Thank you for sharing this. I noticed that the fondant source includes corn syrup. Have you noted any difference in honey bee health when using non-corn syrup-based fondants? Also, with fondant on a screen with no paper/covering over and under the fondant, is it prone to dry out? Thank you for sharing your practices.
Hi Fred. This big box was from a baker's supply place, and some other places may supply fondant with less/no corn syrup. I haven't seen any difference in health, maybe because the corn syrup is a small component, and also because we usually don't need to use emergency winter feeds. We try to leave enough honey. A sheet of wax paper above and below the slab would be a good idea! There is some drying, but the bees keep nibbling. Thanks.
