird fact that the priesthood has been changed and there are no more priests to offer sacrifice/the mass for sins. This should show you that your religion, Go it has biblical truth as the quarn does, it leave no room for the gasple of salvation by grace through faith.

I would also add it wasn't even a new concept to the apostles because the law of Moses already mandated jews to confess their sins to their priest and make a sin offering sacrifice to obtain the pardon of their sins (See Leviticus 5:5-6).
As Jesus said, he didn't come to abolish the law but to fulfill it; and the sacrament of confession is the fulfillment. So with his death and resurrection he wasn't going to abolish the role of priesthood, but elevate it

    John 20: 20-23
"After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
If they have a different interpretation from this literal meaning.. then aren't they the one "adding" to scripture? 😅

Question: When Protestant Pastors perform baptism, do they do it by their own power or claim God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) working through them?
If the latter, and God works through the Pastor for baptism, why is it so difficult for them to understand God works through Priests to forgive sin in sacrament of Confession? As specifically presented in scripture.

Jesus paid the price for our sins but they are not yet forgiven. Baptism erases the stain of original sin and any sins already committed. After Baptism any sins committed have to be forgiven. Jesus gave his apostles and their successors the authority to forgive sins in his name "Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven." This is Scriptural. This authority has been passed down, and by the Sacrament of Holy Orders is carried on by the Priests in the Church.

Drop the mic. Great answer. If people want to be “Biblical”, they need to follow amd accept all of the Bible, including the passages Tim describes here.
The queation is not whether someone can spin passages in the Bible to support their view. Anyone can do that. But at some point, you really have to ask yourself why spin what Jesus said. Protestantism does that over and over. John 6 being a prime example. The passages Tim quotes here being still more. The part in James on “faith alone” being another. Someone can reject these passages, but cant do so while credibly being “Biblical.”

Jesus told to his mother, “My hour is not yet come, but Mary told to the servers, do as what He told you.” And Jesus listened to His mother and perform a miracle, turning water into wine.
We believed in our Blessed Mother when Jesus was hanging on the cross and He told to John, “Son (referring to John) this is your Mother, Woman (referring to Mary) this is your Son.” In this commandment before Jesus’ last hour He told us to recognize Mary as our Blessed Mother and also Mary to be our universal Mother and Mother of the Catholic and Apostolic Church.

The protestants are all proud for protesting Christ's way he left us. They followed the Anti-Christ's way. The disobedient, lukewarm Catholics did the same...the highly religious also! Matt 7:21 says "Only those that do the will of the Father will enter the kingdom of heaven!" So...why are all the others going to Church and praying to Jesus? The apostle Paul also tells us: “Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

Jesus saves us baptized with The Holy Spirit & Holy Water from original sin. Sins committed after Baptism have to be confessed, we have to receive absolution & Penance to serve to be forgiven by God. That’s why He instituted the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). The Priest is in persona Christi when enacting Gods Sacraments. God exhorts through His Priests.
    2 Cor 5:18-20, Jn 20:21-23, Mt 9:8, 16:18-19, 18:17-18.
If we die in mortal sin, we chose to be separated from God. He honors our choices for eternity. There’s no hope left.
If we die in Venial sin, we have to be purged of it to enter Heaven, as nothing impure can enter. Purgatory is a complete cleansing of our souls on the way to Heaven.

So the Church has the authority to treat believers as "pagans or tax collectors" when they are in error, and they won't listen to anyone even the Church. The Apostles encouraged us to confess our sins to one another. So...
Being honest and confessing sins done in secret to a Church authority goes with those two things I just mentioned. Also, the scripture says, "Whoever sins YOU forgive, they are forgiven. Whoever sins YOU retain, they are retained."
    Jesus gave this authority.

I don't think there is a right or a wrong way to do it. I just prefer to go straight to the source. After reading comments, I'm really not sure which Protestant Churches some people have been to. As for my Church, thete are a lot of similarities to a Catholic Church. We are baptized, confirmed, take part in communion, believe in the Virgin Mary, believe in the Holy Trinity, repent of sins, believe we are saved by Grace. We even recite the Apostles Creed. Now, he may make an exception, but we can't be sure that he will. The bible doesn't say that he will. Jesus says to confess to one another and gives the aposltes the ability to forgive or retain sins. But you can hope and he may especially if you are a prodigal son type scenario.

