@anasnaknota Actually it wasn't as warm as you'd think. We were going through a mini-ice age at the time. The temperatures were 15 to 20 degrees cooler than what we consider normal today. AND... that's why they wore linen undergarments (long shirts/possibly bloomers). Any body sweat and body oil seeped into the linen rather than the clothes, therefore preserving the outer garments.
Louie the 14th was a better king in my opinion. He encourage everyone to dress their best regardless of their class in france. And he didn't kill his wife.
He left his country in a DIRE FINANCIAL MESS. 2 generations later they were gone. Louis xiv was an egomaniacal fuckup. Taking his court out of Paris and away from the heart of the people was one of the dumbest moves any king could ever make. He and the aristocracy lived in a fantasy bubble and his heirs had no idea wtf was actually going on down on the ground until the peasants marched on Versailles in 1789. Think of how dumb it would be for the British royals to abandon London and go live in their own private fairytale, well, that is what Louis did. He was a dumbass.
Love ❤️ 😍 😊 this. I watch it all the time. I mean the clothes he wore were truly magnificent. But what exactly did Henry VIII 🤔 wore when he came to the throne of England 🇬🇧 in 1509 when he was young, when he was in his youth 🤔 I wish someone would post that.
It would be really nice if this video could be re-uploaded in HD. 240p is just too fuzzy to appreciate any of the detail in what may (but how would I know?) have been a very good replica dress.
I've always been intrigued about Henry's clothes final destiny. I've read here and there that sadly none of his original clothes survived the time, yet I wonder whether this is totally true, I find it hard to believe though, given the so extensive wardrobe he enjoyed in life. I've never come across any king's clothes exhibit, I would really love to.
@Darthbelal I make the Tudor ladies gown and yes its a chore to go to the bathroom, let alone get into a bathroom stall with a wide skirt on. Though you don't get chilly, which is good because I am always cold. Guess I have the perfect body temperature for it all.
If only they had the much more simpler clothes of today back then, they could have saved lots of time which could have been used to do a lot of things given their shorter longevity.
I love the I'm going to give these products a сhаnсe to wooork their maaaagic on me. I've tried evеrything out thеre and so far nothing has been good enough to hеlp me. Check out it there twitter.com/380ae3e0665a7c714/status/788632172043366400 Clothing in Henry VIII s Tudor EEEEngland

@jazusa03 that's why during his later years...he suffered from chronic constipation..it could be that having 2 choose from going to the loo and not taking those clothes off, he took the second option.
He would have been a big DISAPPOINTMENT to u. His wives on the other hand would have had some stories to tell, they by far would have been more interesting. Henry was an immature brat, & that's ALL he was.
@jazusa03 Well he had to have someone help him get redressed if he needed to poop, the pants lace up to the vest so its does untie and would take time to undo. The codpiece the part that looks like a large you know waht was able to unlaced quickly to go pee. This was the time before zippers and buttons for that matter.
Wearing clothes that were legal only for the king would have gotten you charged with treason. The reason is that in that time, taking royal privileges was a clear statement (think flashing neon sign) that you thought you should be king. Publicly wearing kingly garments meant that you had, or were trying to gain, the support of the people in your bid to replace the king. At that time, courtiers, nobles and rich commoners at the kings court, would try to suck up to the king by imitating him or favoring things he liked, but had to be careful that their imitation didn’t mock the king or bring suspicion that they were trying to usurp the king. Because Henry VIII kept flipping religions every time he got remarried and would persecute people on the wrong side, he had a lot of enemies, more than kings usually do. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was known for fits of rage and paranoia, including physically attacking friends and staff. Any act that could possibly be seen as treasonous, even when ridiculously stretched, could incite the wrath of the king and result in torture and/or execution. So to answer your question, yes the fashion police really would throw you in jail.
I dont know why the english make su much fuss of Henry VIII, he was a second rate King, nothing compared with Charles V, the Emperor, King of Spain and lord of the new world.
In his youth he was the handsomest most erudite king in Europe, and the most friendly and openhanded. His councilors had to stop him giving away gifts, titles, lands and money so freely and granting any favors asked. His first few years were a golden age, but that all changed later.

This was a really good video. So many (including myself) pay attention to what the queens wore, but the king's wardrobe is equally fascinating! Thnx
So interesting. I wish the video is longer. Really enjoyed it.

Henry lavished ALL his queens with fine clothing. He would LOVE going to the mall and buying our modern fashions for them.
:)
As opposed to his father, the tightwad Henry VII, who shopped at JC Penny's.
@@MFPhoto1 Yup!
@@MFPhoto1 😂😂😂😂
On weekends, Hank just liked to kick back in a pair of Dockers and loafers.
Henry loved his Dockers and loafers. But they still crusted with diamonds. (Dont call them loafers where he can hear you)

Love this. So cool to see what they looked like and the lives they lived.
Sadly this video is so accurate that they used a camera from Tudor era to shoot the video.
I'd hate to have to go to the privy wearing all of that........
Thank God, clothes became easier to wear so one could go to the toilet without dressing problems from then on.
The King didn't want anyone looking better than him.
Louie the 14th was a better king in my opinion. He encourage everyone to dress their best regardless of their class in france. And he didn't kill his wife.
Encouraged?? If you wanted to have his favour you had better dress as well as he did . His courtiers went broke doing this.

Jason Railson None of his clothes survive because there was a fire in the royal wardrobe.
They could re sew (costume of course for display) from like the paintings we know of him
What is the name of his hat

Imagine having sudden diarrea and having to take all that off?
To have this kind of job on those days maybe was well paid.
Wow. V. interesting. Thanks!
Rachel, if you google the term "mini ice age" or type it in over at wikipedia, you'll be able to find more on the subject.
.....and is there very much in the way of his wardrobe that has survived 'til today?
FAST-ASS GREASY PIG! SALUTATIONS FROM CALIFORNIA, USA!
Is that a onesie??
@jazusa03 that's why during his later years...he suffered from chronic constipation..it could be that having 2 choose from going to the loo and not taking those clothes off, he took the second option.
Also the huge amounts of meat he ate.
12 - 18 - 20
King Henry died at 55 years old
His three children ruled for a total
of 55 years
( IRONIC ? ) ( COINCIDENCE ? )
He also died of syphilis. Ironic? Coincidence?
very interesting .
the best dresser in the world...and also the most arrogant
What about his shoes!
Les 4eme de treillieres vous etes la ?
Not true, of course King Henry wasn't the only person to wear a hat or gold in clothing. I enjoyed this video, just wish everything was factual.
And all those clothes would have stunk of sweat, smoke, grease, probably full of lice too. Cloth of gold doesn’t wash well lol
Interesting but why are royals more important than us
@jazusa03 They invited high colonics for this purpose :D
@jazusa03
Thats the problem; they thought it was good too keep it in...
What if you need to pee
I wish I could have met him + his wives.

Hugly and Killer.
So, at that time, if I´ve dressed up in purple colour. What happen for me. Thrown to jail or beheadedor what?
Probably made to undress yourself on the spot.

Actually. The cod piece was used as a vallet not hold penis in it.
I guess he couldn't dress himself
No one did if they were nobles. That was the point. It said "I'm so rich, I can afford to pay servants to get me dressed every morning."
he would probably sweat a lot during summer wearing all that...
No he would not they wore lighter clothing durin warm season.
arrogance personified.
Well that was very uninformative.
Phillip ll of spain dressed better then him
