This seems to be a common problem on Torqueflites...the video close ups were really well done and helpful

Thank you so much for making such a well detailed video! This very much applies to the 727 & 48RE transmission in the 2003-2009 Dodge Ram trucks as well, although the part# may be different (I doubt it) the procedure is EXACTLY the same! Thank you again. You did an amazing job at showing the procedure!

Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to share. Where did you buy the seal removable tool and what socket did you use to hammer the new seal into place? Thanks.

I upgraded a little bit. I made a pine shape puller that saved me from digging with a screw driver and C shaped rod so i could hit a lower part and upper part pushed a seal in. I couldnt fit a hammer above.

Thanks for posting, too bad that you were turning the extractor the wrong way. My friend has one that he said that I could borrow yet, went to the job with out it. The vehicle was a 1986 dodge D 100 with a 5.2 / 318 cubic inches and didn't have much room. I had to use a small mirror to see what I was doing and that seal was really in there. I tried different methods yet got it out with a old school windshield trim remover that is angled and the tip looks like a pointing arrow like in a direction arrow ⚓like like this but upside down. It was thin enough to get between the rubber and the shaft and finally pryed it out. Got the seal at O'Reilly's. National Oil Seals part # 8609. When you remove the linkage make sure you clean the seal area well before removal. I hope that this helps anyone who has to do this task.

Yes it did. However once you are under there, it’s a good idea to change all seals.

@@Ken_Sweden 4 sure, I'm lucky as mine is in 1955 dodge truck, removable floor pan directly over trans.

@@TheFlat6, You are so lucky. I had to do this on a 1986 Dodge pickup(D100) with zero room and a mirror in the grass on my back without a jack. At one point I thought that I would have to remove the exhaust to get the cross member out to give me some more room to work. See my comment. I will check out your channel as I would love to see your ride. 👍

...but if it's leaking that bad you may need to change this one as well, its sitting under a clip you see at 11:53. Mine was not leaking so I left it as it was.
