    I appreciate this video and just shared on my Facebook page. It's great to hear another plant eater's suggestions for transitioning. I'm 51 and will be celebrating my 3rd veganiversary in a few weeks. I lost 7 pounds and my annoying arthritis went away. I didn't think I could do it since I was a cheese junkie, but I did and I feel great!

    Hi Sophie! I’ve just found your channel and, as a long term vegetarian, but now turned vegan about 3 months ago, I am loving the information you are putting out. I’ve made this my ‘hobby’ as I’m constantly researching which is how I found you. I live in the UK, am 65 years old (how did that happen?!!) have just lost 29 lbs - and I feel great!! SO much more energy and haven’t fitted into a Size 12 (skinny!) which I now do, for around 20 years!! I did it for the animals, but oh my goodness, what a bonus I received from it too! Keep up your good work! X

    After being vegan for the past 8 years (age 48) and vegetarian high plant based since age 18, I am actually starting to veer away from the "nutrition" side and instead look at the "chemistry" side. This has led me to Dr. Robert Morse (PhD in Chemistry) and his thoughts on beans are {from chemistry side of thinking} that as a protein, they cause acid in the body. Since changing to a diet of herbs/fruit, salad in the evening and occasional sweet potato/sprouted grains I am reducing acids in my body, seeing my kidneys filter and a regeneration of tissues on a cellular level! Brighter, lighter eyes, zero joint pain (I am 26 year Fitness Instructor) and more! I would love your opinion, Sophie, on Hilde Larsen, Dr. Morse, and those amazing healers! I think the possibility exists of living even longer than Blue Zone age spans if we open our minds and spirits to a new level!

    Thank you for this inspiring and beautiful video, Sophie! I've been vegan for over 4 years but not a healthy vegan for the last 3 of those years. I just rewatched Forks Over Knives, Engine 2, and now this wonderful video and I'm ready to get my groove back! The older I get the more important my health becomes. I want to finally lose all my weight and be the best version of me. ❤🌼❤🌼❤🌼❤🌼❤🌼❤🌼❤🌼❤🌼❤🌼

    We've been whole foods a couple of months, now I am ready to jump into the plant based side completely. Husband still wants his meat, but even he eats less meat than he used to. We've autoimmune issues, me with RA and constant sinus problems and hubby with gout. Looking forward to healthier us! Thank you for all your videos, such great info and encouragement.

    I am gluten free. I don't take sugar or dairy. I take almond milk. I eat fish but no meat. I tale lots of vegetables and fruit. No processed food and no rice, no beans, no corn. I still eat carbohydrates like potatoes, yams, plantains either fried or boiled. I add flax seed and chia seed to my smoothie and salads. I take vitamins b12, omega 3 fish oil and vit D3. I use coconut oil to make my salad and use extra virgin oil to cook. I love to snack on coconut and almond nuts. Is this type of diet healthy?

    I am a meat and cheese eater and was low on B 12. Having to take 1,000mg a day. And had to have 5 shots. This is my second attempt trying Plant Based. I am a true believer that it can work. First time I was on it. My sugar level was at its lowest. 90-118! Since I went off it for a bit. My highest has been 140. I am back with it. :) I really do enjoy it. Sometimes I just have a hard time sticking to something. I really want to do it. :) And I have subscribed. :) I am glad I found your video's.

    • @jamiecee4960
      @jamiecee4960 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My biggest block the first time I had gone on it was Cheese. I craved Pizza or mac and cheese. lol. This time around so far I haven't. I try different recipes so I don't get bored. Which seems to help me.

    It's definitely a journey. I started plant based 18 years ago "cheating" every so often with a little cheese here and there and seafood. As the years passed I did that less and less. It can be overwhelming and so many people try it cold turkey (oops, no pun intended) and then fail and so therefore give up. Remember, progress, not perfection!

    Great video Sophie. and I liked it how you were focusing more on the topic rather than welcoming your viewers. You are always making great videos, but personally I humbly think that it is best when live videos don't focus in greeting viewers that much, but focus on the topic. Thank you for all your great work! Please keep it up. You are a sunshine! :)

    You recommend whole grain rice but whole grain rice has substantially more arsenic in it due to husk absorption. White rice from California and India have much much less arsenic. Have you looked into the pros/cons of arsenic levels vs nutrition in brown vs white rice?

    I really appreciate this video, very helpful. What are your thoughts on soy and soy products (i.e. tempeh, tofu, soy milk)? I found from my research that soy contains lots of nutritious but is also high in anti-nutrients. I'm unsure if there is a certain way to eat soy in order to absorb its nutrients or if its just best to stay away from it.

    • @SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen
      @SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am a huge fan of soy. The science tells us now that it's protective against breast cancer. You don't need to worry about the "anti-nutrients" - just make sure you are getting plenty of iodine in your diet by eating sea veggies or iodized table salt.

      I don't eat eggs. If I get that craving, there's a vegan egg option that is really delicious. But my mornings are usually smoothies or granola!

    • @SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen
      @SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not, but my husband and daughter do. Generally, I say to clients that it's okay to eat eggs as long as your cholesterol is perfect (or your doc is saying it's as near to perfect as it can be for your age). But don't beat yourself up. If you like eggs, eat them!

    @gorgeouslygreen I agree that there are proteins in some plant foods. You mentioned beans and legumes are excellent sources of protein but sadly, I don't care for a lot of beans. Just not a fan of the texture. A few hormone functional medicine doctors mentioned that it is important for menopausal women or people with autoimmune like hashimotos, it's important to consume "lean meat" (organic grass-fed beef) because it has amino acids which aren't found in whole plant based diets. Do you agree and can you do a video on this? You mentioned making baked goods. When you do, do you use gluten free flour? Do you have a video on gluten free diet?
