I come from the densely populated Hong Kong and I went to Yosemite last May. It was spectacular and stunning, a view I can never forget... It is the best place of anywhere I went to. I swear I will come again.

I had the same feeling after first seeing Yosemite, I actually hadn't seen any photos of it before getting there. Later in my trip I also visited Zion, which was as breathtaking as Yosemite (maybe even a bit more, for me). So, I recommend visiting Zion national park too, I'm sure you'll love the views from there!
I live really close to this national park, and I have been there so many time. Every time, it took my breath away! That's how amazing it is. It is so beautiful.

When I visited I cried. Literally sobbed... like no place on earth. I live in Switzerland now, and as beautiful as it is, I've never seen a place so vast and majestic as Yosemite.
Yosemite was the closest thing I ever had to a religious experience. Paying the fee and driving into the upper valleys green fields with the snow packed mountains in the distance, small ponds and flowing rivers on each side was something videos can’t capture.
I recently left California to move to Colorado, and though i am near the rocky mountains; I have always wanted to go to yosemite. What a rich history it has.

Just returned to the UK after a visit to Yosemite on our road trip. Such an inspiring place to visit. Simply breathtaking. Having watched this video we now need to go back in spring!
For those that never been, yes it's more beautiful then the video, or any video for that matter. The one thing that struck me is how small you'll feel and how peaceful it is. But there is a downside, it does get extremely crowded and that crowds does take away from the experience. Best time to go is early spring to early summer. Less crowd, you'll get the full effects of the falls then you would in autumn, the air is fresher, gas and lodging is also cheaper.

@@Keepontravelling Not OP but live in Danville and have been to Yosemite multiple times. The drive is fairly safe and easy except when you get close to the valley and the roads can get fairly windy. The best route for a beginner is simply to use Google maps or other app to get to the tunnel view entrance. When you enter the valley though the tunnel there is an amazing view of the valley.

One of the most amazing experiences you will ever have, is to stand underneath Bridal Veil falls and be surrounded/hit by the mist. The feeling is surreal. It is like 650 feet high and the volume of water is simply amazing. The high country hikes and vistas are also incredible. The Hetch Hetchy Valley is amazing also and a lot less people.

I backpacked Yosemite 3 times in the late 70's . Climbed Half Dome on one visit. That was the most beautiful place I have been. I was 28 at the time.I will be 63 in April. After seeing this video I am putting Yosemite on my bucket list. I live in Va. now so i must re visit.

I have made 16 trips to Yosemite (I live a few hours away) and have hiked 100+ miles of trails there. This video is very well done! The #1 Yosemite tip. Get up very early (right when it is getting light, at 5 or 6am ). You will beat the heat, and especially the crowds! Otherwise finding a place to park can be nearly impossible.
Just visited Yosemite for 6 days in June 2k17! Clearly I can't get enough of this place bc I am now watching a TH-cam video again about it. Already missing it. Such a remarkable and unforgettable experience!

Went to Yosemite may 2016...it is most beautiful place I have ever seen...driving up the mountains to get to Yosemite is breathtaking. ..I think this should be one of the wonders of the earth...pictures or videos don't do justice for this place...it is spectacular
I was fortunate to have grown up vacationing there as a teenager. Hiked every waterfall. Slept on half dome.Hiked to cloudsrest then down to the valley... Magical place. Special memories w family and friends met their....

I am really impressed that Expedia put together such a well-rounded video explaining Yosemite so well. I don’t do much traveling, flying or otherwise. but if I find myself I need of a flight Expedia is the first web site I will use thanks to this video they produced or uploaded. it really shows that they care about the user experience more than trying to make a sale. it sole focus I feel was on Yosemite and I’m grateful for this video and company doing this.

