    Im definitly going to get it this summer, it will be my first non 28mm army
    Im really exited about it and plan to get a lot more of cavalry in the long run and also get a batallia of infantry cut the musket wings to model 3 tercios etc
    Also agree with the cavalry making them deeper migth be nice and better look maybe as the arquebusiers come in groups of 15 do 3 ranks of 5? maybe thats too deep but i think it can look quite nice

    • @MillersMiniatures
      @MillersMiniatures  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's cool mate. I like the idea of the 3 rows of muskets but only issue would be that you wouldn't have enough for all the pike blocks to have the same amount of muskets unless you obviously make the pike blocks bigger. And you may find it hard to cut the musketeers stuips down without damaging the sculpts. But would be cool to see what people do get up too with them. 😁👍

    In real life, would there have been a gap between men, or would they have been stood with shoulders touching? I'm undecided on the look at the moment.... Great video though, great to see a finished unit 🙂👍😎

    • @MillersMiniatures
      @MillersMiniatures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers mate, Glad you like them. The pike men would have been tightly packed as they would have needed to form a defensive wall of pikes should the need arise so the fact these are so close together (due to the way they have cast/designed these) works. Arguably the musketeers wouldn't have been as tightly packed as they have made them as well drilled musketeers would be training to March to the back of the musket blocks between the men so they could reload by the time that they had filtered through to the front again they should have had enough time to reload. So yer the musketeers would have been in a looser formation. however for the needs of the way they cast these its something that can easily looked past especially when thier actually on the table in the midst of a game. 😁👍

    Finally the figures painted. This is a worthwhile review. Silly bases! How many will you do James before you get them the wrong way round. A good idea copying the others with 15mm flags. Would not the muskets also have colours? Did you undercoat? What colour?
    I am not going to get any of these figures, i have enough 15mm already painted for the table.
    Leon's painting review is well worth a look, he has a base for his pikes that helps to protect them and keep the units apart.
    Well done James, so you'll be selling your 28mm collection.

    • @rovens
      @rovens ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure if this is a poor attempt at humour or just a really condescending comment? Why would someone have to sell their 28mm if they buy the warlord epic stuff?

    • @rovens
      @rovens ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why are the bases silly? It's not beyond the wit of man to put an arrow facing the front of the bases before you start basing your troops up

    • @MillersMiniatures
      @MillersMiniatures  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not to sure what you mean about copying everyone's else Leslie. And I have seen Leon's video mate. I even mention it twice in the this review?
      As for the colours in the musketeers, they wouldn't have them in the combines pike and shotte units as they would be in the pike blocks for protection and also it would be I'll advised to of had flags flying around lite match coed as their would be a risk of them catching fire. A very embarrassing affair if you set your own colour alight.

    • @suburbiapheonix7960
      @suburbiapheonix7960 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't show it on the video but the bases from BigRedBat come marked to ensure you don't make mistakes. I would like to enquire what size bases you used here Mr Miller as I found your display looks more satisfying than the bases with the troops.

  • @paulspaintshed3511

    Great paint job mate and the flags look better as they should be a focal point of the unit. While these are much better than the Naps and ACW I'm still on the fence about the whole aesthetic. I think problem is everyone's army will look the same unless you follow Leon's idea of adding in Peter Pig minis which look almost spot on. I was at Hammerhead at the weekend and Warlord put on a demo table showing a Napoleonic battle using the epic stuff and it looked a bit soulless in fact the paper soldiers game 2 tables away looked better. I want to do a pike and shotte army after watching the battle reports you did with Martin, which are great by the way, but might stick with 28mm.

    • @MillersMiniatures
      @MillersMiniatures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers paul. Yer I fully understand what you mean mate Leon's unit looks great and I agree that some other fingers mixed in with the units would definitely give them some more flavour. But these units are great for breaking the back of the main army. The cost of the same amount of figures in a metal range like Peter pig or steel fist (bother perfect scale for these ) would be astronomical. So I'll definitely be getting some of both those ranges to pack out the units. But at the end of the day you still won't beat a 28mm army.

    • @MillersMiniatures
      @MillersMiniatures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also fully agree with both the Naps and ACW in the range don't have much to them. Bit static

    • @paulspaintshed3511
      @paulspaintshed3511 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll be interesting to see what you do with them mate. It might push me over the edge and give them a go. Totally agree about the cost and like I say the actual individual minis are great it's just the static nature of the pose. Keep them coming mate. While I think about it how much table space does the 3 base unit take up? If I remember the naps were almost the same footprint as Leon's 28mm army so a comparison for the standard 6x4 table would be helpful.

    • @MillersMiniatures
      @MillersMiniatures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Paul's Paint Shed so they fit perfectly on 60 x 40mm bases so if your using them as 1 units it takes up 180mm. A standard unit in of pike in 28mm takes up 80mm so they fit perfectly. Like I said in the video tho the cavalry take up the same space so I'm looking to do them maybe 2 60mm bases wide rather than the 3 so they will be 120mm but deeper 2 lines maybe and just make them mool more dynamic
