    I drove a 2017 Malibu with the smaller 1.5L engine. Aside from the power, I thought it was very comfortable and solid handling car for everyday driving. If I ever were to get one, I'd definitely get the top trim 2.0T Premier

      I drive an 06 Malibu and I’ve never had a problem with the engine or anything like that. But it’s pretty rotted out due to previous owner having it parked in grass causing it to rot. Drove it for a good 2 years and now I’m saving up for either the 2016 model or a 2014 model. Test drove the 2016 Malibu and I was quite happy with it. Hopefully it’s still available in a couple of months

    I heard a few negatives: he knocked the transmission for not having a sport mode or paddle shifters, he didn't like that Apple Car Play was limited on apps (no Waze), and that the back seat vents didn't have controls on them. But you can tell he liked the video.

    Typical plasticy GM interior, BUT, it's beautiful and the performance for the price is exceptional. Despite the cheapy materials, GM build quality is usually pretty darn good. Probably the best 2wd car in its segment.

    A stunning bodyside styling mashup of BOTH the 1968 and the 1970 Buick Skylarks by the colouring pencil warriors at GM.
    And that face, perhaps inspired by a bad orthodontic experiment. As graceful as a frog jumping backwards.

    OEM's are asking their little motors to provide lots of power with tiny sizes, this cannot be good for long term reliability. I guess that is why these cars drop in resale value so much compared to the Japanese brands.

    • @raulvidal8846
      @raulvidal8846 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      LED headlamps aren't common within that price-point tbh. it has bi-xenons though which is pertinent considering the segment it's in. If you want LEDs you need to go premium and not american. I don't know why americans are so reluctant to introduce new lighting technology (or of any kind in the automotive industry really exception being Ford and some performance vehicles.)

    i cant say that im frothing at the mouth over this. although this is a step in the right direction for the malibu when compared to previous iterations, i cant help but wonder if we are talking baby steps, as opposed to the japanese and german leaps of the malibu's rivals. a couple of other points, no mention that vw were competition for the malibu, though to my mind the passat (v6) is the direct competitor, albeit vastly superior for about the same money. i have always found chevrolet build quality a bit so-so, and at 7:20 this just reinforces this view. those speakers and wires should be hidden and tucked away neat and tidy at this pricepoint ($30k). its not hard to do, but its like chevrolet think 'that'll do, close enough etc ..'.

    The main problem with these cars are the used dealership game of bait and switch when used you pay 40-56% higher than list Hendricks is the biggest dealer that rip the public off with their price games it's way cheapest to buy a brand new car. Because you'll pay 25% more for a three year old car with 30-49,000 miles than a new car. Dealers make huge amounts of money on used cars than new. They give you for your trade in nothing you pay them to take your car and pay above list for their used car or truck.

    so what is better 2.0T or V6????

    • @EGGINFOOLS
      @EGGINFOOLS 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well they are both reliable. I prefer my 3.6 in my 2010 to the 2.0t. The 3.6 is very underrated. I've beaten many ats 2.0t with it and it's smooth too. Gas mileage isn't too bad either when on the highway. The 2.0t is really easy to mod and make a lot of power with. The 3.6 is no longer offered though.

    • @davidfreeman3083
      @davidfreeman3083 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      EGGINFOOLS I think that definitely 2.0T is not meant to compete with 3.6 V6. I'm pretty young and have no experience or knowledge with auto history, so I don't know if GM ever had that. I know that usually most automakers can make 2.0T to match a 2.8 or 3.0. BMW 530/528, which was famous for its engine at the time, has switched to 2.0T. If Chevy comes up with something like 2.4T ( a direct competitor against Ford's 2.3T Ecoboost) it probably would replace 3.6 completely...

    give chevy another 10 years and they will be up there with bmw and benz...idk how this competes with toyota and honda when its miles and miles ahead of them

    • @andyhernandez475
      @andyhernandez475 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      alex theromanian it actually isn't, technology is spread across those brands equally to be honest, now Toyota and Honda are a thousand times more reliable than any GM car, I work for GM and drive a Toyota!

    • @alextheromanian
      @alextheromanian 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andy Hernandez I'm not a fan of their style... their reliability I have nothing to complain for... it's just the way they look. Taste is subjective and to me toyotas just don't look good (esp this year) to be fair I feel the same about VW, Honda, chevy, ford etc. it's not that I'm picky... it's just that they just aren't my style. But yeah idk what's going on with chevy... for the prices they currently charge people are not flocking to them... that speaks volumes about the product...
      Been wanting to buy a volt since it came out... now I can afford one but no longer want one seeing as how in 3 years they lost 50% of the initial value. Would rather buy something that holds on to value better

    • @alextheromanian
      @alextheromanian 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i hate ripping on them tbh and i hear nothing but amazing things about the first gen volts which i may actually still buy. i just...idk man they need to do what toyota did back in the day. WOW people with reliability and service and first of all price....make the "premium" features standard including hybrid...they need to redo their game and literally be the first mainstream company out there shifting gears into all eco cars....then have the premium traditional muscle/ utility stuff which they do ok with already...idk i just dont know it seems like its middle of the road and expensive...and at this point they just dont compete well with asian auto makers.

      @@alextheromanian I know this is old but yeah your were right about the other brands there not really good looking cars I know they have came out with a lot of newer designs but I personally like the looks of the Chevy vehicles they just feel so much more premium then other brands I drive a 2014 Chevy impala ltz red and also a 2016 Chevy Malibu premier and get compliments a lot from people about this beautiful my cars are I know there not going to be as reliable but as long as you keep up with maintenance anything can last as long as it’s been takin care of.

    bought mine 9 weeks ago, 7 weeks in dealership on repairs. First the Sunroof didnt work. Now the Mylink system is not recognizing the USB ports. so Apple Car Play does not work. 6 times in the dealer to fix it not yet a solution. If chevy is aiming for midsize customers should consider the level of quality we expect is like a VW or audi at minimum. If not they can continue wrestling in the small car segment with the aveos and others. Or just make this again another rental car that doesn't spent enough time with the customer to disappoint him like me

      Nothing you wrote is true except for "more things to break" which is a fallacious syllogism. That retrograde thinking only limits you, this is 2016 not 1985, I don't even suppose you understand how a turbo compressor works tbh. So don't worry, as long as you service the auto properly you won't have issues with a turbo engine. I hope that you are aware that Turbine air compression technology is fairly common nowadays and it only will be more popular over the coming years so it will get cheaper over time to repair any imperfections.

Accord also offers Apple Carplay/ Android Auto and all the safety tech, its ride is on the sporty side and does not feel like a boat, the interior will always have better fit and finish than any Chevy....I will say this car is a huge improvement over the last generation rental grade, but would hesitate in saying it's at the top of the pack.
