Thank you for the great breakdown JP! I really appreciate it! I keep the card for the most part because of the lounge access and the status upgrades for hotels and car rentals. You are right that it’s points earnings blow! Thanks again!
Question on this perk, to me a portion of the FHR perk is a pre-payment incurred through the $695 annual fee. Being a fan of Hyatt, have you tried booking through Hyatt Prive which seems comparable to FHR but doesn’t require a $695 card?
@ryanccc777 I haven't used hyatt Prive personally, but I know people who have were very happy with their stay. I think if you don't have status that it could be the great option for staying at hyatt properties.
I hear you on the Walmart+. I may not use it to the full value, but the savings on gas and the paramount+ subscription it comes with is enough for me to value it at about $8-10 a month
The gas discount can be a good savings. I haven't watched anything on Paramount+ yet. I tried once, but my subscription didn't give me access to watch the movie I selected 🙃
Like you, I get more than $695 in value from the credits, though no doubt I might not have spent with those merchants if I didn't have the credit (i.e. Saks). Great breakdown JP, it'll definitely help people decide what to do with the Amex Platinum given their own circumstances.
I have 4 platinums and don’t think its worth the fee. Only reason i have 4 is because my fee’s are waived. If it wasn’t for that id most likely cancel them all
Smart by you to take full advantage of not having to pay a fee. My brother is in the military, and he isn't interested in getting the card even though it would be free for him as well 🙄🙃
I think all of us started out saying no to AF. I’m 53 and never paid an AF. Well, it took a while but realized the value one can get from cards with AF. Now I have 2 cards and believe I can get value. When that stops they go.
More and more I’m starting to believe the Platinum really isn’t worth it. I’m just getting into the Amex game and I have the Delta reserve now. I was debating if the Platinum was a better but for me I don’t think so. I think my “trifecta” will end up being the Amex Gold and Green to go with my Amex Delta Reserve
I only see the Delta Reserve being worth it over the Amex Platinum if you are going for Delta status. If not, I'm not sure how you will do better with that card over the Amex Platinum.
@@jpknowledge8852 I’m Delta loyalist and yes I did it mostly for Medallion status and upgrades. Otherwise yes I’d get the Platinum. It’s my first time with the card so who knows…I may drop it for the Platinum after this year if it doesn’t work out for me
Nice video JP. I got both the Amex personal platinum and business version for elevated SUB. Will need to decide next year which version I will keep.
I want the business Platinum card, but I don't currently have a way to hit the minimum spend 🤔
@@jpknowledge8852 If you get the business platinum with elevated sub, which version would you keep long term?
I still find the personal more valuable long term for me, but I think it is different for everyone.

Thanks! It is the king of lounge access. If you fly a lot, it is the best card to have on your wallet.
Its pretty difficult to give up on the Amex Plat just from the FHR benefit 🎉
The FHR benefit is super powerful. Very underrated perk.

If the value is there, great! I don’t have the platty yet but for me I thinks it’s gonna be to get the SUB and cancel.
I understand. The sign up bonus SUB is pretty valuable, so definitely don't miss out on that. 🤑

Thanks! The perks are great. Just have to clear that annual fee in value.

@@jpknowledge8852 man he’s missing out on so much but i know ALOT of people in the service that refuse to take advantage of these cards to.

Yep. Good to always see how much value the annual fee cards give you, and if they are costing you, then it is time for them to go ✂️💳

💯💯💯
Delta Reserve that is 😎😎😎
All these CC TH-camrs. 🙄
They yap and yap but they will never cancel the bloody card. Please, spare us.
😂 I'm sorry. I just canceled 2 other cards this week. But they weren't my Amex Platinum card
Easy, cancel the damn card!
😬 I'm keeping it 😂🙃
