    This is my first year shooting USPSA, and I'm looking for a timer to practice with. Both videos are very helpful. Thank you.

    The only problem with the Kestrel is it doesn’t talk to PractiScore yet, but it’s so much better for just about everything else than anything else I’ve used, including the AMG.

    Shoters Global just release the SG Timer Go witch apparently has a louder beep and is less expensive

    Have you tried the CED7000? Seems to be really easy to use and hassle free. I've seen several at my local club and people seem to like them. I'm considering getting one.

    So many folks recommending AMG don't mention three very important things. The customer support is non existent literally, there is a 9+ month wait and Practiscore has announced it will update eventually for it to be compatible with other shot timers.
    I tried them all even waiting the 9+ month wait for the AMG and it doesn't even remotely hold a candle to this kestrel offering outside of communication with Practiscore. The ONLY positive thing about AMG is resold it for nearly 100 more than I paid for it.

    Why not the Pact III? Great for groups or single training. It's the loudest buzzer in my opinion on the market. Once you learn how to change stuff with the buttons its very fast.

    Does it reliably pick up suppressed shots? I’d also be interested in if the shooters global timer does as it advertises.

    • @RetreatHell
      @RetreatHell ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, because you can fine tune the sensitivity to infinity pretty much. It has preset sensitivity modes for suppressed and dry fire (and pistol, rifle and .22lr), but then you can go in and fine tune the sensitivity within those presets. Like VERY fine or gross adjustments. Low numbers are more sensitive, high numbers are less sensitive (took me a bit to figure that out lol)

      @swiftaudi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ERIKMMT I have one and my only really issue is the No dedicated go button. The clip only holds well on thick belts also. Also it needs tuned to pick up shots accurately but that’s no issue because tuning it is easy. I do miss the top screen as well but the magnet feature is nice and it does qi charging which is nice.

    • @John1911
      @John1911 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have the Global Timer and think it’s pretty slick. But the quiet beep is a huge miss.
      We’ve brought it up with SG and they were aware of it. Also claim to be addressing it. But I suspect the only way is a physical hardware upgrade. Which would mean a gen 2 model.

      I have one of the SG timers. Bought it through MDT when they were partnering with SG on it. Was at the range today and dropped the SG timer from waist level. The dang thing broke. I was flabbergasted. A 2 or 3’ fall onto soft dirt, and the thing broke. Not a single mark on the plastic case. But something about the mild shock of the drop broke the stupid thing’s electronic brain. If you are in the market for a timer, I’d steer clear of the SG. Really fragile. Or, at least mine was. Think this Kestrel timer is in my future.

    So why not the PACT?

    • @John1911
      @John1911 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ran a PACT for close to 15 years. Fundamentally the design is being left behind by modern screened timers.
      Meaning the display is so small that making adjustments or reading data beyond the current screen is not intuitive.
      Modern timers allow a shooter to see six shots with splits at a glance. The Pact timer operates like an X-Box controller inputting a cheat code.
      Additionally my Pact timer doesn’t allow for sensitivity adjustments for such things as suppressed rifles.
