My wife and I are flying Fiji airways from Australia to USA in April next year. Aus to Nadi in economy and Nadi to Lax in business class so we will experience both classes. Looking forward to comparing the two

Recently booked the same flight u toke. ANA first from Ord-Hnd. On the Ana website it says the product will be “the square” Let’s pray for. a last minute product swap😂

Always need to consider the opportunity cost. You could be getting 5% cash back on gas with a CCC or something. If you're putting your gas spend on a VX, that means you are inherently buying C1 points for 2.5cpp. Meaning you need to achieve >2.5cpp redemption just to get ahead, disregarding the flexibility of cash vs hypothetical travel redemption that may or may not meet your expectations. Cash back is definitely better for 90%+ of people.

Great video. Did you do any mattress runs for status or was it all organic travel? Im torn between putting my Hyatt spend on my CSR (for 3x UR and superior travel protections) vs the WOH (4x Hyatt and EQN). Any suggestions?

Great video as always. This new dynamic system really forces us to do our homework to get value. My question is do they still have the bid for an upgrade? If so, has the minimum cost changed? If it’s similar to before buying an economy seat at much lower points and fees then a few more bucks to get into premium or Upper Class. Premium seats look to be much more expensive even on cheap days from LAX.

Just booked two premium economy tickets round trip from Boston to London for my parents for just 27,000 Virgin miles each both ways and under $1,200.00 in total taxes and fees. It would have been over $8,000.00 if booked in cash. Insane value!

Yikes. A redemption I had in mind has gone to up to 168,000 points. Before it was a flat 17500 or so. Now the lowest is at 24000.

Great video! I am also on the west coast and noticed that it now costs more miles to fly business class to Europe but the taxes and fees are lower by several hundred bucks...not a bad trade off! Many families are limited by school schedules so these sweet spots will be tough for a lot of folks (myself included).

I just got one upper class ticket from LHR to ATL for 35k points and £449 for ticket goes around $10.7k on 11th of December 2024, and the economy ticket for 7.5k points and £202 for a ticket goes for $2900 on 5th of December 2024 just in case I want to leave the country earlier than 11th lol 😂 because I have the right to cancel the ticket out of the last 24 hours and I only pay £30 fee for it!

Don’t forget this is a false flag operation. The prices are going to slowly devalue and go up and up until they’re just like Delta.

9,000 miles from LAX to LHR and $79 in taxes is pretty crazy for a 10 hour flight! Maybe it's time for me to visit the UK for the first time

I am curious... Why do some of you reviewers leave home without bathing to then shower in an airport lounge. I find that so disgusting.

I have both the Amex Platinum and the reserve. The best feature about the reserve is the companion ticket in premium, comfort plus and first class and your plus one upgrades with you and reaps all the other travel benefits including lounge access.

If you're on the ink train, 5/24 matters a lot. If you're not, don't worry about 5/24.

Points are great for people who can almost afford these aspirational stays. I'm one of them. I can't quite afford business class and crazy hotels. With my business travel and SUBs, I can easily spend what I would on economy flights and nice hotels and fly business instead of economy and stay at the Park Hyatt vs the Hyatt Regency, which I could easily afford on my own. Instead of paying $5000 for a great vacation, I get an insane vacation. I'm still paying $5000 vs $15,000. For me it's amazing. For most people, you have to put insane effort into making a $15,000 vacation $3000. If you can't afford the $3000 vacation, points are still not great. I don't want to be at the Park Hyatt and flying business but taking public transportation and eating street food.

Thanks JP. this was an excellent video! Lots factors to consider. I agree that CC points do NOT equal Free travel. To me if feels more like "discounted" travel or travel for a reduced price, or travel with perks. Just got back from a family trip to London & used a lot of points & card benefits to cover a many of the expenses, but it still costs money. As Sledge says, "you canT pay for museums, musicals, shows, tours, souvenirs, or snacks, with points!" 😁

Another pet peeve of mine is when influencers value the hotel stay or flight at the cash price they found online - if you wouldn’t have paid $6,000 for the flight, then it’s not worth $6,000. Chances are, if not for the points and miles redemption, you would have booked a less luxurious hotel or an economy seat instead of a business-class seat.

I nearly purchased business class flights to Europe until I did the math and realized I could use those points to stay at much nicer hotels instead. (We were locked into specific dates.) Premium economy for me. 😁

Paris is already booked for my dates next summer!!! I’m really starting to devalue Hyatt with their ending of the SLH partnership… so many more options were available for international travel that you can no longer book.
