When growing up in the 70's I wasn't a huge fan of Queen, but now I'm in my mid 60's and in the past several years I now have a new found respect for Freddie Mercury, he's one hell of a singer and showman! When you take greatness for granted you lose out and don't even know it until its gone
Kind of a shame. I'm also in my mid sixties and started listening to them from their first album 50 years ago. I also had the chance to see them twice in Madison Square Garden in the early eighties.
Freddie is 1 of 1,there will never be another Freddie Mercury, Queen is the biggest selling Rock Band in the world and their music has been featured in over 140 different TV Commercials
Queen became Queen through unbelievable talent and touring, touring, touring & touring. And then they toured some more. The only time they were off the road in the first 10 years was to record an album.
it is always a joy watching Queen live! Love that this video has so much footage of Roger, Brian and Deacon as usually Freddie is the total focus. The whole band is so talented
Great to see you guys back with the queen reactions, you have so nany still to go. As a young 24 year old i was at the live aid concert in 85 and have been hooked on queen ever since, now as i approach my mid sixties i still listen to them every day , they are timeless.
The funniest thing is that Roger did most of the high notes. Like at the beginning of Bohemian Rhapsody, for example. In somebody to love, The call is from him and the response from Freddie.
Thank you….about Freddie’s stamina…a strength and conditioning coach who works with athletes and the military talked about Freddie’s breathing…when he is shirtless the coach said you can see that there is no heaving of his chest when Freddie is running around belting out powerful notes…also Queen performed two consecutive days at Wembley…two in Montreal…Milton Keynes…Hammersmith ….The Rainbow…The Odeon….Hyde Park….Paris…Budapest….South America…Japan…to name some of their concerts…in my opinion they are all epic….have you realised yet that Queen are pure theatre in everything they do?🤩
Take a look at the Tutti Frutti Medley from this.... it is SO fun and hilarious! Queen has fabulous music and was known to put on a performance... people were willing to battle the crowds, stand in line and deal with heat to see it.
Queen became that big because they created versatile music that each and everyone could relate to. I watched crowds on Queen Concerts that had professors and doctors aswell as young kids, teenagers in it, the worker and the housewife. From 5 yo to 75 yo. And they became big by touring a lot. Of course they worked their ass off, also in the Studio. They performed on more than 700 live gigs and concerts before FM died. That is a lot, considering it was done in just about 15 years ('71 to '86).
I think it was because they had hits every year for a long time, and kept exploring new sounds. They offer something for everyone. They treat their fans amazingly well, and everything they do is first class. They released Greatest Hits albums with a playlist specific to that country it was released to. Freddie was able to reach everyone in a club or stadium and make each person feel like they were special to the band. I wish you could have experienced that.
The main reason the fans have been behind the group since they formed. It's because the group loved their fans and always acknowledged that the fans made them and they owed the fans.xx
There's a video out there, 'Roger cam', entirely trained on Roger Taylor for this song. I'm out of breath by the end, and I can't help admiring Roger's energy, because even back then, I'd have needed a little lie down to get my breath back!
As others have said, Roger says this is the hardest song for him to play, but he killed it. Every freakin' night! And this was halfway through the show already! During intermission, Brian played a long solo. With this song (and all the others), Roger not only played _hard_ , but also sang during the songs! The Roger Cam is way fun to watch and, on this song, is amazing (again, as others have said). Queen was so so different than everyone else. Every song was different from the one before. From thrash metal to ballads to pop songs to great rock... they did it all. I saw Queen in 1978 (I was 17-years old) and was blown away. The stadium had wooden bleachers and 30+ minutes before the concert even started, we all were stomp-stomp-clap -ping, shaking the old Lakeland Civic Center (near Orlando) so hard, I thought the bleachers would fall down. I swear I can still feel those reverberations even though the stadium is long gone. The movie _Bohemian Rhapsody_ is really good, but quite inaccurate as far as events and the timing of their lives were concerned. Roger and Brian assisted on the movie, but they agreed to the mashing together of some events, created the worst of Freddie for much of the movie, and played to people's hearts when it wasn't time to. BUT, again, I love and watch the movie a lot. The music alone is exquisite (of course!). Do watch it, but go in knowing things were not _exactly_ as they are played in the movie.
