Well I'm going to be visiting soon. Having been lucky enough to travel alot . I've not been to any of the southerns states. As a Black woman born and raised in the UK to say I'm slightly hesitant is somewhat of an understatement!
Not all of the south is as bad as people think. Trust me. I've visited some southern states. Atlanta isnt that bad of a city. But other cities i recommend for you are Raleigh, North Carolina, and Memphis, Tennessee. I have visited those cities. They are really cool. If you go to raleigh, try out this huge barbecue restaurant called "The Pit". And right across the street is a chocolate factory called "Videri". And for memphis, enjoy great music and tennessee style food. Even take a boat ride along the river that borders tennessee with the state of arkansas.
It's a place I just have to see someday, ever since reading about it in a book as a child it has always captured my imagination, I just have to see the place

Fredrick Baker . It has the busiest airport, because of connecting flights not final destination. Additionally, Atlanta is the only city I can think of that has only one airport. It's a nice city but I wouldn't compare it to LA, Chicago, SF, NY, etc. No way.

The video highlights many beautiful places and events in Atlanta. Be aware of the Downtown area where muggers and thieves linger around waiting to rob you. I went there on Nov. 1st and was approached 4 times and 2 would have ended badly if it wasn't for my upbringing in the City. Right in Downtown, 2 blocks from the statehouse, in broad daylight. There's always good and bad places throughout any City. Keep your wits, stay focused, aware and don not let anyone show you "they way" to get somewhere.
Walked down Peachtree, very English. Was OK, it was nice to see the homeless being taken care of near the water feature and kids play park. The Hyatt is lovely.
I love Atlanta.I lived there from 2004-2006, and I can't wait to move back.I'm originally from Memphis, and currently live in Nashville.100 people a day are moving to Nashville, but I find Nashville TOO WHITE and COUNTRY.And I'm a Black woman who dates White guys, and has biracial children.Blackness is not on the radar in Nashville, which is something even native Black Nashvilllians complain about.Atlanta is the best U.S.city to self-actualize, if you're Black.Oh- and EVERY MALL in Georgia is AMAZING.

I lived there for 3 years. 2000-2003 and was happy to move. Haven't been back since but will gladly go to visit for entertainment and sight seeing purposes. Atlanta does have a lot going on but like all cities has negatives that of course Expedia will not cover. LOL Bad for business. Buyers beware! If you want to know the truth before you visit any of these places in these glorified travel videos look at people's personal do's and don'ts and walking tour videos here on youtube. They are excellent for giving a closer look so you'll know what you are getting yourself into. I saw one guy's video on how the best way to visit the Mediterranean and so glad to know the truth before I visit! Now I know what to expect and not expect. He also had the best way to travel to see it. A cruise that docked in 3 cities before cruising back to the city where his trip started. Amazing! Also check the local news of the place you are going months ahead.
