Thanks! I just wrapped a headlight on my speed triple with the help of your video 👍 Had I not watched it I probably would've never realized that there was an additional top film that needed to be peeled off when complete! 😂

Good video again Tony. Thank you.
One difference that I learned doing my headlight was with the use of window cleaner sprayed on the headlight glass as well as the back of the tint after removing the (inside) protective film. With a fine mist sprayed on, the film easily slides into position and the same use of the mini squeegee and dryer pushes both air bubbles and moisture out while the dryer stretches the film tight and evaporates the moisture. Spray is used also on the outer film so the squeegee slides easily as well. Everything else was done as you described. The spray seems to make it go a bit smoother and makes corrections easy. Maybe give it a go next time and let me know if it works better for you or not.. 🙏🙂

I did this on my 06 Ural Tourist. It was easy, sometimes a little frustrating with bubbles but not bad. Only real pain in the butt I had is my headlight glass is not totally flat. There were three nipples located at 12, 4 and 8. Not sure why they are there, but I had use an X-Acto to pop small holes in the material so the nipples would pop through. I would try it again after more miles of riding.

Many years ago here in the US you could buy sealed yellow sealed beam headlights. The tint was in the glass and not just an applied coloured sheet of plastic. Because your lighting laws state that headlights can be yellow or white at some time in the past yellow headlights were also available in the UK.

A quick question for you or any followers....once tint applied has anyone cut round the Triumph logo triangle in the centre and removed that piece to keep this nice feature untinted and white (clear) whilst the area surrounding remains tinted? This my plan. Just 2 concerns that 1. I'll need to be careful with the craft/Stanley knife to ensure I don't scratch/compromise the glass as I cut out, risky? and 2. might there be risk of shrinkage/distortion of tint film away from the cut out area with time? I'm guessing it will be ok (and if not I'll just do again and leave it complete as done above)...

Totally legal here in the UK. I checked with the lighting requirements with UK Legislation and Regulation 18 (vehicle lighting) section schedule 5 part 7 says ‘white or yellow beam’.
I actually want to paint the silver reflector on my Triumph Bobber but the headlamp is a sealed unit. Is it sealed with silicone sealant or is it glued in? Somehow I need to separate the headlight glass lens from the grey plastic headlight. Any ideas Tony?

Hi Clive, it looks like a sealed unit, and I don’t know how easy it would be to separate. I suspect from looking at it that the plastic would be likely to break as it appears to be glued? Generally sealed beams aren’t designed to be dismantled. A film over the top may end up being the easiest option

Incidentally, to all the other replies I’ve read on here: a headlamp can be yellow or white! It is totally legal. Regulation 18, schedule 5, part 1 (subsection 7) of the Vehicle Legislation Act 1989.

So of course like all jobs this was never going to be as straightforward as hoped...has anyone else looking to do this also got their bike data-tagged?! It’s somehow attached internally at the top so I can’t remove the bezel (or something is) Obviously I don’t want to force it and risk disconnecting whatever in there or damage the electrics. Anyone else with a Datatag worked out how to disengage it from the headlight?! #ineedamancave #summerjobs #nosuchthingaseasy

I assume you have the Datatag system with a transponder rather than just the microdot version that the bikes are sold with. If they can reassmble the headlight bezel with it in place, you should be able to remove it?

@@mancavemoto Many thanks for the helpful suggestion. I honestly don't know. I'm getting the bike serviced at Triumph London on 16th December and as they fitting the grill to the headlight I'll leave them to take it off and then see what's going on underneath and why/how it attached at the top. My plan was to have the tint applied prior to this but I'll do after now once this latest issue resolved. Thanks for the help.
