- Remember Zoltar-the fortune-telling machine from the movie “Big”? Well there are hundreds of Zoltar machines across the country, but only one shop that makes them. Olaf Stanton and his team at Characters Unlimited build every Zoltar by hand out of their studio in Boulder City, Nevada. Here's how the magic comes together.

I just visited my first Zoltar. I always wanted to try one out for fun and it was. I love anything that keeps my inner child alive and well. Thank you to the makers ❤
Once, instead of putting money into one of those machines, I kicked it. The machine then spit out a card. The card said "Ouch!"

I miss these fortuneteller machines. When I was a kid, I used to see them everywhere- in shopping centers, department stores, county fairs and drug stores. My favorite was the Gypsy Woman fortuneteller machine. It costed 15¢ which was a lot of money in the 1970s because a Charms Blow-Pop was 10¢.

Chicago and Wildwood New Jersey still have a few left. I remember the two for a Penny candies and if you had a dollar you were able to walk out of the Five and Dime store with a full bag. Oh and gas was a quarter a gallon!

My father has wanted a zoltar machine since he first watched that movie and ive got around $2k saved up so far, ive been going for years trying to save up the money to get him one and I won't stop until I do, one day I hope I can surprise him with a real machine

I live in the UK and he's literally almost in every amusements in any seaside town.
My dad sometimes says to me what would you like to get if we ever win the lottery and I said I'd have my own Zoltar machine.
Never ask Zoltar if there is anything you can do for him or ask Zoltar to shake your hand.
I saw one in oregon as a kid and it spooked the shit out of me as a kid. not so spooky now, but as a kid i think it was one of the uncanny human like things i ever saw

I swear to God, Monterey Bay has at least ONE of those fortune teller machines in front of every notable store. Not that I'm complaining though. I got a nostalgia for these things.

I remember seeing one in the mall in the food court back by the bathrooms in the early 90s and that one I could swear was one you don't see anywhere not even when you Google them. Only the newer ones come up. Always loved these things but over 8k is alot to be asking.
