How To Play Bunker Comp - Pro Overwatch Analysis

- GOATS may have still managed to persevere as the pervasive compositions for most Overwatch League teams, especially when it comes to escorting a payload, but over the last few weeks, there has been some strategic innovation across the board as teams learn to make use of Baptiste.
On certain maps, a new type of strategy making use of the latest hero to join the game in conjunction with the likes of Bastion and Orisa has come into popularity as a tactic for point defense.
In today's video, we take a look at examples of the Baptiste Bunker comp from the Overwatch League and break it down so you can give it a go yourself.

This is so strong in regular comp games unless you can get your team to communicate well to beat it 😭

Kyle Kafka No, not necessarily, but in comparison to the views he could be getting from player other games they’re lower, especially because Overwatch isn’t as popular as it used to be. It wasn’t an attack, it was an encouragement.

I just felt these were quite solid numbers already. The content's good, he deserves it.
I've seen this in QP, and one thing I noticed that this comp. is really critical of, is positioning.
One very great example is on Lunar. They are usually set up on top of the objective in the center, sometimes on the corners.
Pharah is usually my pick against these, because especially on that map, you can concussion blast A LOT of their comp. away from the bastion, or just plain knock them off the platform.
Knocking them off the platform is an INSTANT way to destroy the shield, and perhaps kill bastion altogether.
Another big thing is Mei.
If you catch them with poor positioning, you can easily burst Bastion when he's in turret mode by lifting him up with the icewall.
So yeah, that's my 1 hero counter since it's QP, and you can't really expect good coordination.
Bonus would be symmetra- either cheese them with the turrets, or TP your team to a good spot to counter the positioning of their team.
That one dislike is the OWL trying to slow you down

JustStevo teleports the team UNDER the bunker and charges his laser on the shield from underneath. He usually has a Orisa with him that yanks the team off the top and they clean up kills from there. I really like the Symetra flying bunker comp (aka east coast special) but it takes a player comfortable with her to set up the plays 😉
Amazing video. I learned quite a lot in a pretty short and concise video, unlike most huge game analysis that sure, teach you a lot, but they can also bore you a lot and take too much of your time. This format is great, your insight is pretty good and the quality of the video is amazing. Hoping to see more of this style!

with bunker comp zarya plays really well with it my esport team (we are a highschool team) uses it regulary and have had great success with it as we have won every match but 1 with this comp
4.29: First, even if the Immortality Field could be damaged by a dragonstrike in general, which it cannot, the dragonstrike would just passed the wall and destroyed the field. But it was still a good tactic by Defiant to protect the Immortality Drone from enemy fire.

Honestly, baptist’s kit is pretty powerful when you look at it, almost or on par with Brigitte when she was first released
1. A high damage gun, a little hard to use
2. Splash heal grenades. Basically a side grade to ana’s nades with more active healing but no buffs/debuffs or damage to enemies
3. Jumps allow him to sometimes get to high ground faster
4. Shift is a bootleg zen ult, which is pretty good for playing agressive
5. [E] is a bootleg lucio ult, which no one can complain about for saving teammates, countering ults and playing on the defensive in general

This video was amazing but there was a tiny mistake saying that the immortality field could be damaged by the dragonstrike and that it was placed strategically to avoid the ds
Despite what other people said about this meta. I love it.
This is when I started getting into competitive and realizing my tracking with bastion is godlike (I'm on console so thats probably why)
Everything just fit together so perfectly it just clicked with me. That was the time I actually had fun in competitive.
Can you do the evolution on more characters. Its very interesting
This comp is called the BOB (Name by Shaytwan french caster) Bastion - Orisa - Baptiste
Include Mercy and it'll be called BOMB
Florida, Washington, Paris and Toronto. That's some quality.

symmetra and junkrat seem like a great counter to the bunker, I have curiosity to see how it would work without a dva, a road hog instead, because he can pull any player in meaning instant death by bastion, as well take care of flankers, a Zaria would probably counter the hooks but by the time they’re running away they wouldn’t make it

I haven’t played with or against bunker yet but it seems fairly balanced compared to goats comp