When I saw them at Madison Square Garden in September 1980, this song, as well as every other one, sounded great live. The sound came from the stage and all around the arena.
I got into a discussion with a colleague once. I was at this concert , near the front , and said how great it was. So she asked which was better , being at the birth of my daughter or the concert. I said that was a difficult question to answer. She was appalled , and i said ` in all fairness you didn`t see the concert`
This was written by Brian about Queen’s first tour of the US (as opener for Mott the Hoople.) It seems some partying was going on with Peaches at The Dungeon in New Orleans! You mentioned Metallica. They covered an early Queen song in 1990 and won a Grammy. Check out “Stone Cold Crazy” live at the Rainbow, 1974. Sadly, the Magic tour was the last of their live performance together. The Wembley show was round about three weeks before the final show. Thanks.
All members of the band giving an epic performance. There is a multicam video of Roger Taylor for this performance just focused on him. He said this is his hardest song to perform. Have you reacted to Dragon Attack and Keep Yourself Alive live at Montreal? Great performances. Also check out White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Haven’t seen anyone not absolutely love this hidden gem. Guitar and piano interplay is ethereal while the drum and bass keep them grounded. Drums throughout are amazing.
1979 Liverpool Empire..First time I set eyes on them.. from the moment they walk on stage it was an all guns blazing rock n roll show... Fantastic band
HURRAYYYY!!! AWWW Guys, You have NO idea what great timing this is; you’ve completely rescued a Miserable Day! BTW… Queen didn’t only “pack out a soccer stadium”! When tickets for this concert went on sale… they sold out so FAST, that Queen added a second consecutive night (this is often referred to as “Wembley Weekend” because there were actually TWO concerts on Friday & Saturday). But THEN… tickets for the second night also sold out so FAST, that Queen agreed to add a third show on the end of the tour, the next month at another London venue: Knebworth Park. Attendance at Wembley was 72,000 (I think). So… 72,000 X two nights = 144,000 Attendance at Knebworth was at least 125,000 (It was an open venue, so may have had a LOT of gate crashers) So… 144,000 + 125,000 = At LEAST 269,000 …for Queen’s last-ever London shows.
There are several TH-cam documentaries about how Queen became "Queen". I'd suggest Freddie Mercury: The Ultimate Showman to start with. You could even react to it (it's 58 minutes so it would be a major undertaking 😂). Also, Wings of Pegasus has a video where Fil explains why Queen were so perfect at Live Aid. Even if you only watch for yourselves it will answer a lot of your questions. Love your reactions, especially the Queen ones since I'm a huge fan too.
The funniest thing about the song to me, other than Brian wrote The Great Songs, too. I love this version, but you should check out the others. There's one at live at the bowl that you must see, and one from 1979 at Hammersmith. I saw them in Puebla Mexico when I was taking my junior year abroad in college.
Brilliant Asia and BJ. RIP Freddie. Please can you react to the Queen and Live Aid 1985 performance? It is widely regarded as the greatest live performance of all time and will blow your socks off.
You're going to feel some kind of way for me. I spent my Junior Year abroad in Mexico, and I took a 3-hour bus ride to a city called Puebla to see them perform. Every single person in the audience knew every single word to every single song. Now ask me if any of them spoke English.
The only channel that I click thumbs up on before the first word is spoken is Here. Of all of the videos that i have watched of yours, I have never been let down in any way. THank you and Stay Safe. Much Love!!!
Oh and how did they become that big? Their songs are classic. The number of reactors who are "I have never heard Queen".... listen to songs and are like "that was Queen!?". You have We Will Rock you, Don't Stop me now, I want it all etc and they're in the culture all over the world. The USA missed out on the tail end of Queen with Freddie too. Growing up in New Zealand we always had Queen somewhere on the radio s tations in any given hour. Strange thing is Queen was "Deeply uncool" to like in my late teens. Yet we still listened (and in my case did not give a damn if they were uncool". The "Cool" bands did not last. Queen, Bowie, etc they endure.
Glad you guys have been getting back to some music reactions you really stepped away from it for a while. Especially Queen! Still a ton of Queen songs you need to hear yet! Haven’t scratched the surface. All that said you SHOULD react asap to the Bohemian Rhapsody movie 100% 😊
