This is one of my main issues with American vehicles. You have to dismantle everything just to change a headlight
Thank you for the information. I just hit 50k and same problem happened to me. 💯🔥🚀
I got the same problem too
My 21 RT DRIVER SIDE LIGHT JUST WENT OUT JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. DANG SHAME WHAT YOU GOTTA GO THROUGH JUST TO CHANGE IT 😡
How long the did the job take ?
About 2 hours
I have a 21 RT TnG with the same issue, Driver’s side DRL. Looks like from your comments and from the Durango Forums this is a common problem. In only have 46,000 miles on mine, there’s no way these should be going out already. Warranty expired 10,000 miles ago. OEM replacement part is $1300. I got an aftermarket one on eBay for $300, going to attack it this weekend. Not sure if the self leveling and auto high beam will still work but it’s worth a shot for $1000 savings. I think Dodge should recall this part. It should qualify as a safety issue.
You’re 100% right. Dodge should definitely do something about it. Or at least have covered under some type of warranty through mopar. I’m pretty sure all of is mopar owners are on the same page as you. I bought a used oem headlight off eBay for $500 that matches matches my Durango. If the after market part matches the oem model number you should be fine when it comes to the self level and auto beam.
@HansTheCreator I'll let you (and everyone else reading this in the future) know if it works. Thanks for posting this dude.
@@HansRT mine didn't work out. As you know there are 2 plugs on the housing, a big one and a small one. The small one was a different configuration. The 4 pins were slightly off-center in the OEM plug and the one I got on ebay were centered. Also the stock bulb housing has AML 5 on it...the new one I got has AML 4. So I had to put it back together with the old light. Bummer.
@davidgunther1282 let all of us report this to BBB and keep recored of it. So we can get dodge attention it not fair.
So strange that its always the driver's side. Mine just went out also at 59k on my 2021. Was thinking no way it could be the light and figured it was wiring, but this changed my mind. Anyone have a passenger side issue?
Gotta love the Dodge Engineering…
A man has to just about completely disassemble his car,
Remove front bumper,
Qtr panel trim, wheel shrouds, all kinds other dissembling just to replace a headlight,
Then he can’t just replace a bulb or the problem part,
Gotta replace the entire assembly.
Extremely poor design,
A 5-10 min job turns into 2 hours,
Now that’s efficiency!😒🤯
Just happened to mine too 21 DD RT , purchased a used one from eBay, , thanks for the video, but you really did not show us much here,. in terms of how to actually take it apart.
How do you remove the rivets? I have to replace my headlight
I have the same problem, it's always the driver beside that goes out that's the issue as well. And I'm about to order mine from eBay too and I turned my daylight off as well. Because it was getting on my nerves the way it looked and I'm going to keep them off once I get it fixed .
So you have to replace the entire headlight not just the running light?
Yes. I just took mine to the dealership, and ofcourse it's out of warranty, and the extended warranty doesn't cover it. Over 45k miles. Driver side. Quoted $1,400
@@JessicaSilva-qk6vc I called my dealer. Thankfully mine is covered
@tiffanyrock1185 Oh, that's so good. I want to take mine elsewhere for a second opinion.
Mine and signal is out on my 2021 Durango.
My 2021 Durango led strip works, but the turn signal doesn't and it flickers fast. Also displays the turn signal out on the dash. Would it be the whole headlight fixture or a bulb?
the amber doesn't work forgot to add
Exact same issue with driver side blinker on mine. 21 Durango R/T TnG. Asked friend who used to run Dealership and he said entire headlight has to be changed as shown in video, unfortunately. Just received mine ordered online and getting ready to take apart front end.
This just happened to me also. There is no light bulb on this model of headlight. We are gonna have to replace the entire assembly.
Yeah Had to replace the whole assembly
Thanks for the video. I have the same issue with my 2021 Durango can you link the eBay seller you got your headlight from?

Same problem with my 21 RT . They told me $1496 .. I’m just gonna get the aftermarket color changing LED lights for $300 and call it a day if it’s not the fuse
Were you able to remove and reinstall all of the screws or plastic rivets? Did you have to cut or break any of the plastic fasteners? If so what did you replace them with. Thank you so much have the same truck in the same problem good job looks mint.
Thank you 🫡
Yes I was able to reinstall all the metal screws and some of the plastic fasteners and got new ones to replace the ones that broke. The plastic rivets that are on the driver and passenger side wheel flare I had to cut. I then replaced them with the new plastic rivets I bought from harbor freight and clipped a small part the rivet that sticks out. This is what I used for new rivets:
PITTSBURGH 7 in. Poly Hand Riveter Kit - Item 97757 hftools.com/app97757
PITTSBURGH Automotive Plastic Fastener Kit, 240 Piece - Item 57671 hftools.com/app57671
Hopefully this helps 🙏🏽
Hey, those plastic rivets up top, right under the hood, do they just pop out and back in again or did you have to cut those too?
The plastic rivets under the hood pop out but some of them break off once you pop them out. So I bought some extras just in case
is that the only way to do it? By taking the whole bumper off? Is there a way to just replace the bulb itself for the led strip?
Thanks for the reply.
How do I adjust these specific lights?
Thanks for posting!
Can you drop a link on the tools needed for this project and where you got your headlights from? I have the exact same situation right now. Thx!

The headlight I got from eBay. Just make sure it fits your car accordingly or you can buy it from Dodge. It all depends on which Durango trim you have and what year. I went to my Dodge dealership and gave them my VIN number. I asked for the headlamp assembly part number. For example the part number for my 2021 Durango RT tow n’ Go is 68433785AE. If you need more help just let me know. I hope this can help you out. Best of luck you got this !!
@HansTheCreator Man, thank you! I'll go get the tools tomorrow. You could always come to Dallas and do it for me lol!!!
@@allmoneyin8583 😂😂 Anytime
How much was the light? I have two buy both sides. 😢
@@joshparker2903 I bought a used one OEM on eBay for $585. Brand new from the dealer is going to be over $1000
My amber LED turn signal on the driver's side just stopped working. Im gonna have to do this soon. Thanks for the video. Definitely gonna help me out.
Mine too but i think you can change the bulb
I need to replace my headlight on my 2021 Durango. Should I go with oem or aftermarket such as eagle eyes?
To be honest I would go OEM. I know the eagle eye is more affordable than OEM.
I have the same issue but it’s only the white light , when I use the turn signal or hazards lights the orange light works, you think I have to change the whole headlight as well. ?
Sounds like the same issue I was having with my headlight. The white led strip in the headlight stopped working and the amber led strip and HID lights worked perfectly fine. I’m no mechanic but I’m pretty sure it’s not a blown fuse in my opinion. You can get it diagnosed with a dodge dealership and see what they tell you. Or find a good / great used OEM headlight on eBay like I did and replace it yourself and save some money.
Tires are almost worn out. How many miles on them?
No I got these tires in April 2023. It’s because of the mud that they look worn out
I love your voice 😻
😉
Can you just turn off the running lights period? The Dodge dealership qutoed me $1,400 plus labor this is ridiculous!!😡😡🤬😡 Thanks for the video💯
@@bobt7315 Reason why I had to make a video on how to replace a headlight on a newer Durango. It’s insane what the dealership is asking for. Might as well do it ourselves and save some money.
