Aww Dan gave a positive shout out to Eberhardt! 😂 We’re all deer hunters and we’re all on the same team! 🎉❤ Good Luck to anyone with any weapon on any public or private land this year.
I am a Dan fan. Goals without the standards to achieve those goals are just ideas that have little chance of happening. As far as health (Im 53) I stay in shape year-round and amplify my self-care mid-July forward. I walk, run, lift, eat healthy foods, take supplements, work on my relationship with God, rest, take care of my mental well-being and growth through greater purpose and fulfillment. Self-care is a game changer for remaining active and being able to trek distance and elevation for aging people. The failure isn't just aging, its knowing how to take care of yourself and following through. Keep encouraging people to hunt Dan! Make hunters and help make hunters better people.
Been bowhunting whitetails for 45 years, just about everything about it has changed with information, products, leases, paid hunts etc... Dan is the same as the old timers and really good at it, hunts the same as most guys I know from the old days.
Great interview with one of the best. I think the balance of family and hunting is a tough matrix. I do not spend enough time in the woods, and I know that... it's just difficult prioritize it with kids and work. I like the point about goals and what makes a great season. So many people have terrible attitudes, and they get discouraged too easily.
I’m new to hunting, and killed my first doe last Thanksgiving morning. I went to one of Dan ‘s workshops back in February and the wealth of knowledge that he shared will make my job a lot easier finding a buck this year.
I have been utilizing Dans knowledge for going on 4 years now and slowly developing my own skills/tactics with my own goals in mind. Still have a lot to learn and mistakes to make but undoubtedly has made me and many others much better hunters, woodsman, and people in general. This was an outstanding episode with some great questions that I have been wondering as well.
I’d say as a guy that just started bow hunting 3 years ago with very little private to hunt I’ve learned the most from Dan. I use to only rifle hunt and once I picked up a bow I knew I had to go public, and Dans tactics have put me closer to big bucks on public than I’ve ever been on private.
Yup, it’s impossible. Anyone trying to sell “scent control” is selling people a bag of goods. Always play the wind. One tip I’ve learned from a veterinarian that hunts is to scout, hang cameras or hang stands midday when it’s the hottest. The scent will “burn up” as he stated it due to the heat which makes sense.
Mark you look younger now with that baby face then you did when i first found your podcast it was the big frank episode. Dan is the most relatable to the everyday guy and a wealth of knowledge.
I dont disagree we need more hunters but we need more involved hunters. Folks how pay attention to the whole circle of it. And not more of those that flock to public land, use the resource and go home and don't pay any attention to the politics. Or if they have huge followings on socials dont ever give back. Just takers. Go to your townhalls. Go to volunteer days at your local WMA and help pick up trash.
It's too much work to switch focus with your eyes. Pick a spot on the deer or target and let it just settle over that spot. Practice it that way everytime
Dan is a legend in the space!!! And what a great attitude!! ❤❤

These are some great questions, really stands out to some of the other interviews dan has done. Well done

I turn 54 in October and I just got back into fitness. Encouraging people to stay fit is important. Thanks for bringing it up and good luck this fall.
Interestimg questions for Dano; great interview!
Glad you have Dan the man a big platform

Hunting mature bucks. Is kinda like baseball. If you only succeed 30% of the time. You are a hall of famer

There ya go, nice one Dan.
Awesome podcast! Love Dan and I’m also from Wisconsin! Whoot whoot!
Dan by far one of the best❤
Dan makes a great point when he talks about a deer's nose - hard to fool it.

@@critter852004 Good tip from the vet. Thanks for sharing it and good luck this fall.
Great Podcast!!! Super informative!!!
This was a good listen. Always good hearing from Dan
These questions at the last about 10-15 minutes are very good
I do believe that John Eberhardts extreme methods of scent control are effective but unrealistic for the majority.
I do believe it helps dilute the human odor but nothing fools a whitetails nose 100%.
Dan is a good dude.
The BEAST!!

At this point I wouldn't give up my beast gear and climbing gear it puts me in places I couldn't hunt efficiently be for
