Well well well, been a hot minute, hasn't it? And I'm not just talking about the increasingly frustrating heatwaves we've been having lately. With actual UK cinemas now open and habits to go to the cinema more often on my side becoming more normal again, along with some fatigue on having my first "film reels" made through newer, fancier software being THE LONGEST REELS EVER, I've kinda stepped off of making these more frequently. In fact, the last time I made one of these as a family get-together thing was way back in March with 2 more planned reels (to cover family birthdays I've missed after deciding I'd not have the energy or time for new Christmas ones last year) still yet to be done. That being said, while I'm still in this little hiatus between having these be More of a Thing, I've slowly started reminiscing on the ones I've made...which were a lot. More than I thought I made, haha, and the bulk of those haven't had their trailer reels uploaded so...here's an attempt to start making things right!
Would've shared this one before Christmas last year (besides, it's partly Christmas-orientated in places given its set in December 2001) but energy and busyness with the preparing for the Christmas season got in the way so, whoops. Guess you can have it now. xD Enjoy!

Since I last uploaded anything on here, I've now migrated to a laptop with a 1440p screen which...made looking back at this video after it was rendered awkward so if there's any weird video quirks (especially "jagged edges" on the more high-quality sourced pieces of this), please let me know! :O

This is so cool to see! Fellowship is one of my favourite films. I love seeing cinema reels as it let's you imagine a time when the film was new. I'm surprised by the lack of Christmas ads, did they not go as hard on Christmas ads back in 2001?

Yeah, that's the big appeal for me on these things too. :)
Well, to give you a little glimpse of how the metaphorical sausage works with what I choose to include in these...well, until October 2020 when BBFC redesigned their website in a way that made accessing more specific data of things classified at more specific times ultra-complicated (if not impossible), I would search between a month before the theatrical release date of the film I'm making a "reel" of and one or two weeks after (or in the case of films like this where they release within December, until the friday before Christmas) but by the time I made this reel, I went with a new method to seek out which ads to include and that's to, well...look through many, many UK TV advert break compilations from within that timeframe I'd look to and then look up the product's name in the BBFC's search to see if an ad listing of that specific ad from that specific time was rated in the right time for it to make sense. I'd do that 10 times until I have an ad list in order, it's actually more complicated than seeking out trailers to include!
Any Christmas ad I passed by while searching didn't have a listing on BBFC as a cinema ad so I didn't include it. That being said, I can't remember if there *was* a listing for the Harry Potter game toy but included it anyway as I definitely felt it'd of matched the time period...and to throw my family off the scent of what film it was before the black card, as they've invented a game around when I present these that I go with. x)

@@things2tings734 Wow, I appreciate the level of dedication. I tend to do the same in terms of the old uk ad compilations. I didn't realise the ads were ever catalogued on bbfc website. The surprise movie is an interesting idea I've only ever done it for people in the know, like if they missed a recent release in cinemas.

@@ProtanBoj Yeah, while this was more of a weekly thing for us, that element just became a big part of that so... x)

@@things2tings734 I think if I started doing that my family wouldn't have the patience to sit through it all when we watched movies. But It's my go to way of watching movies nowadays.