But if you do watch the movie - know that they played fast and loose with timelines and important story elements. Also - Freddie's friends have said they don't recognize him in the film's character. Freddie was fun and lively in life. I think that the more time has gone by, the more we find out how inaccurate the movie was.
This from their third album, Sheer Heart Attack which has the title track on their sixth album, News of the World. They were doing a lot of studio experimenting with this song and others on this album. There are some videos out there of Brian May the guitarist explaining some of the tricks they used, including one where he breaks down Bohemian Rhapsody in such great detail such as isolating one or two tracks at a time to hear them separately.
You should play Live Aid 1985 at Wembley,,with Queen.. Its over 21 minutes long.. Freddie Mercury performance was marvelous,, I keep going back to watch that video
Never was able to see them live but Queen is just electric...⚡ Sorry I've not been able to watch the live streams the last couple of weeks but within 1 minute of going live my laptop says there is a problem and the feed drops. I've refreshed, rebooted and everything else I can think of, but I'll keep trying ...❣
Many years ago i took my girlfriend to a queen concert. Freddie mercury was on fire. About 20 mins in my girlfriend said she was bored and wanted to leave. I should have said bye off you go then. However, i left with her. She said she didnt like the music. One of the regrets in life, not staying to the end.
Thank you for your great reaction. I hope you keep on doing Queen. Freddie is not just the greatest in our universe, but, also Thee most beautiful soul that was ever created. Also you mentioned the movie. Just to Let you know it is not a documentary. Nothing in the movie was factual. I suggest you watch real documentary’s with the real people that were in his life. Also a little bit about the boys. Brian May the guitarist Is an Astrophysicist, animal activist and knighted by the King of England ( and s closefriend ) The drummer, Roger Taylor studied density and has a Degree in biology. The bassist, John Deacon has an electrical engineering degree .Freddie has a degree in graphics design. All College graduates..
Prior to live aid the band were havjng problems with artistic differences but after the reaction they got to live aid everytning was put adside and they went back in the studio to record "one vision ".They also decided to do a world tour which because of live aid sold out where ever it went culminating in the two nights at wembley and knebworth which sadly was the last time Queen performed live with Freddie as their front man
im pretty sure it was the air whistling around his teeth, that produced a subconscious craving for mcdonalds french fries and a coke in people when they would hear him sing.. and this is what propelled them beyond being just a good rock band, to being able to fill huge stadiums like this
When growing up in the 70's I wasn't a huge fan of Queen, but now I'm in my mid 60's and in the past several years I now have a new found respect for Freddie Mercury, he's one hell of a singer and showman! When you take greatness for granted you lose out and don't even know it until its gone
Same here!
Kind of a shame. I'm also in my mid sixties and started listening to them from their first album 50 years ago. I also had the chance to see them twice in Madison Square Garden in the early eighties.
I was at Wembley that night, best gig ever. Choose any song from it, you won't be disappointed.
Freddie is 1 of 1,there will never be another Freddie Mercury, Queen is the biggest selling Rock Band in the world and their music has been featured in over 140 different TV Commercials
Queen is a beautiful thing!
R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
Queen became Queen through unbelievable talent and touring, touring, touring & touring. And then they toured some more. The only time they were off the road in the first 10 years was to record an album.
it is always a joy watching Queen live! Love that this video has so much footage of Roger, Brian and Deacon as usually Freddie is the total focus. The whole band is so talented
Queen, a band of Genius Musicians and Performers. Be Amazed. It's Called For.
Freddie was a musical conduit straight from God. That's why he was a so perfectly extra.
Saw them in 1984 never forgotten it , they all were awesome
Great to see you guys back with the queen reactions, you have so nany still to go.
As a young 24 year old i was at the live aid concert in 85 and have been hooked on queen ever since, now as i approach my mid sixties i still listen to them every day , they are timeless.
Showmanship is what Freddie had...also insane vocal range
The funniest thing is that Roger did most of the high notes. Like at the beginning of Bohemian Rhapsody, for example. In somebody to love, The call is from him and the response from Freddie.

