Great points. The AmEx MR cards are definitely not for rookies! I recently did my first award bookings using amex MRs for my delta family trip to London & used my amex marriott biz sub pts for weekend roadtrip for my kids. also got an automatic room upgrade thanks to the cards Gold status! very happy!
That is awesome! I'm glad to hear you were able to book your family a trip to London 🙌🏾🏴
I have 4 Amex cards. The Plat, Gold, Green, and Hilton Surpass. Honestly for most people the Green is enough. The gold and plat you really need to have specific situations to fully take advantage of the credits and multipliers.
Also as a mostly domestic and road trip traveler, the Chase UR points with the CSR is soooooooooo much easier. No jumping through a thousand transfer and award flight hoops and limitations. Find the flight or hotel you want, book it for gauranteed 1.5CPP.
The green card is a very underrated card. And I agree that for domestic travel, Chase is probably best for most people.
Solid setup!
Only Amex cards I have interest in are delta cards blue, gold, and platinum or Hilton honors and surpass
So you like a lot of them 😄
Outstanding video. The best content I’ve seen on this topic. Received my first Amex card in 1994.
Thanks!! I'm really glad to know you enjoyed the video 😁
Thanks for cutting through the hype around Amex cards
Definitely a lot of hype. I don't dislike their cards, but they aren't the best cards for most people.
First Amex card was the Gold earlier this year in Jan 👍🏼
I hope it gives you a ton of value 🤑
@@jpknowledge8852 family of 5 but this year has been a lot of SUB hunting building my set up. But definitely have the grocery and dining spend to get good value
The best time to get an AMEX is when you are 18. Having to pay off your CC bill each month instills discipline while also establishing a good credit score. Period.
I think at 18, it could be smart to get a cash back amex card, but most 18 year olds probably wouldn't be the best fit for a amex travel credit card due to (most likely) lack of research into how to redeem the points and the higher annual fees that come with those cards
At the age of 18, no one should be focused on perks but rather learning how to use CCs. Once you are in the AMEX family your “Member Since” remains even when you upgrade. All these credit card companies are doing is enticing people to spend more than they have in order to get “perks.” Learn early. Survive longer. Upgrade when net worth is very positive. Until then, forget the perks and learn discipline.
I have 7 Amex cards & the Chase Sapphire Reserve is better than all of them. US Bank Altitude Reserve is great as well!
The USBAR is definitely a popular one. I may add it into my wallet someday.
1:37 yes… yes I would 😂😂
😂
Great information and I agree 💯 with your point of view. Keep up the great work JP!🫵
Thanks Cesar!! I've always appreciated your support 🙏🏾