Outstanding Video. I got married Oct 1966 in Yosemite Chapel. Have been coming back for 52 years when we could get campground reservations or lodging. Yosemite is magical for all ages in all seasons. You must slow down, stop, and look around towards the granite walls, waterfalls, meadows, sky with clouds, wildlife, black oaks, Mariposa Sequoia Groves, Glacier Road trails and domes, Tuolumne High Country splendors. Hike everywhere you can on well maintained trails. This video tells main places to visit, check out other sites and learn all you can about Yosemite and try to do as much as you can. My school has this thing where in 8th grade, we go to Yosemite for 4-5 days. I’m going this week and I’m so excited, there is going to be possibly a lot of snow this year too, because we are going during the winter, instead of near spring time. 💞

I love this park! Visited it twice, living in the campgrounds and enjoying the atmosphere. Tioga road is the most beautiful road in the park. I was in October, it was so cold especially at night, but less people than in spring and in summer. I was surprised my friends from California have never been there but I am ready to flight to Yosemite from Russia))

Learned to ski at Badger Pass, just off the Glacier Point Road, as a child in the late 1950's. My family went there for the next several years to ski after that first trip. Later, I worked at the Lodge Cafeteria for a few months in 1969 before the service. Went to Vietnam. Returned to the park in early 1973 after the military and worked at The Ahwahnee Hotel Dining Room. Soothed my soul so well. Left at the end of 1974 as Dining Room Manager. Some of the best times of my life. Still miss the place. Winter may be the best time to visit due to the snow and the small crowds though the high country is not accessible due to the snow. May is the best time for the valley as the falls are at their fullest and the crowds haven't gotten too big. Once school is out it gets very crowded. We stayed in the Wawona area, not mentioned in this video but well worth the visit, near the Redwood Estates (cabins available though it is a commute to the valley). Several of the old buildings and cabins from the very early days of non-native people living in the park have been moved nearby and fixed up as a self-guided tour. They have complete interior furnishings so you can see what the pioneer days were like. The Wawona Hotel is close to there and styled like an old southern mansion. It is only open in the summer. It has excellent food. There is a golf course across the road from the Wawona Hotel if you play. (There is also one at The Ahwahnee Hotel in the valley.) It's on the road (Highway 41) to/from Fresno, a few miles in from the Southern Gate and on the same road as Inspiration Point, which is a large turnout/parking area at the end of the looooong Wawona Tunnel. Inspiration Point is immediately on the left as you emerge on the valley side so exit the tunnel slowly to turn off the road. The first white men to view the valley, Captain Joseph R. Walker and party, saw it from just above the turnout and coming in on 41 is your first view of the valley when you exit the tunnel. It is breath taking and you WILL want to stop! The valley is a left turn just inside the 41 gate. A right turn takes you to The Mariposa Big Trees, which are more than worth seeing. That's where the "tunnel tree" used to stand. It's still there but fell several years ago after a severe winter. My family drove through it on a summer trip when I was a child. Three tips: First, once in the valley park your car and ride shuttles whenever possible. Buses even go to The Mariposa Big Trees and Glacier Point and tour rides are available at "The Trees". There are traffic jams in the valley during the summer. The large number of cars and the campfires in the summer cause smog to form in the valley. Help both the park and yourselves and ride the shuttles; saves gas (the gas in the valley is very expensive), wear and tear on you and your vehicle, and, most importantly, the air. Ask at any of the hotels and other lodging facilities about shuttles and tours. You need to sign up for many of the tours and some may cost a few dollars. They are worth every penny. Take one of the open air tour rides around the valley. They are narrated and you will learn a lot. As an alternate for getting around the valley there is a bicycle rental shop open in the summers. It's in The Lodge area. Second, if you want to have dinner at The Ahwahnee there is a coat and tie policy for men. When I was there a few "loaners" were available but they were ugly, ill fitting, and gross. Also, make dinner reservations early, which have limited time slots for non-hotel guests. Any front desk should be able to call for a reservation so you don't need to go there just for that. But a trip there will amaze you with the hotel's beauty and how well it fits the environment. Rules are more relaxed for breakfast and lunch. Be sure to check out the dining room floor. I'll leave that as a surprise. Third, if you have small children and don't want them to swim in the river, which is very cold and the water can move quickly, both the Ahwahnee and The Lodge have pools. The one at The Ahwahnee is small and for hotel guests. The one at The Lodge is much larger and open to the public. It even has a diving board. Hope I helped you and have fun.
