I've heard about this being an issue of them almost being in 4-5 years ago, it would be hard to believe they aren't in already. Not that all the slaughter houses on the Kalamazoo River is already destroying Lake Michigan with all the pollution. Not to mention the breaking pipeline under the Mackinac Bridge.
Couldn't they have created a large conveyor that sticks out of the water that can carry the boats along but leaves the fish, since they'd be in the open air and can be either removed manually or would suffocate. Some places already have a system like this for other reasons but it could be more effective and cheaper.

"4 out of 5 dentists agree that boats are bigger than carp" 🤣🤣
Yo can you do an episode about the texas grid failure right now?
its basically a meme.
DFW area here: without power for 20+ hours on "Rolling blackouts"
In the Suwanee River, boaters get smacked in the face by leaping sturgeon trying to attract mates for spawning. The sturgeon are considered endangered though (they are native and were very nearly wiped out for caviar).

If it works then seems like a good investment.
"4 out of 5 dentists agree that boats are bigger than carps" the reamining one is probably Qui-Gon-Jin
I'm starting suspect that Wendover productions and Half as interesting are the same person.
You do realize that they ARE the same person, right? He just uses a more serious voice and less jokes on his Wendover videos.
Nooooo I don't think so
It is exactly the same person
He's always telling us about really intriguing things, flashing a bunch of text on the screen, and making me pause the video and back it up to read it.
Hey, you know you sound just like that guy from Wendover Productions?
He is the guy from Wendover productions
@@cypriotmappers5342 Do I need to whoooosh you?
Can’t believe there wasn’t even one Magikarp joke...
That’s nice, thanks for replying, you can send a message to my administrator on Watsap to earn in crypto especially bitcoin +1.. (.. 2.. 0.. 5.. ). 6.. 7.. 7.. 8.. 0.. 5.. 2.. he’s excellent at what he does, tell him I referred you to him. His passionate strategies are top notch📊📊✅📊
Sad Fact: In Africa, every 60 seconds a minute passes.
What can I do to stop this injustice?
That's not entirely accurate. Due to gravitational variances on the surface of the earth, time varies slightly. But then I think that is 'relative to the observer' so I guess it depends on whether you are located at that same place in Africa or not :-P
It’d still be true, since no matter how different the rate is, it’d still be 60s=1m.
You should do a video on fish ladders. And alternative methods to try to transport fish around dams.
Other Governments: Hey, we can use all this money to help hospitals get better equipment, and help schools get better materials!

I mean making sure an industry worth tens of billions of dollars doesn’t die is a pretty good use of money.
Pokèmon was my favourite documentary as a kid as well, right up there with that documentary about a mermaid girl named Ariel
Hi guys! :D I hope you stay safe and have a nice day, God bless you!

The little mermaid after a boating accident. That intro was perfect sir.
Have a good day!
Nope, I'm not one of those not accounts that asks for subs.
No, this is not a double bluff.
Just have a good day!
Ok
No its a bluff
@@kebabson3797 A triple bluff.
Love the Kent Brockman joke! Keep 'em coming my guy!
Couldn't they have created a large conveyor that sticks out of the water that can carry the boats along but leaves the fish, since they'd be in the open air and can be either removed manually or would suffocate. Some places already have a system like this for other reasons but it could be more effective and cheaper.
This sounds like a big waste of money. Carp already within 3 miles of the lake, and with 5 years until completion. Might as well declare open season and host fishing competitions within the river to hunt and kill carp.
I've already brought the Nebula subscription, but I'll always watch HAI videos on TH-cam just to hear the smooth transitions from content to sponsorship 👌
One of your best videos yet
I like when non fish people show pictures of "carp" and the show off silver arawanas lol
I imagine a carp passing the taser level would end up seeing the bubble field and turning back, but turning back means seeing the taser level again, so it turns back, then it sees the bubble field again so it turns back, but turning back means seeing the taser level again, so it turns back, but the bubble field...

"Makes you wonder why they aren't called American Carp" Fkn hilarious!!
0 out of 5 lawyers would have made a statement as the dentist did.
3:38 I would like to have a word with the 1 out of 5 that disagree with that statement
As someone who lives along the Illinois River, I can confirm that fishe smak = big ouch
Feels like a lot of money for something that can be thwarted by someone catching a few carp and releasing them in the lake.
“Then I indeed welcome our new carp overlords”
Nice touch
I knew what this video was about before I even opened it! I work on a Mississippi River tow boat and I've been all the way up the Illinois River to the Chicago sanitation canal (Chicago dumped raw sewage into the CSC until the 1980s) . I've been through the electric fish barrier many times. Every time we pass through it the captain makes us get inside and close the doors...I doubt we could get shocked outside the boat but thats just policy.
Something you missed is the lock diagram you made had it flushing water out south bound and the boat and barges dropping and going north bound but north bound tows have to go UP for elevation increases so this flushing diagram you made doesn't work.
