I don't really see how it's phenomenal all he did was basically do it in the same style and even tried The Sandlot her and it just comes out as it kind of a generic we cover in my opinion and nothing special. He didn't bring his own flavor to it or arrange it differently or anything really just sounds like some guy sitting around at a party covering the song sorta. It's a decent straight up cover and like I said I like Luke Combs it's just nothing special and definitely not a great Recreation

Luke sounds great singing Fast Car. This song suits him. I heard it on the radio, and it wasn't a country station. It's nice to hear Fast Car again, in 2023.

I think the "checkout girl " line adds to his sense of feeling emasculated. "My dreams aren't going anywhere,I'm stuck I this small town, doing a job normally reserved for women- a checkout girl." It adds another dimension to the song. "Checkout boy" would've worked too, but the original line sung by a man makes it all the more powerful, to me.

No need, it's not a gender based song, it's about what people go through. I have Tracy's original recording.