@@Expedia You are very welcome. I wrote that late at night/early morning and was getting tired so stopped. Here are a few more ideas/suggestions. If you like to camp but not really rough it go to the high country. You'll get away from the crowds and see country that most park visitors don't. Curry Company has a series of five camps with food and lodging. They are a fairly easy hike from each other and on a loop so you wind up back at your starting point. Easiest starting point is at The Tuolumne Meadows Lodge on the Tioga Pass Road. (I was told while working at The Ahwahnee that Tuolumne Meadows is the largest open meadow in The Sierra Nevada Mountains.) You can hike the loop in either direction and do not have to do it all. In fact, many people go only to the lodge at Tuolumne and, maybe, one other camp. Doing the whole loop covers about 50 miles. Tenaya Lake is there and open for swimming, boats/canoe/kayaks without motors, fishing, and sun bathing. The water is COLD. Lodging is in canvas tents that are on a wooden frame. Same thing as in Curry Village in the valley. Bunk beds with blankets, pillows, and other items provided but no sheets/pillow cases; either take sheets or a sleeping bag. If you have a small group, usually less than four, you may share a tent with a stranger or three. Food is served "family style" so plan on sharing a table. Breakfast and dinner only but you can order a box lunch (MUST be ordered the night before needed) to take on your day hike. You can take your own food but must use the bear proof lockers for storage. Most camps have restrooms including hot showers with soap but you need your own towel. Two camps do not have showers and even those which normally do may not always offer them, subject to the availability of water. There are also horse back tours available to the high country. These are four or six day tours. There is a weight limit for the rider - including any items the rider wishes to take. If hiking but you don't want to carry a heavy pack the horse tours may pack things in for you for a fee per pound. The high camps are open for three months AT THE MOST, subject to snow melt. They have been known to not open at all some years. Mandatory reservations for the high camps and horse tours are by a lottery system. Plan a year in advance. Mosquitoes can be very thick in the high country, I mean carry you away thick, so be prepared. Back in the valley there are many trails for day hikes. You can get to the top, and back down, of Yosemite Falls and Half Dome, when the trails are open, in one day if you are in decent shape. I did Half Dome and worked the dinner shift in one day but I was much younger then. These are NOT trails for little children, especially Half Dome. They will not make it in one day (you'll wind up carrying them) and there really are no places to camp overnight, even if it was allowed. Take more water than you think you will need. The trails are long, can be very steep, and get quite hot. Speaking of water, the clearest and best tasting water I have ever had was at Fern Springs. It is on the right side of South Side Drive near the park entrance but very easy to miss with an extremely small parking area. I have known people to take jugs of this water home with them. Also one of the better places for photos. Pay attention as the sign for it is fairly small and easy to miss. About The Ahwahnee Hotel: While coat and tie is always appropriate for gentlemen in such an elegant locale, the dining room dress code may have changed some since I worked there. That was, after all, more than 40 years ago. Call the hotel before you leave to find out. It is a truly amazing building and THE ONE man-made sight in the park absolutely worth seeing. The Wawona Hotel is splendid, and well worth a visit, but just not quite up to the level The Ahwahnee is at. It cost about 1.25 million dollars when it opened in 1927. It looks like a lot of wood was used on the exterior; it is actually stained concrete which was used for fire safety. If visiting around Christmas ask about the special events they have. Many are open to the public. When I worked there the hotel closed just after Thanksgiving for a few weeks so it could be cleaned top-to-bottom. We even cleared out the dining room and set up movable scaffolding so the rafters could be dusted. One last thing. At certain times of the year, when there is a full moon, and with the correct weather conditions, you can see a "moonbow" at the base of Yosemite Falls. I could keep writing about the park but never describe it adequately,

