These disassembly videos are really helpful and even relaxing too. Thank you for what you do. I’m a little obsessed with certain tools and your videos are a calming touchstone.
Thanks for the video. I was about to take my thumb stud Rockwell apart to clean. That would have been a mistake. I would be sending the knife back to Tactile for replacement ball bearings.
It is interesting to hear comments about gritty actions and shavings and no threadlock. I think it is very cool this is made in USA, but for $300 it should be perfect out of the box.
Thank you for this very helpful video. I just received my new Rockwall thumb stud two days ago and my excitement was tempered with some disappointment with the action being gritty and dry feeling. Upon watching your video and with thoughts of finding metal bits, I disassembled mine to find indentations from the pivot balls into the titanium collars on both sides. At least no unnecessary metal but was also absent lubrication which I added for little to no effect. I assume that it was overtightened on the original assembly. I will be contacting Tactile Turn to see if they have a pleasant resolution..
@@BaldwinGTi They sent me a return shipping label right after I emailed about the knife. Yesterday, 4/26/22 they responded that a refund was being issued. There was no comment about the issue.
I agree disassembling, cleaning, lubricating, and reassembling is very therapeutic. One question. You mention the 242 thread lock. Do you mean the 248 medium?
Anyone else find a ridiculous amount of metal shavings after taking it apart? I had a ton of shavings gunked in the liner and that detent groove. After cleaning and reassembling, it’s 100% my favorite knife though. Just disappointed on the QA as this is my second issue from tactile knife co.
Mine has a blunt tip, bit of a dull blade and grindy action. Because of the blunt tip I will not keep it or adjust anything. I love the look and feel and the snappyness but I will replace or return it, whatever my dealer prefers. Bummer.
when I heard about this single cutout in the review I was intrigued, thought it might be some innovative geometry, but then I see in this video it is still just 2 holes ..
Every time I see something like that mess of threadlocker I always wonder what percentage of these higher end knives ever get disassembled after leaving the factory. I bet no more than 30%. I bet around 60% just get thrown in a pelican case and rarely handled. Completely fine for knives like this, infuriating for knives that only a few dozen of exist and you're trying to find one (to put in your own pelican case and rarely handle, ofc)
I'm really not sure why anyone would buy this knife when they could just spend 1/5th as much on a Kizer Begleiter 2 with better action (and subjectively better looks).
@@DanielTorres562 l agree. l’m not really sure why people say such silly things. Maybe to rationalize there own budget retraints….who knows? lts 5x the knife, so its worth it!
HOPE YOUR WEEK GETS BETTER
I actually bought this one upon your recommendation Nick. It is a nice piece. Thanks for the video.

Relaxing for me too. Have a great day Nick.
I picked up this knife on the secondary market and was glad to see it is easy to service. Thanks for the video... 😃👍
Thanks Shabazz for the teardown/reass'y. The Tactiles look great 👍
An absolute gem!

Any update? I have one sitting in my knifecenter shopping cart waiting for me to pull the trigger.

@@2cucucachu Nice, that's good to hear they are issuing a refund. Are you going to buy another one?
Chin up Nick, have a good day
I posted a break down video of this knife recently as well. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find the caged bearings vs the loose ones.

Are those ceramic bearings running raw on titanium?!?
Day one of requesting lbh to return.
Since you disassemble so many knives you could measure the bearing size for Skiff or the community.
I assume that liner lock screw is stripped for a reason?

"gonna go ahead and yeet this across the room..." 😆
Anyone know where I can get a replacement of those t8 screws I lost one

Mine had no thread locker. The pivot thread hole was filled with a red oily liquid. Assemble by Holly
Threads on the fasteners are coarse. I wonder how it affects their longevity.
I'm a knife user and my knives need cleaning. Say I drop my knife in the mud. Is taking the lock bar off a no-no?
🎶A whole new world!🎶
interesting caged bearings vs free - as is with the flipper….

Exxon Shabazz strikes again!
Great name for an oil tanker.

As an owner of both of these knives, I find this comment silly.

EM wire cut masterpiece. Finest quality machining. TIGHT tolerances. Rather expensive though....