One of my favorite live Queen performances. Roger really shines one the drums
Queen was epic. They are so in sync it's ridiculous. They all killed this one.
Take a look at the Tutti Frutti Medley from this.... it is SO fun and hilarious! Queen has fabulous music and was known to put on a performance... people were willing to battle the crowds, stand in line and deal with heat to see it.
IMHO The first night at Wembley was funnier than the second, which is what’s on the finished video.
Yes, I agree, it’s so good!
Queen became that big because they created versatile music that each and everyone could relate to. Maybe the first time I've ever seen anyone react to this classic. BTW, hope you guys are safe from that storm hitting NOLA. Cheers from Florida.
I was at this concert. They were preceded by INXS, The Alarm, and Status Quo. It was an epic day
There's a video out there, 'Roger cam', entirely trained on Roger Taylor for this song. I'm out of breath by the end, and I can't help admiring Roger's energy, because even back then, I'd have needed a little lie down to get my breath back!

Thank you for reacting to this! As stated below, this is a total classic. Again thanks for the reactions, much appreciated.

Also amazing that ALL 4 guys wrote songs that turned out hits for them at some time or other. Not often you hear of that....
A huge YES to all you both said. The cameramen and video editors crushed it as well.
I saw them live in 1977 in Portland, they opened with We Will Rock You.
Queen is so energetic. Great performance and really knew how to put on a show. Nice tune.
One of my favorite live versions of theirs!! :)
(They did 2 nights in a row and sold both out)
Roger Taylor going hard on the Drums for this song.
When I saw them at Madison Square Garden in September 1980, this song, as well as every other one, sounded great live. The sound came from the stage and all around the arena.

OMG, "Now I'm Here" is one of my fav Queen songs. Even if not one of their bigger commercial hits. This song rocks!!!
In 1981 Queen played to the biggest ever audience of over 250,000 in South America. It's never been beaten.
This was written by Brian about Queen’s first tour of the US (as opener for Mott the Hoople.) It seems some partying was going on with Peaches at The Dungeon in New Orleans! You mentioned Metallica. I visit The Dungeon whenever I’m in NOLA because of this song!
I saw them in 1978 at Bingley Hall, Stafford, England.

80,000 for the old Wembley, as the corporate boxes and restaurants held others

That stage was so huge they had to put in concrete piles to support it. Staggering.

I saw Queen in 1977 live when the News of the World album came out.
Guys, just watch the whole Wembley 86 gig and you will understand why, even check out the play list, non stop great music by 4 very talented guys.
I've said I was at Wembly here before. This was the other night (I was at the Yellow Jacket night). No concert can compare after this

many packed stadiums after Queen with ease
it became easier in the 90s

thru Freds greatness RIP
And u guys have not even listened to March of the black Queen , it will blow u guys away
This song is all Roger.
They are that big because they were that Great 🎉 No music like that today 😕
Freddie is the goat 🐐
Fair to say this song didn't get the recognition it deserved? Possibly the heaviest, fastest track they ever did?
Stone cold crazy and Modern times rock n roll are heavier and faster.
Hearing that someone saw Queen live gives me a serious case of green-eyed monster syndrome.
Go Pride !
70's Queen was the best b4 they became radio hit sellouts in the 80's lol.
Fluck you tube
STOP STOPPING