I have made 16 trips to Yosemite (I live a few hours away) and have hiked 100+ miles of trails there. This video is very well done!
The #1 Yosemite tip. Get up very early (right when it is getting light, at 5 or 6am ). You will beat the heat, and especially the crowds! Otherwise finding a place to park can be nearly impossible.

I visited Yosemite many times, but what I can tell Yosemite is more beautiful than it is shown in the video.. No matter how advanced cameras we get there is something that only human eyes can capture.

It's inspiring and inviting video absolutelly. Actually my breath is taking away any time we hike the Rocky Mountains in Alberta (Canada) as we go every summer. We are going pretty soon to Jasper one more time to see the glaciers one of the most beautiful places in the Rocky Mountains.

I am really impressed that Expedia put together such a well-rounded video explaining Yosemite so well. I don’t do much traveling, flying or otherwise. but if I find myself I need of a flight Expedia is the first web site I will use thanks to this video they produced or uploaded. it really shows that they care about the user experience more than trying to make a sale. it sole focus I feel was on Yosemite and I’m grateful for this video and company doing this.

Outstanding Video. I got married Oct 1966 in Yosemite Chapel. Have been coming back for 52 years when we could get campground reservations or lodging. Yosemite is magical for all ages in all seasons. You must slow down, stop, and look around towards the granite walls, waterfalls, meadows, sky with clouds, wildlife, black oaks, Mariposa Sequoia Groves, Glacier Road trails and domes, Tuolumne High Country splendors. Hike everywhere you can on well maintained trails. This video tells main places to visit, check out other sites and learn all you can about Yosemite and try to do as much as you can. My school has this thing where in 8th grade, we go to Yosemite for 4-5 days. I’m going this week and I’m so excited, there is going to be possibly a lot of snow this year too, because we are going during the winter, instead of near spring time. 💞

I love this park! Visited it twice, living in the campgrounds and enjoying the atmosphere. Tioga road is the most beautiful road in the park. I was in October, it was so cold especially at night, but less people than in spring and in summer. I was surprised my friends from California have never been there but I am ready to flight to Yosemite from Russia))

Learned to ski at Badger Pass, just off the Glacier Point Road, as a child in the late 1950's. My family went there for the next several years to ski after that first trip. Later, I worked at the Lodge Cafeteria for a few months in 1969 before the service. Went to Vietnam. Returned to the park in early 1973 after the military and worked at The Ahwahnee Hotel Dining Room. Soothed my soul so well. Left at the end of 1974 as Dining Room Manager. Some of the best times of my life. Still miss the place.
Winter may be the best time to visit due to the snow and the small crowds though the high country is not accessible due to the snow. May is the best time for the valley as the falls are at their fullest and the crowds haven't gotten too big. Once school is out it gets very crowded.
We stayed in the Wawona area, not mentioned in this video but well worth the visit, near the Redwood Estates (cabins available though it is a commute to the valley). Several of the old buildings and cabins from the very early days of non-native people living in the park have been moved nearby and fixed up as a self-guided tour. They have complete interior furnishings so you can see what the pioneer days were like.
The Wawona Hotel is close to there and styled like an old southern mansion. It is only open in the summer. It has excellent food. There is a golf course across the road from the Wawona Hotel if you play. (There is also one at The Ahwahnee Hotel in the valley.) It's on the road (Highway 41) to/from Fresno, a few miles in from the Southern Gate and on the same road as Inspiration Point, which is a large turnout/parking area at the end of the looooong Wawona Tunnel.
Inspiration Point is immediately on the left as you emerge on the valley side so exit the tunnel slowly to turn off the road. The first white men to view the valley, Captain Joseph R. Walker and party, saw it from just above the turnout and coming in on 41 is your first view of the valley when you exit the tunnel. It is breath taking and you WILL want to stop! The valley is a left turn just inside the 41 gate. A right turn takes you to The Mariposa Big Trees, which are more than worth seeing. That's where the "tunnel tree" used to stand. It's still there but fell several years ago after a severe winter. My family drove through it on a summer trip when I was a child.
Three tips:
First, once in the valley park your car and ride shuttles whenever possible. Buses even go to The Mariposa Big Trees and Glacier Point and tour rides are available at "The Trees". There are traffic jams in the valley during the summer. The large number of cars and the campfires in the summer cause smog to form in the valley. Help both the park and yourselves and ride the shuttles; saves gas (the gas in the valley is very expensive), wear and tear on you and your vehicle, and, most importantly, the air. Ask at any of the hotels and other lodging facilities about shuttles and tours. You need to sign up for many of the tours and some may cost a few dollars. They are worth every penny. Take one of the open air tour rides around the valley. They are narrated and you will learn a lot. As an alternate for getting around the valley there is a bicycle rental shop open in the summers. It's in The Lodge area.
Second, if you want to have dinner at The Ahwahnee there is a coat and tie policy for men. When I was there a few "loaners" were available but they were ugly, ill fitting, and gross. Also, make dinner reservations early, which have limited time slots for non-hotel guests. Any front desk should be able to call for a reservation so you don't need to go there just for that. But a trip there will amaze you with the hotel's beauty and how well it fits the environment. Rules are more relaxed for breakfast and lunch. Be sure to check out the dining room floor. I'll leave that as a surprise.
Third, if you have small children and don't want them to swim in the river, which is very cold and the water can move quickly, both the Ahwahnee and The Lodge have pools. The one at The Ahwahnee is small and for hotel guests. The one at The Lodge is much larger and open to the public. It even has a diving board.

