Who cares what it cost? This is your bike. From top to bottom, it is exactly the way you wanted it to be. It is beautiful. As someone who transitioned from custom road biking to motorcycles, I found this series fantastic. I can't wait to see this beautiful beast in more of your videos.
That is correct, I also buy cheaper "projects" that end up being more expensive in the end but at least there are new parts on it and made for my taste 🙂
Tip for drilling holes to a certain depth: if you don’t have a drill with a depth gauge, just wrap a piece of sticky tape around the bit, and stop drilling when you reach it.
The fact that you worked on it from the state it was in until now makes it that much more special than just buying it already finished. By now Im sure you know that bike inside and out which will make it that much easier for you to troubleshoot should you run into any problems later on down the road. Keep the videos coming. We are here to watch, and I love bikes so it is entertaining.
so so so so so clean, i really love the painted tank too, looks better without the tank cover. i bet it feels so good to finally have it basically finished after a long process to bring it back to a street monster. enjoy and ride safe!!
I think the Bitubo suspension is the bike's cynosure. You never see Bitubo in the wild here and its such a process to install *properly*. So sweet to see those particular doodads on top of the forks.
Is it worthwile saving a couple of thousand dollars? Hell no! Is it an awesome informative journey? Hell Yes! What you gained from this project is knowledge and experience which you probably cant get if you just bought a regular stock R1, so yes, this process was worth it! Knowledge is priceless!
Definitely worth it considering the end result, and you have the “satisfaction of the accomplishment” factor also. I’m in a similar situation regarding the motor” blowing up at any second”: I bought a second hand R1 where the previous owner installed 13:1 pistons re jetted the carbs ( it’s a 2000) full titanium race exhaust and then put 16,000 mile on it . I’ve beat it like a rented mule for another 5,000 miles and so far so good. But for $2,700 I can’t complain. Excellent video thanks. I’m sure you already know that the front brake is your best friend, but I’m shocked at how many ( American) riders don’t know this. Stay safe !
I absolutely think that this whole process was worth it. I can tell you I have bought bikes just to fix and sell, and also bought bikes to keep. Whatever the circumstances, the ones that I worked on the most, I felt a greater connection to and therefore felt more comfortable riding them. Your R1 looks great and I feel like you have a stronger connection to it because you know its ins and outs, you can't buy that and I hope you really enjoy it.
So happy to see this project finished, it really looks awesome! Also very entertaining to watch from the beginning to the end, can't wait for new projects like this, channel def deserves more and more subs
Don't you dare add black stickers to that gorgeous paint job! The bike is beautiful and even though I have little interest in a R1 I love this bike and thoroughly am enjoying this series. Keep up the great work!
i thoroughly enjoyed this series. imo, of course it was worth it. not only did you save some money, but you learned so much about it in the process of rebuilding it, and that is priceless! cheers!
Absolutely worth while. You now know the bike inside out, you know what you have and I'm sure you have gotten a great feeling of accomplishment from doing everything (priceless).
That feeling of not wanting the project to end but then itching to ride the bike is so real... but after it's all back together getting to rip is the best part! 🤙 Cheers mate!
Just to say hats off to you, I never knew I wanted a R1, but your enthusiasm was infectious! Congrats I hope you have loads of great memories with this bike, I hope you do another!
I believe that satisfaction of working on it and slowly rebuilding it adds a lot to joy after, when its able to run perfectly. So even if you didn't save some money, its absolutely worth it! Hopefully you wont run into often reaccuring issues as sometimes happens with this type of rebilds. Worth it for sure ^^
I converted my old one from street to track, raced it for years and kept changing it. I would never try to change it back but having said that- race bikes are serviced pretty much every weekend. Unless a stress thing happens from being flogged or crashed it should be a sweet ride for many years.
knowing your bike deep down will save you more bucks in the future. i think that alone is so worth it already. really awesome job and thanks for sharing this with us!
You did a really amazing job and let it look pretty easy. I wish nice time with your new baby now. Hopefully you let us see more of it soon. Well done Chaos!
Sometimes it’s not the product we chase, it’s the journey. It’s easy to buy a show quality bike/car, but there’s no fun in that. It will always be a garage queen. You did it right - you got to enjoy the bike in the poorest of state and build the one you truly wanted
I am from India and I randomly came upon the first video in this series 2 days before and I got hooked to it, seeing the final version of the R1 in this video which you just released feels like fate. Nice work man, keep it up.
If you are worried about drilling to far in the radiator measure the length of the bolt then tape the drill bit so when you insert the drill bit and the tape starts or about to enter the hole stop drilling.
You're next level dude, I don't know how to do half of what you did. Great job putting it back together. The bike looks amazingand the color is sick, well done. I'll put some stickers on for added spice.
