I have a 97 toyota 4runner 4x4. My seal went bad too, i went to dealership to by a seal and mine looks all rubber. Is this tool something i can rent at auto part's store and would it work the same? Also can I use red lucas barring grease? Only on the back where it meets the inside of transmission, or also on the inner part which makes it slide on the shaft?
I have an 06 Escalade with the 4L65E, would this procedure be the same? Mine was leaking from the cooler lines but has started leaking from this seal as well. I had the shop look for the leak when they did the abs bleeding after I replaced some break lines and calipers and they said it was leaking from there. First time viewer but keep up the good work man, no fluff and just straight to the point with the instructions.
Hey man, I have been watching a ton of your videos, they have been incredibly helpful for figuring out my issues on my 4l60. Basically I have narrowed my problem to the TCC apply valve in the transmission pump. Can this be replaced without pulling the trans? I know it's held in with just a snap ring and can be seen from the pan area after pulling the harness with the TCC apply solenoid attached. Sonnax sells a drop in valve to fix my issue (no converter lockup, and no flow to the transmission cooler) Any info is appreciated, thanks!
hey mate not super common here in aus and we have a lot of sedans and wagons and ute here with these units v6 and v8 cars but if rebuilding defiently replace
I'm going to ask a question about 2006 expedition 4x2. transmission was fine, engine seized, installed reman, picked up and would floor it and it's took forever to get to speed. stopped checked fluid, it's normal. get in and it's in limp mode. a harness was melted to cat, replaced and transmission went almost to normal. when first put in reverse or drive it won't go, I need to get RMP, up then it will slam into gear. any help on what to tell mechanic to look at? thanks Mark jefferds
I have a Hyundai Tiburon and that shaft is so stiff the car was stuck in reverse, how easily is that piece replaced and could I be lucky enough that the issue isn’t actually as bad as I think lol
@@SouthpawAutoworks the lady at the transmission place quoted me 1300 before taxes if she has to remove the transmission to replace that seal she said it would be minimal cost if she didn't have to do that. She said she won't know until she looks at the truck seems like they should know before looking at the truck if I tell her what kind of truck it is
I called it a shift shaft the other day, and the guy picked me for hours. He said it’s called a selector shaft. They were even all dancing, some kind of little jig and singing shift shaft shift shaft they picked at me for hours seem like

This can definitely be done in the vehicle.