@@Expedia You are very welcome. I wrote that late at night/early morning and was getting tired so stopped. Here are a few more ideas/suggestions.
If you like to camp but not really rough it go to the high country. You'll get away from the crowds and see country that most park visitors don't. Curry Company has a series of five camps with food and lodging. They are a fairly easy hike from each other and on a loop so you wind up back at your starting point. Easiest starting point is at The Tuolumne Meadows Lodge on the Tioga Pass Road. (I was told while working at The Ahwahnee that Tuolumne Meadows is the largest open meadow in The Sierra Nevada Mountains.) You can hike the loop in either direction and do not have to do it all. In fact, many people go only to the lodge at Tuolumne and, maybe, one other camp. Doing the whole loop covers about 50 miles. Tenaya Lake is there and open for swimming, boats/canoe/kayaks without motors, fishing, and sun bathing. The water is COLD.
Lodging is in canvas tents that are on a wooden frame. Same thing as in Curry Village in the valley. Bunk beds with blankets, pillows, and other items provided but no sheets/pillow cases; either take sheets or a sleeping bag. If you have a small group, usually less than four, you may share a tent with a stranger or three. Food is served "family style" so plan on sharing a table. Breakfast and dinner only but you can order a box lunch (MUST be ordered the night before needed) to take on your day hike. You can take your own food but must use the bear proof lockers for storage. Most camps have restrooms including hot showers with soap but you need your own towel. Two camps do not have showers and even those which normally do may not always offer them, subject to the availability of water.
There are also horse back tours available to the high country. These are four or six day tours. There is a weight limit for the rider - including any items the rider wishes to take. If hiking but you don't want to carry a heavy pack the horse tours may pack things in for you for a fee per pound.
The high camps are open for three months AT THE MOST, subject to snow melt. They have been known to not open at all some years. Mandatory reservations for the high camps and horse tours are by a lottery system. Plan a year in advance. Mosquitoes can be very thick in the high country, I mean carry you away thick, so be prepared.
Back in the valley there are many trails for day hikes. You can get to the top, and back down, of Yosemite Falls and Half Dome, when the trails are open, in one day if you are in decent shape. I did Half Dome and worked the dinner shift in one day but I was much younger then. These are NOT trails for little children, especially Half Dome. They will not make it in one day (you'll wind up carrying them) and there really are no places to camp overnight, even if it was allowed. Take more water than you think you will need. The trails are long, can be very steep, and get quite hot.
Speaking of water, the clearest and best tasting water I have ever had was at Fern Springs. It is on the right side of South Side Drive near the park entrance but very easy to miss with an extremely small parking area. I have known people to take jugs of this water home with them. Also one of the better places for photos. Pay attention as the sign for it is fairly small and easy to miss.
About The Ahwahnee Hotel: While coat and tie is always appropriate for gentlemen in such an elegant locale, the dining room dress code may have changed some since I worked there. That was, after all, more than 40 years ago. Call the hotel before you leave to find out. It is a truly amazing building and THE ONE man-made sight in the park absolutely worth seeing. The Wawona Hotel is splendid, and well worth a visit, but just not quite up to the level The Ahwahnee is at. It cost about 1.25 million dollars when it opened in 1927. It looks like a lot of wood was used on the exterior; it is actually stained concrete which was used for fire safety. If visiting around Christmas ask about the special events they have. Many are open to the public. When I worked there the hotel closed just after Thanksgiving for a few weeks so it could be cleaned top-to-bottom. We even cleared out the dining room and set up movable scaffolding so the rafters could be dusted.
One last thing. At certain times of the year, when there is a full moon, and with the correct weather conditions, you can see a "moonbow" at the base of Yosemite Falls.