Great series, I done this with a street triple r earlier this year to save myself money but getting the bike I wanted. It is surprising what you can save if you never plan on selling the bike. Hope you do more series like this.
To each his own and that blues absolutely nothing I would pick, but I love watching this channel and I'm happy that you're happy with the result and FYI for the future, those tank covers leave a quarter of an inch all around the bottom of the tank. They do not cover the complete tank for some reason.
That silver and blue livery is sharp! It’s a stunner! You’ve now got a bike customised to how you want it and haven’t spent a fortune. You also know the bike. Priceless! I like that fastener kit too. Hard to get all that including the windscreen mounts in one. I’m on the lookout now. Please consider posting a link.👍🏻
The R1 looks awesome, your videos rebuilding your R1 has inspired me to buy one also. I bought a 2015 Yamaha R1 in the blue and silver livery, it was also converted for track use but most of the OEM parts where available. It also has upgraded Ohlins suspension in the front and back so that was a big plus Only thing i have to do is register it. but for now it looks awesome next to my MT09SP 2023 Anyway, awesome bike you got there and i love the new fairings
definetly worth it.... factor in the amount of knowledge and understanding about the bike that you've got as well. currently in the exact situation as you with a CBR1000rr here in Kenya.
Oh man. That bike looks amazing! Awesome color and the pattern on those fairings really make it look premium. Great job. I wish I had half as much enthusiasm to work on a project from start to finish.
Can't get over how good it looks. Especially that silver tank and silver wheels over that blue fairing. Hope you don't go for blue tank cover over the silver one since that makes your bike look unique compared to that other blue R1. Can't wait for the next episode to drop.
Beautiful end result, I love the original style but pls, change the mirrors. Get some Rizoma ones or something more sporty, and install end bar turning signals. They look Soo clean and are pretty visible
What a transformation! The blue works really well with your silver wheels. Having said that, I think the colour scheme on your dad's R1 is probably the best, not only on a Yamaha, but also on any bike 😍. If you want to minimise the gap under that tank nose cover, could you use some thin double-sided velcro? Re the horn, do you have a roadworthy test in SA, (similar to the MoT in the UK)? If so, I'd imagine a working horn would be necessary for a pass.
The journey is totally worth it. Get that suspension tuned pls. And find your local bitubo guy and see about the right spring rates and a potential revalve for your riding
When it comes to those metal parts / belly pan, you are not missing the brackets. They bolt on the cat, but yours is missing. You can not run them with a straight pipe, but there are others that make custom pans for the straight pipe set ups The only thing to consider is, if you are shopping for them, make sure that it's for the stock fairing and not the race ones. They are cut differently
my friend restored a $200 1990s moped, costed around $1500 and he said it was fun and now he has a very awesome authentic moped that is fun to ride. I tried it and it felt brand fucking new or maybe even better and he always got the looks from other bikers in my country, even bikers who have 1000cc
i loved this series. please keep doing this stuff :D im myself are planning on getting a project bike of some sort to build throughout my apprenticeship
I think its worth it, because you enjoyed the process! And maybe the engine will blow, but maybe, its been ridden in hard, properly warmed up and possibly last longer than you ever imagined!
I love the colour of the fairings, along with the colour of the wheels and tank. Not a big fan of the faux carbon fibre but other than that, it's a gorgeous bike. And even if it was more than a stock r1, you made it your own, the way you wanted to
Cracking job my friend, I would have definitely done it the same way, 8m not just saying that to kiss arse, but those racing parts that were already on it are worn in, where as if you had bought the parts to put on the $12k bike, you would have had to learn the set up, where as most of that work had already been done. If you add the cost of those parts and add to the $12k bike, you would have to add the time and energy spent to fit and dial it in. Therefore by the time you're finished you would have a bike where you would never be able to make your money back if you ever sell it. Keep up the great work and I look forward to what you have coming next. 🇬🇧
Looks absolutely amazing. It is a pitty that they (Monsterfairings) do not cater for older motorcycles as well. I have a 2007 Z1000. This is my dream machine. Might grab myself a nice cruiser sometime as well
As an 05 r1 Owner, your rescue project is a joy to watch. Love the color, learned a few things because of your efforts. Well done my friend! Bro at the start of the vid I was like this guy is from sa😂 I love this content dude, and the roads you were on I drive almost every day, maybe I get lucky and see it on the road some day. Beautiful work dude and keep up the good work
Ex-race bikes on the road are bonkers! I rode an 09 CBR1000RR of a friend that was converted back from track to road (in trim only), that thing had a CRAZY powerband, 2nd gear half throttle over 6000rpm and it would just start to power wheelie. Compared to a stock CBR1000RR, it was a night and day difference, and it's not like any stock modern liter superbike is sluggish by any means.