Romans 5.1 Therefore , since we have been justified through faith , we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access ((by faith))) into this grace in which we now stand.
St. Paul tells us that if we try to Justifie ourselves through the work of the law or any work for the matter we Alienate ourselves from God. Because if we are Justified by works , it is no longer grace. Then you will stand Condemned behind You
Have rejected grace and try to get saved your own way.
God doesn't hear sinners but 1john 1:12 tells us that all who receve Jesus are giving the power to become children of God.
      Forgive.
      Justified.
      Sanctified.
      Friend of God.
      Accepted in the beloved.
More than conquerors in christ jesus.
      Seated in heavenly places.
      Having the mind of christ.
And so on. We are no longer sinners but saints who sometimes fall into sins. We are God's friend not so we Take or since to him and confess. We also confess to one another and pray For each other another.
If you read the book of romans , you will see the Priesthole has been changed. There are no more priest in the new testament to offer sacrifice for sins Because the book of hebrews tells us That jesus offered himself a perfect Sacrifice once for all.

The concept of confession of sin to a priest is nowhere taught in Scripture. First, the New Testament does not teach that there are to be priests in the New Covenant. Instead, the New Testament teaches that all believers are priests. First Peter 2:5-9 describes believers as a “holy priesthood” and a “royal priesthood.” Revelation 1:6 and 5:10 both describe believers as “a kingdom of priests.” In the Old Covenant, the faithful had to approach God through the priests. The priests were mediators between the people and God. The priests offered sacrifices to God on behalf of the people. That is no longer necessary. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can now approach God’s throne with boldness (Hebrews 4:16). The temple veil tearing in two at Jesus’ death was symbolic of the dividing wall between God and humanity being destroyed. We can approach God directly, ourselves, without the use of a human mediator. Why? Because Jesus Christ is our great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-15; 10:21) and the only mediator between us and God (1 Timothy 2:5). The New Testament teaches that there are to be elders (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9), deacons (1 Timothy 3:8-13), and pastors (Ephesians 4:11) - but not priests.
When it comes to confession of sin, believers are told in 1 John 1:9 to confess their sins to God. God is faithful and just to forgive our sins as we confess them to Him. James 5:16 speaks of confessing our trespasses “to one another,” but this is not the same as confessing sins to a priest as the Roman Catholic Church teaches. Priests / church leaders are nowhere mentioned in the context of James 5:16. Further, James 5:16 does not link forgiveness of sins with the confession of sins “to one another.”
The Roman Catholic Church bases their practice of confession to a priest primarily on Catholic tradition. Catholics do point to John 20:23, “If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” From this verse, Catholics claim that God gave the apostles the authority to forgive sins and that authority was passed on to the successors of the apostles, i.e., the bishops and priests of the Roman Catholic Church. There are several problems with this interpretation. (1) John 20:23 nowhere mentions confession of sin. (2) John 20:23 nowhere promises or even hints that apostolic authority of any kind would be passed on to the successors of the apostles. (3) The apostles never once in the New Testament acted as if they had the authority to forgive a person’s sin. Similarly, Catholics point to Matthew 16:19 and 18:18 (binding and loosing) as evidence for the Catholic Church’s authority to forgive sins. The same three above points apply equally to these Scriptures.
The ability to forgive sins is God’s and His alone (Isaiah 43:25). The better understanding of John 20:23 is that the apostles were given the responsibility of declaring with utmost certainty the terms on which God would forgive sins. As the church was being founded, the apostles declared that those who believed the gospel were forgiven (Acts 16:31) and those who did not obey the gospel faced judgment (2 Thessalonians 1:8; 1 Peter 4:17). As the apostles proclaimed salvation in Christ (Acts 10:43) and exercised church discipline (1 Corinthians 5:4-5), they were wielding the authority Christ had given them.

Confession is PROPERLY MADE directly to God, and Jesus is our advocate who cleanses us from all unrighteousness. The Priest can only forgive offences against himself, and can't CLEANS anybody from sin. only Jesus can. IF the priest happens to be a Christian (some are) possibly he could give good council, but in the final analysis, he's totally unnecessary where "confession" is concerned.

1 John 4:1 KJV "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of GOD: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby you know the SPIRIT of GOD: Every spirit that confesses that JESUS CHRIST is come in the flesh is of GOD: 3 and every spirit that confesses not that JESUS CHRIST is come in the flesh is not of GOD: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."
Note: GOD was manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16 KJV) as the SON of GOD, JESUS CHRIST, to shed HIS real blood and give HIS real body on a real cross once for the forgiveness of all sins for whosoever believes. (John 3:14-18 KJV, Hebrews KJV chapters 9 and 10.)

A Catholic professor wrote in his book The Roman Catholic Church: “The origins of auricular confession are obscure; it is old, at least as old as the late patristics period [ending about 749 C.E.], but it was not the original discipline of penance.”