Dragonstrike's dragons don't deal damage to his Immortality Field.
In France, the french casters have decided to call this comp a B.O.B for Baptiste Orisa Bastion. You can switch the name along the comp, like a BOB with a torb, it's became a swedish BOB. With Sombra along those three heroes, it's became BOB with a hat (you know, cause she's mexican). and so on
Am I the only paladins player here that hasn't even played ow yet but enjoys these video for some reason? Idk maybe it's his voice especially when he explains things (I don't even understand anything but its entertaining lmao)

yes, symm for the mobility and shield destruction, junkrat for the insane amount of damage, and sombra cause the whole bunker comp becomes useless once she EMP's.

@@xloltimex38 I mean she's slow in invis you gain like 10% speed, wich means nothing. I'm fine with destroyable tp cause you can flank with it, and there's no one campig your beacon. She gets killed by mcree when invisible btw. But she wrecks noobs in low elos though. And she's gonna be so useful with this meta, finally some utility to her.

@@xloltimex38 I mean stupid sombras would've been camped, the ones who throw their beacon right on top of the health pack, sombra became more of an oppurtunist than a real dps, she cannot finish some of the heroes by her self like moira or tanks in high elos, below gold she's a cancer.
Most viewers want dive comp where dps like genji widow maker and tracer was meta.
How do you counter Bastion Bunker on Payload maps as we can't force rotation bcoz of well a payload

My ideal bunker is a bastion, Orissa, Baptiste, Lucio, Winston and roadhog/reaper
How i counter bunker:
1) use zarya bubble with ultimate ready, and bubble hanzo with ultimate ( use ultimate on bunker close by)
2) use zarya ultimate on fleeing enemies
3) dive with D.va,
4) finish all enemies
I like the custom team color/skins. It's a shame so many teams seem to have mostly white as their color.

Reasons, why we run this, is because it seems to cover the main issue with bunker. 76 can counter pharah and ward off most flankers. Mery for power Bastion and revives. Torb or Sym for covering flank spots, covering fire and for zone locks. You know the reasons for the last three ao no point in explaining.
what would this composition look like with Ana's Nano boost

This comp is so easy to play its dominating all of my games in silver, the orisa/bastion was already strong, and baptiste made it that much stronger
The goats never hit below diamond but everybody from silver and up is using orisa bastion and baptiste cause they don't require a lot of skill and teamwork to pull off and are hitscan whereas goats was very close range, and you had to hink how you going to get the hitscan hero and required a lot of teamplay and as a result weren't used in casual elos.

I wish my team as smart as the gameplay of the Chengou Hunters. Seriously they all wait not not a poke and say “I’m getting ult charge” and “I’m trying to get a pick. They also have great positioning. Staying behind a wall?! Never seen that before it gold! All they do is don’t say in cover and go in front of the Bastion like it’s some tea party!!! Gosh I need better team mates!

That’s what Orissa/Sigma is for ( and rein is a completely garbage hero if you use him only for shield, so he would suck in this situation)

Can we just appreciate the fact that goats is no longer the must pick for all maps now? I know bunker is more boring but at least we are getting diversity. We now have some rock-paper-scissors going and even sym is played in owl I mean what?
I don't really want to improve bunker too much as there is actually a variety of it instead of the same old heroes in goats but does anyone remember when stevo came out with the orisa, bastion, sym comp and it bet goats? Sym could actually be useful in bunker as well (if you know how to play her because I notice that owl players are a bit sloppy on sym mainly due to the fact that she's hardly picked by them).

As you said, yes. We are getting diversity, but isn't exactly to much. Before Baptiste, the meta was just goats. Just play goats in every map, and that's all.
Now, you play goats, and in certain maps when orisa can be useful, you play bunker. It's good, yyou can play 2 characters instead of one, but overall, the change is not that much useful
This comp will be even more annoying to watch than goats, it lacks so much movement. but the one that the hunters use was so entertaining to watch.
A cancer comp is never a better thing then a boring comp.

Why don’t they use Roadhog as the second tank for bunker? Orisa and Roadhog is like the strongest pairing in the game rn.