Well if "the way you wanted it" is stock with some fairings it's kinda waste of time. Good YT material, but waste of time.
Exactly, I rebuilt my Yamaha XJ6 I bought from a wreck for $1,500 AUD, spend about $2000 to repair it and I love it.
@@xani666 an ex race bike is most definitely not stock lmao
That colour is absolutely beautiful, don't hide it with stickers. What a great combination, the blue and silver looks fire. Great project!
Tip for drilling holes to a certain depth: if you don’t have a drill with a depth gauge, just wrap a piece of sticky tape around the bit, and stop drilling when you reach it.
Priceless is the fact that you enjoyed building the bike to your liking. Nice.
absolutely love this series, i was waiting every day for the next one xD

Your hard work and dedication is enviable. Your R1 looks amazing!
I can’t wait to see the final final results.
The blue fairings look great!
Wow man, real inspirational job, from the start.
20:41 - 20:45 is of value beyond any marginal savings.

thats the fun thing of fixing something yourself instead of having someone do it/buy something thats alright
So worth it to me. Knowing your bike is so valuable. For me, there is immense entertainment value in the project experience.
Definitely worth it considering the end result, and you have the “satisfaction of the accomplishment” factor also.

I think the work behind to transform the R1 is worth every penny. Building (or customize) your own bike is an experience like no others. Cheers mate!

One of my favorite series on youtube currently! Keep up the content man! 💯👌
To know your bike the way you do… absolutely worth it.
Loved this series.

i was like oh cool another episode and at the end i was like aw shit this is the last episode
I think it is worth it. You have new parts everywhere and a very good understanding of your bike. It looks 100% better and should run sweet. Well done
I converted my old one from street to track, raced it for years and kept changing it. I would never try to change it back but having said that- race bikes are serviced pretty much every weekend. Unless a stress thing happens from being flogged or crashed it should be a sweet ride for many years.
That’s the most beautiful colour I have seen and the journey and customisation that you got to choose makes it all yours and even more special.
knowing your bike deep down will save you more bucks in the future. i think that alone is so worth it already. really awesome job and thanks for sharing this with us!
The combination of silver and blue is so good
Not gonna lie, kind of addicted to this series.
You did a really amazing job and let it look pretty easy. I wish nice time with your new baby now. Hopefully you let us see more of it soon. Well done Chaos!
The bike is beautiful and unique. And you had fun fixing her up. It's truly your bike, and that's priceless. Cheers.
Loved this EP! It is always awesome to see a vision come to life. You absolutely nailed the blue and silver color combo!
i’m so happy that they offer these fairings for the r7 now, because i plan to buy one either this time next year or the following spring
Sometimes it’s not the product we chase, it’s the journey. It’s easy to buy a show quality bike/car, but there’s no fun in that. It will always be a garage queen. You did it right - you got to enjoy the bike in the poorest of state and build the one you truly wanted

Your R1 looks fantastic! Well done. Doesn't matter too much what it cost. The experience has been amazing. Thanks for sharing so well.
Dude , as long as you are happy. Well done on getting it this far. Nothing sounds like a cross plain engine.
If you are worried about drilling to far in the radiator measure the length of the bolt then tape the drill bit so when you insert the drill bit and the tape starts or about to enter the hole stop drilling.
Bro this is so dope! Was it worth it? The smile on your face says it all. It’s yours so you enjoy it! Happy for you
You're next level dude, I don't know how to do half of what you did. Great job putting it back together. The bike looks amazingand the color is sick, well done. I'll put some stickers on for added spice.
It looks amazing. Well done about leaving the silver tank. It mixes really nice with the blue. Big thumbs up for this project. Enjoy your R1!!!

Congratulations on getting it together man. That bike def needed some TLC. Enjoy your ride and stay safe!
i love the blue with the bronze forks and especially how the silver tank fits with the silver engine 🔥

Love that color. Leave the stickers off. Plus, I’m glad you went with the silver gas tank and wheels. Such a beautiful bike. Nice job!
I have an 2015 R1M, I have to say been following this build absolutely love this mate. Good on ya.
The R1 looks awesome, your videos rebuilding your R1 has inspired me to buy one also.

out of all the bike channels yours is my favorite ❤ that r1 you used for fairing inspiration is also one of my favorites too!
I love every episode of this series !
Definitely worth the journey of learning the bike and repairing the bike as you go, all along with saving money on top.
What a transformation! The blue works really well with your silver wheels. Having said that, I think the colour scheme on your dad's R1 is probably the best, not only on a Yamaha, but also on any bike 😍.

Hahah that's fair!
Vf designs makes a great rear indicator replacement that looks amazing for these bikes

I was waiting for this video honestly🤩
Top tip with these aftermarket fairings, the oil cooler plastic..cover it in heat shield take similar, as it will melt
congrats man. i feel like you have built yourself a keeper.
Wow man!! Enjoyed this R1 series. All the colors, even with the fake carbon.. looks great!
Loved this series, hope for more like it. That color is absolutely stunning, great job!
I love the colour of the fairings, along with the colour of the wheels and tank. Not a big fan of the faux carbon fibre but other than that, it's a gorgeous bike. And even if it was more than a stock r1, you made it your own, the way you wanted to

Totally worth it, love the color and this build series !
Thank you for sharing this journey with us, it's been fun and expiring to follow your project. You should be proud of your R1, it looks amazing 😎
Have been following all along. Brilliant. Amazing job. Totally worth it. Well done.
It may cost as much as it did, but the experience of building your own R1? That is priceless man.
I love what you did, the content and achievement. That colour rocks too!
It felt like i was part of whole series and i felt sense of achievement when u completed it ❤
Bike is beautiful! Great job!
Love the DIY aspect of any project.
This series was so good, enjoy your awesome bike mate
Looks absolutely amazing. It is a pitty that they (Monsterfairings) do not cater for older motorcycles as well. I have a 2007 Z1000. This is my dream machine. Might grab myself a nice cruiser sometime as well
Here we go!
Great project! Cool format! Well done mate!!
As an 05 r1 Owner, your rescue project is a joy to watch. Love the color, learned a few things because of your efforts. Well done my friend! Well worth the time and money you ve invested..the quality of Yamaha engineering and craftsmanship is proven here..this poor mule took many beatings and much abuse..but now thanks to you she lives on, looking gorgeous...
Great outcome!
Love the look...
The carb.. eh.. Squared Racelines on the blue are looking very nice too.
and edit:
It is worth it, what's better then working on your own bike, making it better and better
did the same with my 07 daytona 675, it was a little rough but I got it cheap and been in love with it since since, wouldn’t trade her for a pristine ninja 300 in this lifetime.
Well done man, it looks amazing!
Lol you’re telling me everyone doesn’t get free thousand dollar fairings on their rebuild projects?! 😂
Hahah everyone's an influencer these days so I'm sure they do
lol are they even that good
The R1 came out absolutely stunning. Love the color too, even with the faux cf. You reckon it's going to be a keeper?
I usually find sports bikes all look the same to me but that looks incredible. Good call on leaving the silver tank.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Probably mentioned, but Keyserts seem a lot easier than the insert you use. Drill, tap, insert, and lock. You'll get a flush insert that way.
It is worth it because at the same time you can upgrade the parts and customize it the way you like and it is a unique rare Yamaha R1 love this video. I'm from 🇵🇭 dreaming to own yamaha R6 soon.
Bro at the start of the vid I was like this guy is from sa😂
I love this content dude, and the roads you were on I drive almost every day, maybe I get lucky and see it on the road some day.
Definitely worth it, it looks awesome! And it's individual. I would forego the stickers too.
